While Jasper was checking out the insides of the trailersshe was able to secure the first one that they parked on the property. She frowed as she watched everyone wander off and she frowned harder thinking that Arden probably fell asleep.
When Jasper came out and said everything was okay inside, she would double check and secure the cabinets that were hanging on the walls. Everything else, like furniture and knick-knacks were expendable in the grand scheme of things. He came back out and continued on about what happened to him as a kid out in the Bayou.
"Sorry about that. I mean, these boys out here play hard. Maybe they was just trying to toughen you up a bit." She wasn't a city girl by any stretch. All she knew, for the most part, was the Bayou. She grew up here and she was completely positive that she was going to die here in some capacity. "It ain't like that now though. We're just trying to survive, you know? The way I see it? If you're still alive, you're strong enough to stay out here now."
She shoved the wrench back in her pocket and placed a hand on her hip as Jasper spoke about Owen's brother. She knew exactly who he was talking about. "Jay? Damn. And he's all burned? I wonder what happened with them."
She looked towards the house for a long moment trying to think of what happened with the Leckard family. She could hear Daisy raising her voice and she narrowed her eyes a bit. She didn't like the sound of that and she was ready to protect the home they fought so hard to win back.
"Doctor friend? What do you mean? Is there someone else in there beside that cop that showed up? How many people we got now?"
She wiped at her brow and decided to take a break. Maybe she would go in there, but maybe Jasper was right. This was their family business, but she would intervene if it meant someone's life was in danger.
"Jay used to be a cop. I wonder if they had a falling out. I was kind of thinking about why Jay wasn't here, but then I just figured it was the same reason why Daisy wasn't here. I have a brother too. I was hoping I could find him again some day."
