With a charming expression, the two shook each other`s hands. Immediately afterwards Psyche went back to cleaning her weapons, though managed to stay focused on the conversation. She told Charles that she had lived in the bunker with her ex-boyfriend and a friend, which had him wonder how they had managed to survive so long without murdering each other. She continued on to explain that she couldn`t sleep very well, and when she did she had nightmares that caused her pain. All of it made him worry about her well-being, though thought it funny when she added and said there wasn`t a lot of people to choose from these days, as if she was implying more had happened between her and the ex after breaking up.
“This is true; one should take advantage of what one got.” He answered smiling, trying to reassure her that he didn`t judge her, no matter what she had done. However once that was said, she went on to tell how she ended up in the bunker, saying it had used to belong to her father. The man had been a conspiracy theorist and it had led him to invest plenty of money to secure safety for his family, believing the worst about the government. An intriguing tale that had Charles on the edge of his seat, and when the girl opened a package of rolled cigarettes, throwing one to him, he accepted it with a nod and had it lit.
Taking a drag he was most surprised as she mentioned bringing the people at the ship to the secure underground facility, something he wasn`t particular fond of since he didn`t like most of them. If he could choose he would only bring him and those he trusted, but that decision wasn`t entirely up to him. “Oh? Really?” He asked with a frown, rather excited by the thought of living in such a place. Just thinking about it had his mind run wild with ideas, about the possibilities it would create, a much better place to be than the ship Jace called home.
Looking into the eyes of each other, she admitted she hadn`t thought others still alive, nor had she heard anything. As soon as her words trailed off, she followed up with the suggestion she had given earlier, allowing Charles to sleep on the couch if he wanted. It left him with a pair of choices, either he could sleep on a comfortable bed in one of the rooms, or he could stay and sleep on the couch. No matter what he chose however, she would stay up and guard the apartment. “Very well, I`ll stay. I wouldn`t mind keeping you company anyway, but I doubt I`ll be able to catch a shuteye with such a beauty in my presence.” He said and stood up, giving her a teasing wink.
As he took the seat right next to her on the couch, he puffed the cigarette and glanced at her from the side. “So em, you`ll bring the group with you huh, the people at the ship? That includes me and her, even though we ain`t really part of their gang.” Charles spoke stern, hinting at the woman sleeping in the other room, feeling no affiliation whatsoever to those at the ship, except Skylar. “You think that’s clever, inviting everybody, even those you don`t know?”
