Describe your character's life before the outbreak:
Before the outbreak Ali worked at Wyoming National Park as firewatch lookout. She spent months on end sitting up in her firewatch tower just keeping a keen eye out on the horizon for any potential forest fires that might be occuring. There were three other firewatch lookouts. The forest was vast and to much for just one person to cover all on their own. Her husband Henry worked at the park to, though it was technically not allowed for her to have visitors up in her tower. It was seen as a distraction and she should keep her eyes and mind busy on being observant, but that many hours concurrently sitting there staring out with her bionoculars was draining and it was mind numbingly tedious sometimes so her husband would sneak up to her tower. The isolation was pretty rough sometimes... She couldn't go visit with the other lookouts she just had to sit in her tower and wait, watch, and observe. She was always outdoorsy and she loved the nature of it all, sometimes on her off shifts and periods of rest she would go hiking through the forest just for the thrill. She had with her a radio and she chatted back and forth with the other lookouts to pass the time through her days in the tower... She had become particularly close friends with Simon Crawford. Though she had no idea what he actually looked like, she had spent many an hour joking and laughing on the radio. She had a pretty simple life, she would work for the summer in the firewatch tower and in the off season when it wasn't so dry and the risk of fire was low, she enjoyed being a stay at home wife. It's not like her and Henry needed the money she just liked the adventure of being out in the wilderness.
Describe what happened to your character on outbreak day:
Outbreak day for Ali McKenna was a lesson in what the world would soon become. Everything was quiet in her little tower. The day was hot and there wasn't a chance in hell she was going down for a hike, not today.. She sat there with her feet up on the desk and she was bouncing a tennis ball off the door and catching it when suddenly her radio burst out a chirp of static followed by paniced screams... She dam near fell out of her chair it startled her so much. She dropped the front to legs of the chair back down on the floor and picked up her raido. The transmission was from Alice Haprer. The nurse farther down on the trail... She was yelling about some guy being bit over the radio... Ali thought about what could have bit him, a bear maybe? She keyed the mic and tried to get answers, but the airwaves were clogged with them trying to reach out to Carl, who was the only one they could call for a medievac... They called and called over the radio, but Carl didn't answer... Ali sat in her tower staring at the radio, wondering just what the hell was going on. Come to think of it she hadn't heard a peep from Carl all day... Carl liked to flirt with her and he would go out of his way to radio her every morning, knowing she was married but he still radio'ed saying "good morning goregous has the forest burnt down yet?" He said the same tired line every morning and at this point it was strange not hearing it... She stared at the radio and wondered what was going to come next? The communications stopped... She keyed the mic again and asked if they needed any help....Alice radio'ed back saying that the lookouts needed to stay in their towers, that she had gotten the bleeding under control and that everything was going to be ok.... But it wasn't ok... The man had blacked out and he never woke back up... He died from shock shortly after... They didn't know what bit him, or where he came from.
For a good while they had no idea anything was wrong. They were relatively isolated in their little park. Most of the employees lived there. The firewatch lookout towers all had beds in them, work tables to get some work done if needed, they even had their own generators hooked up to each tower so they could have lights at night.... It was a few weeks after outbreak day Ali and her people started to realize something was wrong. When a small group of survivors fleaing from the dead found refuge in the park... The radio went crazy with talks of a group of people claiming the dead had come back to life and if you get bit you die. What the hell Ali thought? She radio'ed that she was coming down. She climbed down from her tower and started hiking... She listened to the back and forth over the radio of everyone discussing it, not wanting to believe it was happening, but Ali wasn't so sure... She thought back to a few weeks ago when that guy showed up who had been bit and died shortly after it... She radio'ed Alice that night and asked her what had bit him.... Trying to see if she needed to keep an eye out for bears as well as fires... What alice radio'ed back sent a chill to her spine.. She said the teeth marks looked human... Morris Harper the head ranger at the park decided to bury the poor guy when he couldn't raise carl on the radio for a medievac... It was hotter than hell out and it was better than having the body baking in the sun.... He buried it in a shallow grave right out behind the main cabin maybe three or four feet deep. He placed a grave marker so they'd be able to find him later... It was terrible, but they were miles from the nearest town... And they couldn't just sit there with a corpse all day....After about twenty minutes of hiking she made it down to the main cabin and was suprised to see a few other firewatch lookouts.... She recognized Mimi, she hadn't met the others in person.... But they were all wearing The green button up collared shirt she was... The one that said "Wyoming state park firewatch crew" She looked between the two guys and wondered which was her friend Simon she spent so much time talking to..
After what seemed like an eternity of aruging over what to do with the scared group of people, the arguing was silenced by the heard of walkers that wandered into the park.. There had to be at least a half dozen of them... This was the first time they encountered them and one of the groundskeepers for the park was bit along with a one one of the other park rangers... They were..... eaten by the things right in front of them... Ali didn't carry a gun at the time... She didn't need to... It was the collecitve efforts of everyone, including the group of survivors and park employees to take them down... One of the group shouted "you have to kill the brain!" Ali flipped out her pocket knife and started driving it into soft mushy temples.... When the dust settled two of her co workers were dead and everyone was silent.... Everyone execpt Ali...
Ali: What the hell?!?!?!?
Describe your character's life after the outbreak:
After the outbreak. Everyone banded together in the park. Deciding that if the world fell apart and they didn't know about it for weeks, then the place must be pretty safe. It was hard for the walkers to traverse the steep hills and hiking trails... They could do it, but it wasn't easy for them to get at the surivivors inside Wyoming state park... Most of the employees there already lived at the park.. They had no families or people they wanted to run off and look for upon hearing about the fate of the world. The job attracted mostly loners and everyone decided to stay for their own reason, but most importantly they did stay... They stayed they started farming land in the park and building crops and realizing that there were no more supply drops coming in, they started making a go at being self sufficant. They had vehicals... Somone would make a run into town if they needed something, but that was agonizing, because it took a few days for them to get back.. You never knew if they were coming back or not when they left... Ali now survives with her husband and co-workers always trying to make the park safer and more walker proof, because walkers do sometimes wander in with no gates to bar them out and no supplies to bulild them. Ali now harbors a deep hatred for the dead. After three years and the survivors that have come and gone from her life, ripped away because of the walkers... She hate them with a passion.
