After a few days of Kyle being in the medical ward and going through minor therapy, Derick and a few scouts went out to the location that Lawrence and Ramona had given him and picked up the guy's PT Cruiser. They cleaned the store out of Everything that was inside, loading it up into the two Humvee's and he jumped into the PT cruiser. Turning the key, he heard that it wasn't running right. Putting it in drive, he took the lead of the convoy and brought it back to the island. Once he put the PT in park, he turned the key and killed the engine. Going over to a garage, he grabbed two heavy duty jacks used for Semi's. Propping them under the vehicle, he and another scout jacked the vehicle up into the air at the same time. There was enough clearance he could lower his head and walk on his knees under it. But he crawled under it and looked at everything. It was a mess underneath the poor vehicle. Whistling briefly, he sat up and began to knock gunk and caked on mud off from it. Once most of it was knocked off it, he looked more carefully and saw that his rear axle was bent a bit. Raising a brow a bit, he went to work in getting it fixed. Every now and then as he was working under the car, people passing by would hear Derick cursing. When he was done fixing the most major problems at the half way mark to the back, he focused his eyes towards the front of it. Sliding down a bit on the dirt, he aimed his flashlight and began to probe the car. It looked decent. Lowering the jacks back down and then sliding them out from under the car, he popped open the hood.
With a few tools in the back of his pocket, he looked at the small engine and laughed at it. Undoing the top of the header block, he took his rubber handle screw driver and had it touch the alternator, making it fire up the engine. Watching the piston's going up and down, he saw that there was one that wasn't moving that much. Going back around, he killed the engine and pulled at the key. Running to the engine, he checked all the fluids and saw that they badly needed it. 'I'm surprised it's not dead yet with next to nothing in it.' Walking to the garage again, he grabbed a quart of oil, power steering, 50/50 coolant and even transmission oil. Going over to the car, he cracked open each of them and poured them all into each spot until they all were full. Throwing the empty jugs behind him, closing them all up, he took the screw driver and waited a few minutes until he placed it back on the Alternator and fired it right back up again. This time, it sounded A lot better. Smiling as he saw all the piston's firing. Again, he killed the engine and closed the headers and tighten everything down for Kyle. Dropping the hood down, he looked up as he heard someone coming up to him. "She purrs like a kitten now." Is all he would say as he would wipe his dirty hands on a blue shop rag.
