Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Being born to a widowed mother, he grew up in a small port village/ Fishing and Hunting Community. Tales were told about his father and what he had done for Mother Russia. That he picked up a rifle and fought in World War 2. His mother didn't want to talk about him since it still hurt to think about him. A few years later, his mother gave birth to his younger brother Alexander who's father decided to bail when he heard news that she was pregnant. Times were hard, but everyone in the village pitched in to help the single mother of two boys. With time going on, both the boys learned how to hunt, fish and trap to make a decent living to try and help they're mother. As the boys started to grow now into men, Russia needed more Soldier's to fill in the ranks and Vadim made the choice to join the military. His brother stayed back at home to take care of they're mother and keep helping her by hunting, fishing and trapping for food and money. With the eldest in the military, he would send half of his pay back to home to help out as best as he could.
In 1976, he was flown out to Ethiopia where he joined with the rest of the soldiers. This was the war known in the history books as the Eritrean War of Independence. His unit was stationed at the Capital building where the Rebels were marching to take it. With Vadim and the rest of his men at the front lines and with the Help of the Cubans and Yemen, they held they're ground and pushed back the approaching forces. Vadim had taken a few rounds to his shoulder and his right chest. But when he saw an ally being pinned down, he jumped out of his fighting position and fought his way over towards the injured Soldier. Picking him up and slinging him over his shoulders, Vadim ran like a ravaging bear back to the defensive perimeter. In 1984, Vadim and his unit was needed else where and was transported to Angola, to help fight in the Angolan Civil War. But sadly, as time went on, The Russian forces in Ethiopia were slowly being fought back and eventually had to pull out of the area in the late 1980's.
For five years, Vadim watched good men get injured and died around him while fighting in the civil war. When 1992 came around and the Fall of the Soviet Empire, he was sent back to Russia where he was transferred to train to be Spetsnaz and later was put into a GRU unit. But when he came back to Russia in 1992, he met and fell in love with a woman named Tina Lebedev. After he graduated the Spetsnaz training, they became a couple and vowed to each other that they wouldn't cheat or break away from each other. That if he is out in the field, that they would write to each other. In the years to come, whenever he had RnR, he went back home to spend time with his family and Tina's family. Eventually, he had met at the time, little Alexandra Lebedeva and in due time, she started to call him Uncle Vad. In 2003, on his down time he heard word that little Alexandra was dating a young man named Vasily, nodding his head, he waited at Tina's Sister's house. H
He was waiting to meet the young man who took the heart of his Niece. Vadim was dressed in his uniform as he sat in the living room. The door opened and in came the two teenagers. When the man closed the door, Vadim cleared his throat and stood up to his full height. His Niece ran over to him and gave him a hug. Alexandra then introduced Vasily to her Uncle Vad. Vadim told the young man to sit down across from him. They had that Talk since Alexandra didn't have a father figure either. The basics was, 'You break her heart young Vasily, you better expect me one night. I don't tolerate people playing games with my niece.'
List of Conflicts/ Civil Wars/ and Wars Vadim has been part of in his time of the service after his Training as Spetsnaz and later VDV.
'92-97': Tajikistani Civil War
'99-04', then 05'-09: Second Chechen War
Word came to him from Tina that his brother had been in a horrible hunting accident and was dead. The now Colonel was saddened at what he was reading. All the soldiers that were part of his unit's and even across the Military branches grieved with him since they saw Alexander like a part of the Family as well since Vadim had spent many years in the Service. Seeing that his mother was now to old to support herself, Vadim had to resign from the military and moved back home. With the money he had saved up, he purchased a house for him and Tina that was close by to his mother's old home which she had been living in since the end of World War 2. After purchasing a Pickup truck that could survive the harsh winters of the Northern Edge of Russia, Vadim had found work as a construction worker that built houses, walls, piers, and even found himself in a Shipping yard from time to time in the spring and summer times building Ships.
In the fall of 2010, he was called out of work and needed to get back home. His boss told him just to go since it was a Family emergency, he gotten into his pickup truck and floored it back home. When he gotten there, he saw the Ambulance there at his mother's house. They were pulling her out of the house on a gurney with a blanket covering her fully. Been in so man battles and seeing many die around him, he knew what that meant. Leaning against the truck, he broke down since his mother had just past away. His heavy fists began to bang down upon the steel hood, leaving heavy dents of where his hand had just beaten it in. Comforted by Tina, they made the plans to have his mother buried next to his father just out back behind the old home in which he and his brother had grown up in. Looking at the three tombstones, he saw that he was the last of his family line. After a couple years of Counseling, he and Tina were thinking about adopting a couple of children and raise them as they're own, but only if he married her. In the spring of 2013, he had purchased the engagement ring that she had wanted. It was a Silver ring with a gold ring intertwining with each other.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
Vadim was with his long time girlfriend and soon to be Fiance. He was going to propose to her while they both were at her sister's house out in St. Petersberg. After packing the truck with clothing to last them two weeks in the city while they visited, Vadim had a gut feeling to bring his handgun with him. Along with grabbing the pistol from the night table, he reached under the bed and grabbed the engagement rings that he had purchased weeks before. Before leaving the house, he had grabbed his Machete just encase they decided to go out camping which they loved to do together from time to time. It had taken them a couple of day's worth of driving to reach the city with Vadim driving the whole way. The only times they stopped was for fuel. Driving through the city streets, he saw there was a bit of panic going on. Reaching her Sister's house, they made they're way inside with they're things and shut the door behind them. Her sister had told them that something was going on around the world, that people were attacking each other. Going into the living room area, they stood there watching the screen on the TV as reports of the Military shooting people and the people not stopping. That's when they saw the scene where someone gotten onto the Machine guns and began to open up on the invaders at the Kremlin.
It was disturbing seeing such a thing happening. The report was calling it, 'The end of the world, the Dead Rises again!'. Turning his attention to the windows facing out front. He was seeing people stumbling around and was even eating others. This wasn't a good thing he was seeing. First instinct was to get the doors and windows covered. Moving anything that was heavy, he pushed it against the front door and began hammering wood and nails to the windows. Meanwhile, he had asked Tina to block off the back door in the Kitchen. It was silent for a while as he hammered away until he heard something he didn't want to hear. Tina screaming out in panic and then in pain. With fear coursing through him, he rushed through the house and into the kitchen to see one of those Things on top of her. It was eating away in her stomach as she cried out in pain. Pulling his sidearm out, he put a bullet into it's head. Going over to her, he fell to his knees as he looked over the injury. Her intestines were ripped out of her stomach and were chewed on. There was no way in saving her. She would bleed out before they reached the nearest hospital which was eight miles away. Picking her up into his arms as he fell to his knees, he held her there for a bit as she whispered that she loved him and that she wanted him to let go. She knew she was dying and wanted him to put an end to her suffering and to make sure that she wouldn't turn into one of them. Tears streamed down his face as he sat there, cradling her still in his arms. He picked up his handgun and put the barrel to her head. Closing his eyes, he squeezed the trigger.
Her body went limp as he roared out in rage and anguish. His mourning lasted for days as he sat in the kitchen, after he had finished putting the fridge and table against it. Her sister touched his shoulder and told him that the Russian Government was needing former soldiers to pick up arms and enlist again to help fight off the dead. Thinking about it, he looked at his dead girlfriends body as she laid there on the floor wrapped up in a sheet. Former Colonel Vadim knew that he had to do it. That the Mother Land needed the Iron Bear once again. Sniffing a few times, he stood up and went to his bags. Grabbing them, he left her the food he had gathered and loaded his truck up again. He was directed to go to the Kremlin to enlist again. It didn't take long for him to find a military check point and was then escorted after he had shown his Dog tags and his former Credentials of who he was in the military. Getting out of the truck and now outside of the Kremlin, he went through and did the paperwork. After it was filled out and filed, he was given his old Rank back after he had a check up. Once everything was done, he was suited up for the Ground force Task Force. His first mission, help clear out different areas that were heavy with the undead. Months had past him by and he found himself onboard a Ropucha Class Landing ship heading who know's where.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
Over the course of four years, Colonel Kuznetsov and his team of Soldiers that had 10 Infantrymen, three Support Gunners, two snipers, 3 medics and two Field Radio Operators. They were sent to different Russian Allied countries to help secure key points for them. With them, they had 10 T-90A's for armored support. The method of transporting his team and his armored Division was through a Ropucha-Class Landing Ship, BDK-61. On the list of places to go was in India where they were to land on the shores and unload the tanks and the team to help the failing Government to sustain order and to train people to become soldiers. With it, they dropped off supplies such as Rations, Weapons and Ammunition. For months, they helped clear out different towns and helped rebuild some buildings to get they're lives back to normal as humanly possible. Over his radio, he had heard that their was an urgent message that he needed to hear. Leaving training duties and everything else in his unit's care, he rushed back to the ship. Making his to the bridge, he was met by the Captain of the Vessel and the rest of the Bridge staff. Being lead to the Communication's terminal, he nodded his head to play the message he needed to hear.
It was from Russian Command. His mission there was going to be taken over by a Russian Task Force, and that he and his team with the 10 T-90A's were to head for New York, United States. That the Admiral there was able to make plans with the United States Officials to help them rebuild what was lost. But it seemed that the United States were now broken and in factions that needed to be unified once and for all. A list of what he was going to be given to help with such a task was as follows: 4 2S19M2 "Msta-SM" - 20 men, 3 Infantry Platoons mounted in BMP-3Ms - 120 men, 5 ZSU-23-4 "Shilka"- 20 men, and 5 2S31 Vena-20 men. Looking at the list, he was practically given an army for ground troops. Later on in the message, it even stated that he will be provided with Arial Support which will consist of Four Mil Mi-24 Hinds, and three Mil Mi-28 Havoc's. To the Colonel, it sounded more like an invasion then giving assistance. He is to leave immediately for it will take two days to gather the supplies, weaponry, Vehicles and the personnel for this task. Grabbing the Radio, he radioed in to his troops and the tanks to load up onto the Ropucha, that they had a new mission at hand. Once everything was on board and ready, the ship set sail for New York in it's Cross Hairs. Explaining to his men what they were going to do, he told them that they were to be meeting up with the GRU unit and the Naval Officer's at New York with the American President, a Female General and a good amount of American and Russian Soldiers at the West Point Academy in New York. That they're goal was to help, Assist, and rebuild the United States back to what it was.
Vadim stayed on the Bridge, watching the waves, storms, and even a bird here and there. The only things that they could do really was to play games such as Cards/ Poker, Read books or Magazines that they could find, Clean your weapons and make sure they are in working order, or to simply rest until it was time for the Red light to turn green and have the tanks rolling up on the roads yet again. Soon, they would be seeing the Russian fleet and the embankments in which they will be unloading they're cargo. Picking up the Microphone...This is where we pick up on Vadim's Story.
