It's been a couple of weeks since Abel had lost his mother and father in an attack. The young man had a new mission and that was to make it back home to his town Benson Minnesota. On his travels, he would scout out houses or any buildings where he could get some sleep. He'd stay a night or 2 and would only leave if he needed to do a small supply run. Other than that he would only stay for a day or 2 then start traveling again.
As he finally reached his hometown he began his search for members of his mother’s family in rural Minnesota, the young man spending almost a year alone searching the rural farmhouses and armories of Minnesota in a hunt for his aunt’s and uncles who he hadn’t seen since before the war or more unlikely his grandparents.
But Unfortunately for Abel, he would find neither anywhere in Minnesota. He found nothing but death, and once in a blue moon, he would come across a few random survivors here and there. But none of them stayed around. Although some survivors told him some places to check out.
Survivor 1: Said there is a 7/11 store not too far away.
Survivor 2: Said there is a very large hospital but it is across town.
Survivor 3: There is a grocery store just East of here.
But Abel already knew that because it's the same grocery store that his mother worked at and it was the only big grocery store in this town.
Survivor 4: If you stay going East there are some warehouses and more warehouses if you go North.
Abel wrote down all the locations. Just north of the Twin Cities, he found the Isanti Sheriff’s youth ranch. He saw that there was still 1 police car parked out front of the building. He entered the building slowly moved around and searched room to room but nobody was there. By the looks of the inside, it looked like it had been abandoned a long while ago. He decided to stay at the Sheriff’s youth ranch and to make it as his new home. He spent almost a year and a half living inside there. It once used to serve as a base in the missile defense system many decades ago. The young man used the base's natural surroundings/remoteness as well as it’s still standing structures that were easy to secure albeit greatly gone through/scavenged. The young man started to run low on supplies and decided it was time to go on a supply run. He now had the police car but just needed to find the keys. He backtracked and made his way back to the Sheriff’s office to look around for the keys. He found the keys on top of the desk. He walked outside and unlocked the doors hopped in and started the car up. The young man remembered that 1 of the survivors said that there were warehouses to the North and East from the sheriff's ranch. He decides to drive to the warehouses to the North first.
He takes off and starts heading up North he pulls into the warehouse parking lot turns off the car and hops out. He grabs his combat knife and attaches it to his bulletproof vest then grabs his submachine gun then he scans his surrounding area but it seems to be safe. He makes his way to the warehouse and starts looking through the windows and sees that there is a bunch of people already inside the warehouse and he doesn't have the manpower or the ammo to take them all on so he decides to walk away. He hops back in his car and starts driving East to check out those warehouses. After a bit of driving, you finally make it to the warehouse on the East. He shuts the car off hops out and grabs his gun and knife. He decides to scout the warehouse out a little bit more so he walks around the back he finds a back door but doesn't discover anything else of significance.
He walks back to the front and decides to enter the warehouse through the front door. He scans the warehouse and spots the two zombies standing between you and two large crates (presumably full of the supplies). "I really need the supplies he says to himself" he makes the choice of just killing the two zombies. He stealthily sneaks up to the closest one as quietly as he can and pulls his combat knife out and stabs the zombie in the head. The zombie falls to the ground, dead (again). Then the young man moves to the next one, who is unaware of his fallen comrade and stabs him in his head too. He decides to stab them both in the head a few more times with his combat knife for good measure.
He then takes a quick scan of the area to see if anything else comes out, but you appear safe. After the quick battle, he decides to investigate the two crates. Unfortunately, both appear to be empty. It looks like whatever supplies were left here have long since been stolen by others.
"What the hell not again, the supplies are all gone," The young man said to himself. Unfortunately, since the supplies are gone now, you'll either have to return back to the Sheriff’s ranch empty-handed or explore and try to find some more elsewhere. You decide the check out the rest of the warehouse but don't find anything useful inside. As you are about to end your search in the warehouse you find a young girl sitting in the far back of the warehouse in an office. It's odd that she would be alone in the office, but then again everything that has happened these past few months has been odd. With no other leads, you approach the young girl and hope that she knows of somewhere you can find food. You approach the girl and she seems to ignore you for the most part, even after you try and talk to her. The young man goes back to his car and grabs the carrier with the cat in it. You walk back over to the young girl but she stays quiet.
"Meow"
Your cat decides to meow. The girl instantly turns around and stares at the cat. It's not hard to tell that she wants him, and maybe she'll become more vocal if you give him to her. You decide to give her the cat, you put him in your hands and extend your arms out to the girl. She hesitates at first but takes the cat. After petting him for a bit she seems to warm up a bit.
"Thank you..." She manages to whisper out.
After allowing her to pet the cat for a little while you explain how you're really hungry and ask if she has any food that you could have. She thinks for a moment and reveals that she has a secret stash of food and that since you gave her the cat she'll let you have some.
You follow her and she leads you to a small shed, she opens the door and reveals a bunch of military rations. You ask her about where she got all this from and she admits she took it from a warehouse (incidentally the same warehouse you just came from). You thank her for her help.
you pack the supplies into your backpack.
He asks the young girl where her parents are.
The young girl: I'm not sure where they are, We was across the street walking through the alley and a black car full of people rolled up and hopped out of the car and my mom and dad told me to run across the street to the warehouse and find a place to hide. But as I made it to the warehouse the two monster's followed me in here.
He looked at the young girl and told her it's not safe for her to stay here alone and that she should come with him. And he'll try to find her parents. The young girl agrees and follows him and tells her to hop in the back seat he hops in and starts the car up
