Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
When he was a young kid, he always dreamed about being up in the clouds flying. Had posters, pictures and models of Airplanes of World War I and World War II. Jason didn't have much friends while growing up. The only thing close to a friend was his younger brother who was three years younger then him. In school he was bullied until he started to stand up for himself and fought back. He had gotten in trouble a lot with his fighting and putting a bully into the hospital. Through High school, he fell in love with a woman named Mary Farrira. They dated and soon realized that they both had the same dream, to be pilots. They enlisted around the same time after they graduated from High school. Getting high marks and scores through aviation academy. But when they were given their orders, he found out from a class mate that Mary was being shipped out on board The Nimitz while he was being shipped out on the John F. Kennedy and then sent to Fire Base Victory. She was to be pilot of one of the Sea hawks as a Rescue helicopter in case of accidents or if a jet was to badly damaged and had to bail.
Once he arrived at Base Victory, he was sent right to work by sending a squad of Special Forces Green Berets outside of the hot zone. When he flown them to their destination, the commander told him to be ready for him to pick them up. It was a black ops mission that wasn't going to be public. After a few hours of waiting at the closest base, he received the call for a quick and fast pick up from the commanding officer of the squad. Turning the Helicopter on, he flew right to the spot while skimming the deck, (Flying very close to the ground). Swinging his bird around, he hovered off the ground as they all were starting to take fire from insurgents. When the last man had gotten onto the helicopter, Jason flew the best he could with a damaged Helicopter. Finally, he had to break radio silence since the insurgence were chasing them down on trucks. " This is Recon 2 out from Victory Base, I am taking heavy fire from enemy Charlies. Requesting air support. " "This is Whiskey Tango 3, how can I be of services Recon 2?" The chatter went over live frequency as an Apache Long bow attack helicopter was flying towards him and his pursuers. "Recon 2, fly up high and I"ll take it from here." "Rodger, Whiskey Tango 3. And thanks for the aid." The Apache unleashed rounds from it's cannon. Bullets riddled the sand causing the trucks to explode. "10-4 Recon 2, I'll escort you back to base." He flipped off the radio and was escorted back to base. The next couple of days, he had made the repairs to his helicopter. A package sat on his bed when he went back for rest, opening it, inside was a trench knife that the soldiers he carried on his chopper had. A note was also in it. "If you ever need back up while your down, just hit us up. We will come for you."
Doing supply runs, Unit drop offs and night time Recon was thrilling to him for he never knew what he would encounter out there over the dunes. Almost being shot down a few times, he was a pilot alot of the squads wanted and he was given the nickname "Ark Angel" For he made sure that not one man was left behind, even if he had to climb out of the Recon helicopter and carry the wounded or even dead soldier back. Letters were sent from and to Mary as they stayed in contact. Near the end of the war, he was on a run that was on the coast. A radio distress call came over the air as he heard Mary's voice yelling Mayday, that a stray round had hit her tail rotor and that her chopper was going down while taking heavy enemy fire. On board his chopper was two Delta snipers. They both heard the radio and said to Jason. "Get us there, we will cover the down helicopter until rescue." "10-4 Sargent. Rescue Chopper 4, this is Recon 2 from Victory Base, we have heard your distress call. Give us your coordinates and we will give you and your crew cover fire." When the coordinates were given, he swooped his helicopter into action. Flying low to the ground, he pushed it for all it got to get to her in time. Pulling up on the yolk and joystick, Recon 2 went up over the rooftops that surrounded the down Sea hawk. The helicopter that had crashed was taking fire. The two Delta Snipers jumped into their mind sets and began to fire at each position. Finally, more help came in the form of APC's and a couple M1A1 Abram Tanks. He lowered his bird down as close as he could without damaging his rotors and making the scene even worse. Marry and her Co-pilot climbed on board and he flew them back to Camp Victory. That was the moment they decided that they had enough of the war. They retired and went back to PA.
Two years later, Jason and Mary got married. Jason was doing two jobs as being Airport mechanics and was volunteering his free time to help those returning from Service to Civilian life again, find them work, and had them to join his talk therapy circles to address their pains, problems, nightmares, and what they experienced over seas. He was doing this for Project Wounded warrior for he had received news about his brother John, who's team was ambushed while awaiting a pick up from a pilot he knew, that pilot that tried her best to save them was Tegan. He had no ill grudge to her for he knew that she would have tried to save every member of his brother's squad. But his brother was one of two casualties out of a squad of ten. Every 1st Sunday of the month, Jason would go to his brother's grave and place flowers upon his tombstone and a Model Helicopter.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
Jason and Mary Kern had off from work that day. The two of them had made plans to go to New York and visit a few of her family members. Jumping on the Interstate, she had to drive since he wasn't the one who she trusted to drive her car. Along the way, he was doing a new Model Helicopter for his brother's tombstone. A model OH-58 with on the tail saying Recon 2. Wishing it was he and not his younger brother that was killed, Mary was the only person that kept him going as he would wake up at night screaming John's name. After an hour of crossing the boarder to New York, the Radio began to state that there was an Emergency and that all people were to take shelter. People were attacking and even eating other people the reports stated as they were coming in live over the News Broadcast station. Looking at each other, Jason took out his Glock 26 from the glove box. Some people tried to stop them asking for a ride or just bluntly tried stealing the car. His gun went off when a doped up gang member tried to get Jason out of the car. The gang member laid on the ground with blood coming out of his chest. But he wouldn't stay down for long, Jason watched as the Gang member got back up and went after a woman. She tried to fight him off, but she tripped backwards and he fell on top of her. Ripping her flesh off her arm as she tried to get away again. Jason quickly got out pulling out his knife and plunged it into the guys head. Going limp, Jason pulled the blade out the gang member's head and the woman didn't bother to say thank you.
The sound of gun fire was heard followed by the sound of a Helicopter going down. They tried to get to the area that they thought it went down, but there was a wave of people stopping all vehicle traffic and even more attacks. Jason and Mary bailed their car and ran for it. Taking shelter in an apartment complex. Jason broke down a door of a room near the top of the building. It was empty except for two sofas, a couch and a fridge that was nearly empty. With them both in it, they pushed the sofas up against the door to block it for the time being. It was the place they called home for months until he saw signs saying. "The Hive. Rikers Island. Taking in Survivors. " He and Mary packed up their very little things that they found and moved out during the day and bunking down at night. After almost a month of navigating through the ruins of New York, they finally reached the hive to be met by the familiar face of his war days. Tegan. After that day, he was put to good use by helping with training people how to shoot, break down their weapons and to clean them properly. Urban survival was another big thing he taught everyone in case they had gotten separated from their group or if their vehicle wrecked and couldn't get back before night fall. But there was always a couple who gave him a hard time while he tried to teach other; Dana Dillinger and the person who called himself Pocketz.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
During he days as a HIVE Recon unit and Scout, he would go into the city and gather supplies both he and Tegan needed since they both had the same idea. To rebuild their choppers. He had found an OH-58 at an abandoned army base. Three of the Helicopters there were badly damaged. Jason had picked the one of the lesser evils. Taking parts off the other two and placed them inside the helicopter's passenger compartment. They had to flatbed it back to the HIVE's Maintenance area to be worked on. But Jason's was more easier to fly then the little MD-500. Finding parts for his chopper was easy, just go to any news helicopter and yank the parts from it since they all are OH-58 variants and are interchangeable parts. But the MD-500's parts were a bit harder to come across. There was a wager of who would get to the skies first. Competition between two pilots, but a friendly one. The bet was, whoever get's their Helo into the air first would take charge of the group Recon Group. Within two months after the wager was made, Jason had called Tegan to maintenance where he was sitting inside his. When she shown up, he began flipping the switches. The engine whined a bit, and soon, the rotors began to spin slowly picking up the speed. The maintenance bay door was big enough for his helicopter to leave and return . The crew pulled the doors opened and out he went taking to the sky. With his headset connected to his radio, he heard Tegan say over the radio. "Nice Job Jason, looks like you won the Wager. But just remember who won at the Green Zone."
Over the time, he flew his OH-58 across New York picking up survivors, supplies from Detroit, and most importantly, he would drop off parts he could find for Tegan. On one day, he was on a run and saw some people trying to hold a door shut as it was beginning to sway from alot of pressure. It was a woman, and two guys up on top of a 21 story tall building. Flying around, he lined up the side of his helicopter to the edge of the building. Yelling and throwing a hand around, he got their attention. The first person to run over was the female, Molly Washington. Then the two guys both let go and bolted for him as a massive horde of walkers were right behind them. Drifting the helicopter away a bit, they had to jump. The first guy to jump was a man dressed as a cop named Alex Frost. Then the second guy had lost his momentum and leapt only to grab onto the leg of the Helicopter. Adjusting the controls a bit so the helicopter didn't sway or spin from the sudden jolt of uneven weight, he flew his chopper to the next building where he lowered his bird down to the roof so the guy could get in properly. This man was a Marine named Jon Alister. Upon returning to the HIVE, he made a request that he would want them to be part of his Recon Team. He was told for him to have them on his team, he would need to start teaching a bit of Aviation mechanics, flying, and safety in Helicopters.
So with the help of Tegan who was one of the other only pilots left on the rock, they taught different groups at different times. Eventually, Recon team grew to four teams. One of the team's was his Wife, Mary Kern who was Recon 2's Leader. With the run's to Detroit, they would fly in a small group of two helicopters where the other two teams would stay at the HIVE to do whatever it is they are ordered. (Either search for supplies, survivors, or to scout out for parts for the Tundra's or Helicopter parts.)
-------------------------------Recently-------------------------------
Jason and Mary with their Recon teams went flying to go to Detroit to pick up supplies and to drop off things for their trade, three heavy crates that says "DONT OPEN!". But when they reached Michigan, they heard over the radio that the HIVE was under attack by walkers and request help. Swinging both their birds around, they flew back to see if they could leaned a hand. Upon returning, they saw that the HIVE was breached. Flying low, their side support Gunners began to open fire to try to buy those in the court yard time to escape. The body counts began stacking up on both sides and it looked like the dead was starting to gain more ground. Then the one thing he always worried about came true. "Recon 2 leader, watch where your turning. Your getting to close to the towers." "Roger that Recon Leader 1, adjusting -Bang, Boom!- Mayday, Mayday! Recon two going down, I repeat, Recon 2 going down. Can't control her anymore...We are going" The line went to Static as he saw his wife's tail less Army Olive green Loach Helicopter spinning out of control and eventually crashed into the rocks just outside of the wall. The explosion caused the west wing wall to collapse as he screamed and cried into his headset. His wife was now gone. Depression came over him as his Support gunners reported that they were running low on ammo. Turning the stick, he flew the helicopter away from the HIVE. Across the bay, he landed on the biggest building that could see the island. The next morning, he took his team back over. Cleaning up the remnants of the horde in the Courtyard, it gave him an area to land his OH-58. While Molly fueled up the chopper, Jason and his remaining two team members went inside, cleaning room to room.
After a week of killing the walkers and checking the list, it was noted that there was 60 members missing. Scout team. When he saw that Tegan was still missing. Hope had still been inside of him. Most of the Tundra's were also missing. With the remaining parts left around and salvaging parts from the other Helicopters, him and his team began to finish up the repairs on Tamara's little bird. Once they finished, Molly was given the order along with Preacher to fly the black bird behind Jason and Wolverine as they were going to find the scouts, one of the last groups left alive from the HIVE. Taking to the air once more, they begin their search for Tegan and her Scout squad which to find out is now an Army. "Let's go! Birds in the air in 10. We got Scout's to find, and a Pilot to reunite with her Bird!" Taking to the air, they flew west back towards Detroit. It was a logical choice since the owners at Belle Isle were allies to the HIVE and in thinking, he thought Tamara would head that way.
