Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-Before the outbreak Roy was just an average guy. He was kind of an asshole, but still your average guy. He didn't waste time with relationships. He was young, good looking and the world was full of women. Why tie yourself down to just one girl? Roy worked at a tattoo parlor as an artist. He was never so comfortable as he was with a tattoo gun in his hand. Roy was social, he would make small talk with the clients that came into the shop but he never really cared for them. He didn't make very many connections beyond the shallow and the superficial. Roy was just a shallow superficial kind of guy.He was getting paid to ink them up. Roy was to wrapped up in his own problems to really give a shit about anyone other than himself. That was one of the many reasons he found himself alone.
Roy didn't care enough about others to make any room in his life for anyone other than his own vanity. Roy would spend his nights partying drinking, bedding a different girl every night because he could. He wasn't unhappy with his life. He loved it. Roy was living the dream, at least in his eyes. The dream would soon turn to a nightmare when the world ended and he found that he had some growing up to do.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-When everything happened it was chaos. Phone lines were down or tied up, hell even the police emergency 911 was a constant busy signal. Roy didn't have the slightest idea what he was doing. Everyone was in a panic. They were evacuating the city trying to reach loved ones. Roy didn't have any loved ones. Hell, he barely had liked ones. Roy was out for himself most of the time. So when the world ended Roy did what Roy knew best.... He looked out for himself. He avoided the major traffic of everyone trying to leave and headed in the opposite direction. He wasn't sure where the hell he was going, he just knew that he had to do something.
Roy operated without a plan almost always. It was just his style. He would eventually grow to become more clear headed and decisive but when the world was pulled out from under him he just wasn't that guy. Roy hopped on his motorcycle and just drove. He avoided the crowds and people, mostly because they were the biggest targets. Everyone jamming up together? That's just stupid. He thought as he road through the city. He found himself holed up in an old building. Days stretched to weeks and eventually everything grew quiet. There was the occasional walker roaming past, but Roy stayed tucked away. He found that building on outbreak day and made it his home. That was where he remained. In an old office building on the edge of town.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
Roy had been living in his office building for some months now. He had pretty much grown used to the isolation. He would go out and scavenge for supplies where he needed to, but mostly he just stayed locked away from the world. He didn't want to chance a peek at what it had become. No, it was better to drown his sorrows in the booze that he found. Roy quietly and slowly sunk into the bottom of a bottle day after day just waiting for it to end.
One day he was stumbled upon by Damien Dudley and Samantha Granger. They were a few survivors that were part of a much larger group. They had about 30 people in total and they were out looking for supplies when they found Roy. Roy was half drunk and pretty miserable. He told them to go away. He didn't want to be saved. He told them to leave him so he could just wait for the rotters to get him. They didn't do that. They drug Roy to his feet and took him despite his protests. Even the girl was surprisingly strong and Roy didn't have the energy to fight them off in his drunken state. After some struggle Roy blacked out.
They saved his life that day. That was 2 years ago. Roy has been with this group 2 years now. He spent the first two years of the apocalypse quietly wishing he was dead and it took people, honest and kind people to show him that he wanted to live. Roy slowly began to change. He became more hopeful. He was still an ego driven ass. No amount of hope can completely change a man, but he was coming back into the world for the first time and finding that with other people it wasn't so bad. Roy thrives in the apocalypse. His lack of concern for others except those in his group helps him compartmentalize. He doesn't see the world in shades of gray. It's black and white. Roy knows when to make the tough call. You might even say that his ego has saved his life once or twice.
A few weeks ago Roy's group was attacked by bandits. Roy watched as some of his friends were killed and the rest scattered. Roy made it out of the apartment complex they had been living in with a few others. Samantha, Damien, Ellias and Anna. Roy doesn't know what happened to the rest of his friends, but he can only assume they are dead. It's to dangerous to go back now. The four of them set out to find safety and somewhere to lay their heads for awhile. They just needed to come up with a plan. After the 3rd night, they woke up to find Anna missing. They searched for days but they have had no luck finding her. Roy isn't sure how much more loss he can take. He finds himself wishing they had left him in the office building sinking into a bottle of jack. At least then he wouldn't know the loss of caring about people you couldn't save.
