It took some time and a half bottle later the little baby was sleep. Sophia made a pallet on the floor of blankets to leave the baby. Thats when she took the time to rummage through the stoor starting in the baby section. It was pretty much un touched and there would be supplies for days here. Atleast they wouldnt have to run off right away and they could relax. Granbing a box containing a playpen as well as baby moniters she headed back to the office. It took a short time to set everything up and she made a bit of racket re arranging the office furniture. It it was gonna be home for a little while she needed to make it safe and spacey.
Moving back out she picked theough the store managing to find random food items and bottled waters. Also there was clothing of use and even batteries and stuff to inflate a air mattress. Maybe her sisters were looking out for her and she went back to the office to bunker down. Putting batteries in the air pump she turned it on and the loud noise filled the air. To her knowledge she was alone and the place was safe so it didnt worry her. Once the mattress was on it she tossed a new blanket on it and curled up in the bed.
It was quiet and lonely where she found the tears finally escaping her eyes. For the first time her battered and traumatized mind went through the chain for events since they left their family home. She pulled her knees to her chest and just let the sadness strain the velvet surface of the air matress. "I dont know if I can do this." Her voice cracked as she laid there comepletely broken and wallowing his her sadness. "There is no hope."
The sadness kicked her very soul into a dark pit of nothing. Shifting from her curled up position she rose and her eyes fell on the sleepig child. The sadness took her knowing he would never have a real chance at life. His mother was dead and his father may as well have been. She found her feet and fingers found the hand gun on the desk. How could she sleep at night knowing the suffering this child would have. She found herself hovering over the playpen with the gun fixed on the child. She would end both their suffering and be done with this life. Her finger gently wrapped around the trigger and she paused.
