Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- During Derick's middle school through his Highschool days, he was known to be a scrapper. A person who won't back down from a fight. On one occasion, Derick was pushed into a fight where he was out numbered three to one. He was able to best them for a while until one of them bent a steel yard stick over his back causing him to fall from the pain. Thats when the punks decided to take the advantage of them. That was the same day he met Rhett Diggler, who was walking home from school and saw what was going on. He ran over and plowed them over, pushing them off of Derick. Derick forcing himself back up onto his feet had a swollen eye, but put his fists up. Everyone know not to mess with Rhett for he was a bit of a crazy guy, even back then. Derick would go over to Rhett's and learned about vehicles. Once Derick graduated highschool, he already had a job lined up for him.
Rhett had pulled a few strings and gotten him into a position where he would fix the engines and rebuild the rear drive shaft. They worked together very well. They played poker together and even raced together to see who's car was fastest back then.
But Derick decided one day to change his life by joining the army and wanted to become a member of the Corp of Engineers so he could help make a difference somewhere that they needed work to be done. He dug his heels into the studying that he was told to do, did the PT, firing ranges, all the different trainings that were asked of him. He graduated and had his dream come true.
His unit was sent around everywhere helping rebuilding buildings or barricades before or after a major storm, to building a base out in the Middle east. Every now and then, he sent a letter with a photo to Rhett and his father of the new areas he was, and the vehicles that he worked on; which included hummers, APC's, Light striker Bradly tanks to him working on the Engine of an M1A1 Abrams. With the money he was getting, he sent half of his pay check to his father who was having a hard time with his bills since he was diagonsed with cancer a year before the outbreak happened. His father went to Florida to see about a cancer treatment.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- Derick was back in the states rebuilding a school that got damaged by a tornado out in Spartansburg South Carolina. Once they were completed, he was going to go back to his old stomping grounds and surprise Rhett by stopping in and see about helping his old friend out with a car or two. They had a lot to catch up on since more of his R.R's were spent with his father who needed all the help. This time around, his father didn't want his only son to see him weak and in the condition he was in. As he was getting a ride by a platoon buddy on interstate 56, they heard over the radio that all units must reunite with their Units at the designated base. That civilians were attacking others, including law enforcement, EMT's, and even members of the military. When they converged upon the base that their corp was at, it was already under attack by looked to be zombies or horrible test subjects that went wrong. Sliding up into the .50 caliber machine gun, Derick began to fire into the massive horde. The sounds of the Evacuation orders over the radio was heard as all members of the military were to retreat from the bases that they were at and regroup in Vermont.
Sounds of engines starting was heard on the other side of the gates and they came open with a small convoy of Hummers and deuce n a half rigs rolling out and through the horde, not stopping for anything. Derick and his buddy Don went for them, but heard that one of the Hummers were flipped over, then another and then another. The screams of men and women being ripped apart alive filled the radio. Don switched off the Radio, but stayed on course for their orders to Vermont. After days of driving, stops for fuel, water, food, and the occasional bathroom break, they reached Vermont to only see that the base they were heading for was nothing but multiple craters scarring the surface of the landscape and the dead had filled up the craters from missile strikes.
Shaking his head, he figured that there wasn't any more of the military left. That them two were the last ones. They went their own ways from there. Don went driving back to his home state of Maine, while Derick had to walk back to South Carolina.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- Derick had become a drifter, not staying in one spot to long in this world. He would stay in one spot for no more then a week or two, depending on how the walkers movements were in the area. He would do this as long as he could until he reached to his home state of South Carolina. Happy yet sad at the same time, he went to his families home where it was looted. But there was one spot they didn't care to look. As soon as he stepped inside the house, Derick shut the front door and pried up the floor boards right there. Underneath was his father's shotgun with a set of keys that had a little Demon head hanging off it. Grabbing the gun, the keys and extra box of shells, he went out back to where they had a wall of bushes covering his fathers garage. Cutting the door free with his military issued Gerber mark 2 Fighting Dagger, he lifted up the door and saw the covered beast. Taking off the cover was his father 1971 Dodge Demon, 340 GSS. Most of it was Mopar purple. The hood and roof of the car were Glossy black. Getting in, he fired the engine right up, filled bags with the tools that were laying around the boxes and walls and tore out of there like a bat out of hell. Following some signs and finding a lot of what use to be safe houses were destroyed or over ran by zombie hordes, he finally saw a sign on his one day of looking around. "Wasteland, in 10 miles. The east coast version of Las Vegas. Come and be a sinner." Smiling to himself, he Floored it. This is where we pick up on the story of Derick Creed in, The Walking Dead: Survival.
