Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-Michelle went to school full time. She worked part time, and wanted to be an ASL teacher , as well as teach at the deaf institute where her parents both attended school. Travis was her best friend, mostly because their mother's were so close, but he understood what it was like to have at least one deaf parent. She lived at home in the summer and stayed at the dorms through the school year. College was like another world for her, being around people who spoke and heard all day, everyday. It was fun, but she felt out of place, and missed her parents.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-Campus was buzzing for days before the initial outbreak, with all the rumors. Michelle was worried about her family and had planned to drive home to check on them. Her parents were adjusted to living in a hearing world, but she still felt they were going to need her, if what everyone was saying was true. Rumors of Government involvement and some sort of innoculations was the main thing on everyone's lips. If they had to go and get some sort of shots, she wanted to be there to make sure they understood everything that these people were explaining to them.
She was walking across the campus to the parking garage when the emergency alarms went off. Kids everywhere broke out in panic. Michelle bolted for her car, trying to get there before everything locked down. She was not staying there, she needed to get to her parents.
Michelle ran , carrying her bags with her, but by the time she got to the garage the campus security was locking the gates. Even if she went to her car, she wouldn't get out. She got caught up in a large group headed towards the main hall. The Dean of Students was making an announcement, and Michelle thought he and the rest of the world had lost their minds when he started to explain about the dead coming back to life and some form of contagion.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
-Weeks, months went by and Michelle and the other students managed to survive on campus, though some left periodically. Michelle was afraid , but deep down she knew she needed to find her parents. Eventually she left with a small group and headed the 60 miles to home. Once there, she found her parents held up in their home. They had been afraid to leave, knowing that Michelle would make her way home to them eventually. The house was not safe and they were dangerously low on food. Michelle left late one evening, going out alone, not realizing that her parents would panic if they woke up and found her gone. She hadn't left a note, and that was unlike her when she was home, but her year at school had gotten her out of the habit. That mistake cost her parents their lives. Her father had followed her, and unable to hear, he had not heard the shuffling sound of the walker that bit him. Michelle came back home to find him bleeding in the back door way. She got him inside, and the next day he died, awoke and killed her mother.
Michelle blames herself and has withdrawn from everything. She will not speak, reverting back to sign, and unless she wants you to know, most will never know she can hear.
