The time to venture away from the feed store had come. She was starting to get worried about the truck that had been making some funny noises. She wasn't sure if it was because the gasoline was going bad or if it was a part, but there were times where she seriously thought she wasn't going to make it home from runs. She didn't have anyone around to help her with these kinds of things and she knew she needed to do something about it.
She also knew going to the Junkyard may be the key to getting what she wanted. She had all kinds of time on her own and no one to really look after. She hoped she could find parts and books on how to fix a truck there. Surely they had to have some sort of educational material there that she could read up on.
Instead of playing it foolishly, she took a basket of eggs with her in case she ran into anyone and they wanted trouble. If anything, she could use them as trade for parts and things she wanted from the old junkyard. If no one was there, she was going to attempt to swipe a car that may be in better shape then the old truck. She was surprised it lasted as long as it did really. Then again, there weren't a lot of places to go anymore so she didn't drive it too much.
As she pulled into the gate, she saw it had already been knocked or fallen down and tire tracks, several of them. Some of the tracks had been washed away by the rains but there were still a set that were a fresh grove in the mud. She looked and saw some of the mud had trailed out to the road as if someone left and went south. It's possible there were others in there...it was also possible there was no one left. She could negotiate and she was pretty calm under situations. She just hoped if it got too hairy, she could get out of there with the truck. Either way, she always kept a gun on her..always.
As she pulled down the muddy drive, she didn't see any activity or movement, save for a rat in the weeds here and there. She decided to pull up next to the trailer that was on the property and used as an office. She had been here a few times before with her father when she was young, so she was familiar with the layout, just not the entirety of it. She hesitated and looked down at the basket of eggs next to her, mumbling a bit.
"I hope this works. Maybe I can take you all home with me after all."
