Finding the apartment complex in Texas had been somewhat of a blessing for weary travelers. Thos the stay was short lived and the place turned into a blood bath. Nora who was his oldest daughter managed to get a hold of more drugs and took her own life. The group was woken up to screams of people there and when Sam went to check he came face to face with his daughter. The sight was something that sent a state of shock deep into his inner mind. The walkerfied body of his little girl stumbled towards him with arms out trying for another meal. Grabbing the arms he spun her and restrained her arms crossed on her chest. Stepping back he found himself sliding against the wall with the struggling body.
"I'm Sorry that I couldn't protect you baby girl. I'm not sure if your life was because of me but if I could've stopped your suffering then I would've. If there is something after death and you see your mom. Tell her that I love her dearly." He spoke softly but only received growls as the Walker of his daughter tried to get free. Pulling the Handgun from its holster on his hip he pressed it to the temple of the girl. Taking a deep breath and closing his eyes he pulling the trigger. The body fell limp and he laid the gun on the floor beside him. His head leaned back against the wall.
Internally he was screaming and in pain but on the outside he was silent. Everything tuned out around him and he didn't notice the body that was coming back to animation after its untimely death. In his mind he was trying to find some center of calm to come back to reality. No parent should ever have to outlive their children or even kill them like this. In his subconscious, he heard Addy come in and she quickly dispatched the new walker with a spike of her bat. After the initial grief, they found a place and buried Nora under a large oak tree. By the end of that day Sam, Ramona, and Addy had gathered supplies and left the place behind.
--Sometime Later--
The trip had been quiet between the three survivors. Samuel drove a majority of the time but he didn't really speak. His mind was on auto pilot and he was distant enough to be oblivious to his new Fiancee withdrawing from the world. He was in his own turmoil and couldn't seem to figure out his way back to a normal state of mind. The silence in the vehicle was almost too loud to deal with. Eventually, the three had ended up in the state of ohio. Finally, sam Pulled into a Neighborhood and Parked the car on the road. The place seemed rather quiet and without a word he got out of the vehicle and stretched a bit.
