When things are good, Ariadne is fastidious about her appearance. She likes pretty clothes with nice, uncommon fabrics, though she’ll settle for warmth and comfort when she needs to. Since the world came to an end, however, she’s usually in whatever she can find or whatever adults bring for her to wear. That’s not to say she’s happy about it, but she’s willing to settle. Her body has always been slender to skinny, but now she’s positively bony. Her hair is tangled and unruly; she hasn’t had time or energy to bother with it. Her overall look right now is neglected.

Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-Ariadne’s mother Anita was planning to be a model. Ever since she was a teenager, she wanted to stand in front of a camera. But in an age of leggy supermodels, Anita’s 5’4” frame was simply not enough to get her any real consistent work. At 23, she went to a party and met Jeroen, a tall and handsome basketball player who flattered her and convinced her to sleep with him. The two met up many times before she lost interest. By then, she’d already conceived. She saw in her squalling newborn daughter’s face the chance she herself had lost. Even at the moment of Ariadne’s birth, Anita was already planning to make her into the star she wanted to be. At age four, she set Ariadne up with an agent and the little girl was quickly doing shoots. She went to normal school for first grade, but soon dropped out to be “homeschooled,” which really means that she was taught by a tutor. At age six, she was picked up by Avant Modeling, of which Stephanie diMarco is the top agent. Stephanie saw her and headhunted the little girl away from Delphi, where she’d been for two years, with the promise of more, higher profile work, and a signing bonus for mom. That did it. Stephanie got her the work, as promised, but along with it came the pressures of being higher profile, more in demand. Her mother has been controlling her diet carefully with an eye to making sure she doesn’t gain too much weight.
When she turned seven, her mother took her in for her usual yearly physical and the doctor noticed that though she’d grown two inches taller, she’d actually lost weight. He questioned Ariadne about this and she told him about how she and her mother were dieting together. Upon further questioning, he began to believe that her mother was withholding food from the girl, which she denied vehemently. DCFS was involved and agreed with his findings. She was placed into group foster care and back into public school. At the time of the apocalypse, Ariadne was in group foster care, awaiting further hearings.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-When things fell apart, Ariadne was in school. She ran, hearing the screams of her classmates in her ears, and managed to climb a tree three blocks away. She was found there before nightfall, shivering and chewing the neckband of her t-shirt, by Clive, a burly black guy with a wide smile. He took her to his group who were holed up in a house a few blocks away. They decided to move on to Dodger Stadium, having heard the rumors of a refugee center. Ariadne was certain that she'd find her mother there, so she went with them.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
-Ariadne didn’t find her mother at Dodger Stadium. With few other options, she stayed with the group. When the refugee center fell apart, Clive and his group took her with them as they retreated to a more rural locale in the forest. They moved several times and were near San Simeon when a herd happened upon the group, killing everyone except Ariadne, Clive, and another woman. The three ran deeper into the woods and the woman was shortly killed by a straggler. Clive tried to fight it off, but zigged when he should have zagged, and ended up bit. Ariadne sat with him until he died, but couldn’t bring herself to put him down. He turned and chased her away until she tucked herself into a drainage ditch and hid, waiting for the only father she’d ever known to kill her. Now, she’s not doing well, hungry and thirsty, and unwittingly heading toward the settlement at Hearst castle.
