Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Talia was born to Josephine and Gregory's Rotoro. Her father worked as an architect, her mother an accountant for a business firm. She was raised well for the first four years of her life. Her parents cared for her, and she was better off for the future. She was walking and talking by two, to quote her dad "she never shut up".
She was a trouble maker and would always leave a mess behind. Talia loved cartoons, though didn't understand most. She like dbright colours and funny voices. Her favourite book was about a princess and a paper bag. She could recite it line by line, and read it every day. She was never without Dog, her stuffed rabbit.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- When the apocalypse hit her parents hid. They locked the doors. Talia remembers loud voices and people shouting. There was what she would learn to be a gun shot, and the smell of smoke. She never saw and fighting or the dead, her parents kept her away and hidden the whole night. When the military arrived they left with them to the safe area.
None of them being sick or harmed they were left alone.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- Talia and her family lasted a week in one of the houses under military protection. The rationed the rations. They stockpiled supplies they found in empty houses and the one they were given. Talia watched people get taken away day after day. The military people didn't let them play, and she was angry that the cartoons only worked once a day for half an hour.
Her family and her made the best of it. They spent most days together. When military rule fell they left in a van. With all the supplies her parents gathered they hit the road. Though the streets were packed and traffic was crazy to leave they eventually did. Avoiding the dead and most people they left down in to the states.
There was no security and the border, so it was a simple drive in. People were fleeing both north and south, and it got quite congested. Luckily they made it out, heading west and south from there. Josephine, Talia's mom, had family in Oregon that was their goal. The travelled for a few months, keeping toward their goal the entire time.
On one stop they were at a gas station. It had been about a year and they had kept being delayed and delayed. They stuck to the outskirts of towns but that didn't stop the dead or bad people from interfering. They were being followed by a group of bandits, seeing them as an easy target they were aiming to take them out.
Talia and her parents had avoided them for days. But eventually they caught up. They ambushed the gas stations, and came in with other guns. Gregory tried to fight them off, firing a few shots at the men. He provided a distraction and Josephine and Talia fled in the van. They left what they found, Gregory giving them time to escape.
As Talia looked back she watched as the bandits forced her father on his knees and put a gun to the back of his head. As the bandits pulled the trigger Talia cried, watching them disappear behind them.
Josephine and Talia drove for days and days. They didn't stop, just kept driving. Eventually Josephine was to tired to keep going. They pulled to the side of the road. Not long after a car pulled up. The expected it to be the bandits instead it was just a lone old man, grizzled and beaten. He saw they were in danger and offered to help them.
Talia and her mother went with the man, back to his cabin. He gave them a meal and offered a place to stay for the night. Though that night fell short when the bandits, who had followed them attacked. They tried to set the cabin on fire. The flames only drew the dead. Soon there was more dead than people. As Josephine and the man fought the dead and the bandits Talia hid.
They fled not long after, heading to the woods. The man was mad at Josephine for brining the bandits to his place. He said he trusted them and that he shouldn't have. It was there Josephine revealed she was bit drug the fighting. She was going to turn and would not make it. She begged the man to look after Talia after she passed.
The man reluctantly agreed. He moved Talia away and gave Josephine mercy. Talia cried and cried at the sound of the gun shot, knowing her mother wouldn't come back. Together her and the man left, on the road. They looked for a vehicle and kept travelling. The man revealed himself to be Albert, and gave a set of rules she was to follow.
Over the course of the next three years he trained Talia to handle the dead. He taught her to fight agasint people and scavenge for herself. He was good at killing and knew Talia would be one day too. He saw bits of himself in her and she looked up to him. They were a good pair, and grew close over the three years. They kept to themselves, only staying with people for a few days before moving on.
One day Albert and Talia were looking for supplies in an empty house. Albert cut himself on a piece of glass reach through the window. Talia patched it up the best she could and they kept going. Soon his cut became infected, without proper care Albert fell ill. Talia tried to find medicine for him in the other houses but it was no use.
While she was out for supplies Albert turned. She came back and was forced to put him down. Taking the supplies from his bag she set out on her own. She had to keep going, like he said. Keep going and don't stop. With what he had taught her, and her own intelligence, she knew she would do fine.
