The feast the evening before was interrupted by the queen going into labor. The festivities were brought to a halt after that and the baby was born. A daughter was born to the family and was the new princess. It was after that e queen passed out obviously ill and tired from the birth of the child. Cedric Took on the child for the night and got her drinking some goats milk from a hollow out horn bottle. He hoped dearly that his queen would be okay but men weren't allowed in the healing quarters. Waking up early to the sound of a fussy little princess he shuffled out of his bed and moved to the wooden cradle.
"Shhh why the fussing little princess. You are gonna be a ruler one day. No fussing needed babygirl." He spoke as he gently raised the baby and cooed to her. Making sure she was wrapped snuggly he carried her out of his room to the great hall were the servants brought some milk for her and his breakfast. Once the little princess was fed and asleep he held her carefully and used his free hand for his breakfast. After he was finished he ordered the servants bring out the guests who arrived the night before and his brother. They would meet and be assigned housing and jobs.
For now, he sat and hummed nursery rhymes to the little girl sleeping in his arms. From the moment he held her she was the light of his life. Didn't matter she wasn't a blood heir because he accepted her as his own. His gaze averted when all Otto and the new arrivals came into the room. "Lord Black, Lady Ivy and Lady Heather today you will be in the sparring arena. I want to see your skills. We need to assign you all jobs." He spoke looking at the ones before him. Standing from his seat he gestured for them to follow him and they headed outside into the sparring arena where other soldiers waited. Wooden swords would be there weapons and hand to hand. He wanted a show of skill.
