The boat house stronghold didn't work out. She wasn't comfortable there and the people there were not what she thought they were. Once Damon was healed she enlisted his help to gather all her supplies back up and leave. It was a lot easier to do then she thought it would be. She assumed she would be stopped and her supplies taken. But she wasn't. They were able to secure a boat and get back to her ambulance that was securely parked on the beach. There was a light dusting of snow when they got to it, but nothing that could stop them.
It took a few turns of the starter, but she got the rig started up and they took to the wet, cold roads back to the Long Island Expressway. She looked back and was a bit sad it didn't work out. She rather liked the place and worked hard to make a little place for herself there but she knew things weren't always as they seemed and Damon didn't seem to want to stay anyways.
She wasn't sure where they were going, but she just continued north where the snow was coming down harder as they continued. She could barely make out a sign as the sun was starting to go down, unhinged and hanging off the rusty poles it was attached to.
"Did that say Connecticut? I think we should get off the road. You see anywhere we can stop?"
She didn't realize there was another car behind them, trailing quietly as they drove away from one complex in hopes of finding another life. It seemed impossible to settle down anymore and she was starting to get tired of constantly be on the move. When she saw the first exit, she drove down the circular off ramp in hopes of find a hotel or home or even a store where they could hunker down for the night.
