Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Danna "Dawn" Whitehawk was born in Canada on April 5th, 1998. Her mother Matilda worked as a seamstress, making clothing for a shop. Her father Mark Whitehawk had been a Competition Rifle Marksman shooter which he had won in 1997 and brought the trophy back to the United States and is displayed in the back of the display case at Belle Isle in honor for him since he was on the United States Team, even though he was at the time living in Canada. At the age of five years, her mother had started to teach Danna to read, write and speak in French, English and even Greek (For her mother was from Greece and wanted to take Danna over to visit some distant Relatives). Even during their move to Michigan in the United States, she kept up with the studying of the three languages and by the age of 9, she was able to fluently speak, read and even write all three languages. In school, her teachers loved how she always wanted to learn new things and was able to learn fast. She was a social child who would speak with anyone who came up to her either asking her a question or wanted to play games at recess or in Gym class for she was full of energy and vigor. While growing up, her father had taken her out onto his hunting trips to teach her how to hunt for food and how to use firearms properly and safely. Whenever he didn't get anything on a hunt, he would let her shoot his Grandfather's Lee Enfield Ishapore .308 rifle. Danna had learned a lot of knowledge just from her parents alone.
When she was at the age of 13, she was taken by her father to the Hunter's safety course program so that she could go hunting with him. The instructor's were surprised on how well informed Danna was in hunting, the safety aspects and where the kill shots were on the animals as to where to aim the weapon. When it came down to the shooting of Rifles and even handguns, she was a crack shot from learning from her father and had used her father's Enfield for the test. In the class, she came out with top marks with bulls eye each shot she had fired, but the bows were a different story. She was marked as Average compared to the rest of the other students. With the Written and Verbal tests, she was able to pass with flying colors. With her Certification of her passing the tests, she was now allowed to go out on hunts for real now with her father and a loaded firearm in her hands. Both of the parents were proud of her as she was now able to enjoy hunting like her father was able to. She was a daddy's girl and a tomboy to the bone. Her first buck was a decent eight pointer which was a few months after she had gotten her hunting license for Rifle season. After she had turned 14 years old and it was the Spring Hunting Season, she had went out into the wilderness with her father for another hunt. They were tracking massive tracks from a big buck or doe. They weren't sure just yet which it was. But on that trip, her father Mark would have the biggest scare of his life. Going through a field, Danna was stung by three mad hornets on her arm, back and the back of her neck. They both found out real quick that she was allergic to Bee stings as she started break out in hives and her breathing became light and very harsh as if she was starting to choke on something.
When he saw his Daughter fall down to the ground coughing and crying at the same time, he saw what the signs were and picked her up and rushed her back to the truck he had driven them both in. Placing her on the back seat, he had gotten in and called 911 and told them what was going on and that he said that he will meet the ambulance at White Pine since they were out in the woods. Driving fast, he was met up with fellow police officers that he worked along side with as they escorted him with Flashing lights and sirens as they all raced to where the Ambulance was at, which was the parking lot of the town's Church. Pulling in beside of the Ambulance and throwing the truck into Park, the medic's quickly rushed over and opened up the back door to see the girl trying to gasp for air. Pulling out an EpiPen from the medical bag, the man slammed the needle into her thigh and pushed the button to administer the medication into her blood stream. A few moments went by as they all waited to see the reaction, they saw her starting to breath better and was now asleep in the back of the truck. The parents had now found out that their only daughter and child was allergic to Bee Stings. So they had to watch and make sure that the house and hunting trips didn't have bees around so that they didn't have anymore incidents like that.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
On the day of the outbreak, Danna had turned 15 a few months prior. It was the last day of school as everything in the world was going to hell. News hadn't yet reached them as the Teachers bid their students farewell and to enjoy their summer break. All the children left the school and began to walk home to their individual homes since it was a small town. With money in her Wallet, her father had asked Danna to go to the local hunting/ Gun store and pick up some ammo for they were going to be shooting their rifles and pistols over the weekend. She had some cash in her wallet that her parents had given her for her birthday. She was going to be needing ammo for the .308 and the 9mm as well as a new Hiking Backpack because her last one ripped while during a hike in the Smokey Mountains with her family. When she came to the Hunting store, she stepped inside as the little bell jingled on the other side of the door. As the door closed behind her, she saw that the place looked as if that someone or a group of people came in and went on a massive shopping spree. There was barely supplies left on the shelves and hooks. Calling out for Old Man Jenkins who ran the store, she didn't get any response back. Figuring he was probably busy or on break, she went through the wrecked and nearly bare store and was looking for the things she needed. A lot of ammo was already taken, but she was thankful when she found some .308's and 9mm Luger ammo left. Grabbing the boxes she carried them to the counter and saw a Hiking backpack that was still left. Grabbing it, she saw that it was on sale for half price. Taking it as well, she set it down with her supplies.
Waiting a bit, she tapped on the small bell that was on the counter and waited to be served on. As she waited, she saw that she had been in the store for a little over an hour and needed to be home soon. Taking out some money, she placed what she owed for the purchase. Sliding the boxes of ammo into the Hiking Backpack, she then slid her School bag into it as well so it was easier to carry. Ripping the tag off, she slung the bag over her shoulders and began her journey home. Her and her families home was located on the out skirts of town near the woods. For the most part, it was a straight line to get to her house. Stopping every now and then at the stop signs and looking either way to make sure she didn't get hit by vehicles. Jogging to get some exercise, she had cut the usual hour worth walk down to forty minutes. Going up the wooden steps, she went inside and called out for her mom and dad but also, didn't get any response from either of them. Going through the house, she saw that no one was home. So the young 15 year old Danna had figured that they both were staying late at their jobs since they both had responsibilities to their work. So Dana went into the Kitchen and turned on the radio that sat on the counter. Hopping over to the fridge, she began to get cold cut meats and cheese with Mayo out of it for she was going to make herself Dinner which was going to be a simple sandwich. Getting down a plate and a couple slices of wheat bread, she listened to the radio as it was breaking news. The News anchor of the local area news was speaking about how the dead was coming back to life and was attacking the living. Chaos had broken out across the World as it was a Global pandemic unleashed. Danna stopped making her food as she just listened to the radio.
She couldn't believe what she was hearing on the radio. Figuring it was some sort of prank from the anchor's point, she continues with her dinner. Picking up the plate and a cup of water, she went into the living room and turned on the TV. As she gotten comfortable and was starting to eat her sandwich, the normal cartoon channel was interrupted with a breaking news bulletin. Her blue green eyes were fixed on the screen as she dropped the sandwich and the plate to the floor. Her eyes were seeing the carnage and utter chaos that was sweeping through the country. People were killing people and causing riots and even looting to happen to stores. Slowly placing a hand over her mouth, the image went over to a scene of Detroit city where her mother had her clothing shop in. The screen panned east and to her horror, she saw the store her mother had worked so hard to buy and build was up in roaring flames. The lifeless body of her mother laid half on the sidewalk and half on the street. People were running around in panic and Danna screamed at the top of her lungs as she saw her mother laying there, not moving and full of bullet holes. Getting up, she ran back to the kitchen and picked up the house phone. Dialing the number to her father's police station, she waited until she heard the dispatcher answer. Danna had I.Ded herself and asked for her father, that he needed to know the news of her mother and his wife. She heard the dispatcher let out a long sigh and cleared her throat. That's when she heard the news that her father was hit and killed while trying to rescue a family trapped in a burning car in a neighboring town. Dropping not only the phone to the floor, her knees hit solid on the wood flooring as she broke down and cried. There was no one left in her life. Both her parents were dead.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
For the last four years, Danna had stayed under the radar so to say. She had been living at the house she had grew up most of her life. She had fresh water from the stream out back and able to hunt for food through the woodlands. She had gone to town every few weeks to gather Some canned goods that were left around town, clothing for when Winter came and to gather wood for the Fireplace in the Living room. On those sleepless nights, she would light a candle and go out front and sit down to relax and take in the night time air. Danna had to adjust with out power when the power first went out a few weeks after the outbreak. The transition of it took about a month since she was use to having such a thing. As food spoiled, she had to use her knowledge she had learned from her father and Hunter's safety course on how to preserve meat by smoking, salting and letting them to hang in the smoke house that she and her father made when she was 9 years old when he did hunting trips and brought back either fresh meat or fish. It had been a quiet four years for the most part as the dead would stumble around and out of the area which caused her to either hide in a building while in town, or just watch them from the top floor of her home. Once they had moved on out, she would then go about with her routines of the day by going out and checking snare traps or seeing if anything was left in her garden out back of the house.
During when it was winter more recently, she heard a car pull up to the front of the house. Grabbing her rifle and handgun, she hurried to the porch and saw five people coming out. Aiming her rifle at them, they looked as if they only had knives on them. They begged for her to take them in for it was cold out and that they had lost their last place of staying due to bandits and the dead that stumbled through. Her gut was yelling at her not to trust them for something wasn't right about them. Telling them no, she had them leave her home and to never come back after she put a warning shot through the windshield of the car. It had startled them a bit that it caused them to rush back into their car and leave the area. The next few days, Danna didn't leave her home in fear that they will come back and steal everything that was left of hers and possibly kill her. A few days turned into a couple of weeks. Then a Couple of weeks turned into a month and she was starting to run low on food. So she needed to go hunting. As the snow was melting and the temperature was starting to heat up, she grabbed her hunting gear and went out into the woods to try and find herself some food. But as soon as she stepped out of the house and into the woods, she couldn't help but get the feeling that she was being watched by someone or by something. Thinking that it was her nerves, she pressed on and went to work on hunting for her food. She had packed three sets of clothing into her bag and some food encase she had to camp out in the woods for the night or more because of either weather or a horde of the dead. She had taken her clips and a few boxes of ammo encase she ran out of ammo in all of her clips to reload it all so that she didn't just have her ax to keep her safe. Climbing up into her hunting stand, she sat there and waited.
Her eyes scanned the woods and didn't see anything. Hours had went by as she felt that there wasn't anything for her to hunt for it wasn't her day in hunting. As her father always said to her, 'Its never guaranteed that you will get anything on a hunt.' Climbing back down from the tree stand, she was half way down when she stopped and sniffed the air. Smoke. Something was on fire and as she hurried to the ground, she turned her head towards the direction of her home, she saw the glow from a fire coming from that direction. Rushing now through the woods, she came to the edge near the clearing of her property. Her eyes fell upon her house up in flames as that same car with a few other vehicles were parked out front. They were eating what was left of her food and drinking all that she had gathered over the years. Falling to her knees, she was devastated. All her belongings, her home, all up in flames because of the group she had turned away months prior. Raising her rifle up, she peered down through the scope with her right eye and looked over them all. They all were carrying weapons and she was out matched. With a sense of defeat over her, she gotten up from where she was kneeling at and went back in through the woods and decided it was time for her to move on from the location. With the cover of darkness and the help of the Moon above, she navigated her way through Michigan. Making sure that she avoided the major cities as best as she could since she didn't have the proper weapons to fight off a horde or walkers or a scouting party of those that burned her home to the ground. As the days went by, she would hunker down in large buildings at the top of them so that she had the high advantage point. Now, she is on the move and has heard a massive gun fight going down at an airport near by. Knowing that she shouldn't go to it and just move on, her Curiosity has gotten the best of her and she is slowly moving her way towards it and soon, she will be meeting the Belle Isle group. This is where we pick up on her story.
