As things begansettling downaround San Simeon, Sarah paced around outside on the grounds, wondering when the rescue vehicle they'd sent out would return; around her stood most of her sister's personal security team, most of whom looked about as mean and lean as tough-as-nails as Sarah figured they were. Where are they? she kept whispering to herself, glancing over at Thomas and the others as they kept one ear tuned to the area around them and the other to their radios.
Looking over at Thomas, Sarah asked, "Where are they?" in a tone of voice that brooked no discussion back; after a few moments listening and talking to Stephanie (who was with Tegan and the other rescuers returning to San Simeon), Thomas replied, "They just turned onto the access road; they should be back in less than ten minutes."
If they're lucky, Sarah mused deadpan; given how windy and long the access road to San Simeon was, they'd have to be on Indy 500 pace to make it up here in ten minutes or less, she thought. Smiling at Thomas, she said, "Keep monitoring the radios...and watch the access road; let me know when they're back."
Nelson sat there with his back against the truck bed. He had a knee propped up and was resting his elbow across it. He seemed to be comfortable. He wasn't showing how worried he was about his people on his face. His group back just west of San Simeon. They were a small group, but they were a well oiled machine. They had been together surviving through most of this and it was only around forty to fifty of them, but it was a large enough group that people generally didn't disturb them much. Nelson took off his glasses and held them out. They were dirty and smudged with blood. He strained to see them as he quietly wiped them on his dirty ripped up shirt.
Tamara: So uhmm.. Nelson, where are you from?
Nelson looked up. He smiled. He had been born and raised in Cali. In this area. He knew about San Simeon, knew about how big it was, but he believed it to be empty until he heard Julie talking about it when they were waiting for Tamara to come rescue them.
Nelson: Here Actually. I've been living here my whole life, even since I was a kid. Extraordinary right? to have been able to plant those kind of roots. I am part of a small community west of San Simeon. Not that far actually. How many people you got in your group? Maybe we could do a bit of trading between us if I knew what you needed, what you lacked.
Nelson's voice was calm and quiet. He was thinking quietly about his people, and making small talk to pass the time. He was just hoping they were ok. They stopped answering the radios after some rather disturbing reports went over the wire. He was on a supply run at the hospital with one other guy named Sid. Sid didn't make it and Julie was wearing his bullet proof vest and elbow and knee pads now. He quietly wondered if the rest of his people were dead too as he smiled politely at Tamara before looking off at the sun setting in the sky and watching the road beneath the tundra whip by.
Hannah had been upstairs a good portion of the time upstairs helping to pin Buck down to the bed as they worked on his face patching it up. When it was all said and done, she walked out of the room wiping the sweat off her brow. Walking down the staircase, she saw that some of the people were away from the door that Jenna was taken into. As she walked over towards it, she stopped in her tracks when she heard the moans and Screams coming from Jenna. She was screaming the name of Dana. Her heart stopped for a moment. But, she just smiled a bit. Hannah knew that things weren't the same between herself and Dana. Sighing to herself, she backed away from it and turned away from the door. Heading for the door, she stepped out the front door and began to walk up the access road. Hands in her pockets as she walked up it and her face looking down at the road. She just stayed quiet, not addressing anyone as she past them. The dirty blonde hair flickering with a breeze as she spun the ring on her finger for a while. Remembering when they first met, they're first kiss. Now she knew that Dana was going to be happy with Jenna, those two were like they were meant to be together. When she stopped walking, she was at the Peterbelt. Reaching up, she opened the door and climbed inside. Slamming the door behind her, she went into the back of the truck into the sleeper section. Taking off her weapons and her boots, she slid herself into the bed. Placing the weapons next to her as she looked up at the ceiling of the truck. Laying there, she felt restless.
Not able to get comfy, she couldn't sit in one place for so long right now. But she needed the sleep. Lifting her hand, she looked at the ring. Frowning a bit, she didn't blame Dana not one bit. Taking the ring off her finger, she threw it at the windshield and watched as it bounced off it and landed on the dashboard, nearly falling off it completely. It sat a quarter of the way off the edge. Shaking her head, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her cigarettes and her Zippo lighter. Lighting a smoke, she opened the side window to the sleeper section. Hannah blew smoke out the window. A desire began to fill her as she sat there thinking. Flicking some ash out of the window. Taking another drag from it, she slid to the edge of the bed and blew out more smoke putting on her boots. Tightening them to the max that her leg would allow. She stood up and lowered her riding glasses. Sliding her weapons back onto her, she walked through the front of the truck. Reaching to the visor, she pulled it down slightly and grabbed the Harley keys and pulled the keys from the ignition to the rig. Jumping out, she went walking down the access path int he back of the Castle to the trailer.
Five Minutes later
A roar of an engine was heard as it was kicked started. Shifting into first gear and holding the accelerator back, she went flying off the back of the trailer and landed hard making the bike bounce a bit and causing some sparks to fly out from under her. Slowing down a bit, she turned the bike and rode slow until she hit the access road and was letting it coast. Until she was near the mansion, then she opened the cylinders of the Soft tail making the engine roaring down the access panel. Leaning close to the Gas tank, her blonde hair flickering along with her Trench vest. Seeing the Tundra and Bronco's coming up, she stayed on the shoulder as she roared right past Tegan and her party crew. Hannah didn't slow down, she kept riding. Feeling free was needed and this was her way of feeling free. Hitting the PCH, she turned right heading north. The engine could be heard roaring up the highway as she weaved in and out of the broken down and lifeless vehicles that scattered across the road. A smile came across her face as she felt like she was part of the bike. Eventually, she reached a small town off the beaten path that was empty. The term Ghost Town fit this rather well. Rolling up to what looked like a hotel, she rode the bike right through the front doors. Turning off the engine, she barricaded the door with tables and chairs. Hannah needed some time to herself to think.
Nelson watched the scenery whip by and made small talk with Julie and Tamara as the odometer at miles, but it was time for him to leave. He was thankful for Julie and her people helping him escape that hospital of death. He truly was, but he had his own people to get back to and they were surely wondering where he was and where Sid was. Sadly, when he got back he'd have to inform them of Sid's passing. But such is life. You move on quickly or you are buried in heartache the rest of your life. Life was fleeting and the grieving process had to be shortened, or you would spend your entire life doing it. Nelson tapped on the side of the truck to let the driver know he wanted to get out. They were not quite back to San Simeon, but it could be seen from here. Nelson looked at it and smiled. It was a beautiful place San Simeon. His group was west of there. Nelson would find a way to steal a car and head back as soon as he hopped out. He didn't have time to visit, and exchange pleasantries with the couple. Nelson watched as Julie slipped her hand inside of Tamara's. A warm smile spread across his face.
Nelson: It was lovely meeting you two. I have to get back to my people now. I hope you do consider trading with our community Tamara. We could be valuable assets to one another in the future. In a few days. I'll send someone to San Simeon with some supplies, and we can show you what we have to offer. If he comes back with something from your community i'll know that you want to open up trade between us.
Nelson hopped out of the truck when it came to a stop and adjusted his backpack on his shoulders. He smiled at them both and waved before quietly turning and walking away. He began to hum an old song long forgotten by the world, but not forgotten by him as he made his way down the darkening street without a care in the world. His tomahawk gripped firmly in his hand.
Julie turned to Tamara.
Julie: Interestin fella. I can't wait to get back home skygirl. I want to grab Tyler and hold him and never let him go!

Here Actually. Nelson said as the truck continued heading north on the PCH towards the San Simeon access road; feeling Julie slip her hand inside of hers', Tegan smiled and began to relax a little bit.
"That'd be a good idea, Nelson," Tegan replied, quickly writing down a pair of radio frequencies - the frequencies that her group used, though, as she didn't want to give up the frequencies that Sarah and her small group at San Simeon used - and handing the small piece of paper to him. "There's our frequencies; just let us know when you want to set things up down the road." As they slowed for the access road, Nelson thumped his hand on the outside of the truck; while Preacher slowed down to let him out, Nelson spoke once more....
It was lovely meeting you two.
"Nice meeting you as well, Nelson," Tegan replied, "and you think about what I said earlier, okay?" she added as Nelson climbed out of the back of the Tundra and began walking along the PCH towards where he said his settlement was located at. ....after a few minutes.... When Nelson everntually grew out of sight of them on the highway, Tegan watched as Preacher brought the truck back up to full-song and turned onto the access road for San Simeon; as Tegan watched the scenery flash by them, Julie said to her, her soft Georgia accent floating in the coastal air like the most wondrous sound ...Interestin fella. I can't wait to get back home skygirl. I want to grab Tyler and hold him and never let him go!
Gripping her hand more, Tegan began to speak but didn't as the Tundra slowed down suddenly to allow someone on a motorcycle coming down the access road to go by; thinking she'd seen someone familiar, Tegan whipped her head around and said, "Wonder who that was...that couldn't've been Hannah, could it?" trying to remember who among them rode motorcycles amongst the group....after a few more moments of thought, Tegan let it go, figuring she'd find out soon enough when they got back; looking over towards Julie, she whispered to her, "I can't wait to get back home either 'cause when we do, I am going to seriously ravage you...," pausing to kiss her on the cheek, "from head....to toe, Peach...."
It wasn't long after Nelson left that Tamara was whispering dirty promises in Julie's ear and it only made her that much anxious to get back. She let out a sigh and snuggled a little closer to her wife in the back of the truck. Just glad to feel her warmth against her skin, and know that she wasn't dead yet. Julie thought of her adventure in the hospital, she thought about Nelson, and Sid and Mercy. She thought about how it was almost the end for her, but how she had somehow came out of the ordeal, stronger, wiser and more focused. More determined to see Tyler grow up, than she ever was. The truck hit a bump and Julie let out a startled yelp and started laughing. She rapped her fist on the window to the truck cap.
Julie: You tryna send our asses overboard in there? Watch out for them speed bumps!
Julie was yelling at Preacher but she was laughing at the same time. She couldn't help it she was in a great mood, and her body tingled at the thought of being alone finally with her wife. She reached over and pulled open the bags of medicine and supplies they had gotten from Sierra Vista. She opened up the bag and saw a note sitting on top of the pills. It was a hand scribbled note that she didn't remember seeing there. The letter from Sid was gone. Nelson had taken it when she wasn't looking, but he had left in it's place a note. The note read.
"Julie, you are stronger than you realize. Remember when you're out there, always keep a level head and you'll be just fine. - Nelson"
Julie smiled and showed the note to Tamara before tucking it back into the bag. She would go over a full inventory of stuff they got from the run later, the first priority was seeing her son and then it was time for her and her wife to spend the rest of the night just "appreciating" each other. Julie turned her head as the truck turned and she saw San Simeon as the truck rolled through the front gate. They had made it back in one piece. Julie hopped out of the truck and grabbed the bags. Hoisting them on her shoulder she grabbed her M16 and walked walking. She turned and stopped waiting for Tamara to catch up.
Julie: Come on honey! Putt'a hitch in ya giddeyup!
Julie looked up at the full moon and admired the moonlight glow that was now over them as it had turned to night along the way back to San Simeon. It was a full moon and romance was on her mind. She waited for Tamara wondering if something was wrong.

You tryna send our asses overboard in there? Watch out for them speed bumps! Julie said as they hit a bump in the road, causing them to slide around some in the back....shaking her head as Preacher got the Tundra steadied back up, Tegan joked, "Peach, remind me to tell Kern to give Preacher driving lessons sometime," chuckling as she tried to imagine that conversation...but her mind soon went back to the motorcycle she'd seen going down the access road. I coulda' swore that was Hannah on that motorcycle, Tegan thought as they finally reached the Main Castle at San Simeon.
Home sweet home, Tegan thought, whistling as the Tundra came to a stop; grabbing her HK-416 rifle and radio, she climbed out of the back, apparently a few steps slower than Julie, who called out to her... Come on honey! Putt'a hitch in ya giddeyup!
"Yadda, yadda, yadda," Tegan replied, adding, "Coming, Peach!" jogging up alongside her as they reached the front steps of San Simeon; above them, the moon shone brightly, almost lighting the way for them as Tegan thought once again, home sweet home....
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
