Whoever found those American flags ought to be commended for finding them, Tegan thought as she sat down inside one of the large conference rooms inside the Hive's command center and thought about the meeting to come. Leaning forward, she caught sight of the bracelet Julie had given her and smiled; it reminded her not only of their love for one another but also of her place in that relationship....it made her feel good, special...loved.
Removing the message she'd been given by General McArthur the day before, Tegan studied it, looking for anything out of the ordinary, anything out of the ordinary....if it was up to me, we'd already be allies, Tegan mused...but its' not up to me. It wasn't hyperbole either: although she had the authority, given to her by the Hive's other Overseers, to negotiate with the West Point people, she did not have the authority to make any biding agreement: that would be up to the other Overseers, who would make the final decision - without me in the room either, she thought somewhat glumly. For a few minutes, she thought about who would side with her....she knew Marcus would side with her, that was one vote...but she'd need a total of three votes minimum and given the other overseers' general opinion of her - an opinion strengthened by the actions of her predecessor - Tegan knew it'd be a long slog convincing them.....but I'll do my best, she whispered quietly as she waited for the others to arrive.
Julie confidently took a seat right next to Tegan at conference table... Something she wouldn't have done only yesterday, but after the events of last night... Everything that happened last night. She was more confident, more empowered. She was more self-assured... Julie smiled a bit when she caught glimps of the bracelet on Tegan's wrist... The bracelet was a ment to imply something very personal and very intimate between them... It was like an inside joke shared only between them and it was worn so proudly... Julie took note of it as she placed her hand on Tegans'.. It was a light reassuring touch to let her know she was there for support and she would help in any way she could. Tegan was in charge; authroized by The Hive to a certain degree to handle things and it was in face impressive.. As the Hive's Combat Overseer Tegan was in charge of defense for the whole place! And she was taking the reigns firmly in her beautiful hands now... Juile couldn't help once again to be in awe of her... Her commanding presence as she sat there quietly, stoic as usual and brave.... Swimming out into unsure waters with so much at stake... The pressure was bound to be tremendous... It was what drew Julie to her in the first place... Her strong presence and larger than life presence as well...
Julie: Let's be about it....
Julie quietly whispered... It was only her and Tegan in the room at the moment, but still there was an electricity in the air... A pins and needles feeling of empending events... She couldn't help but notice the hair on the back of her neck was standing up... Her skin seemed to be alive, crawling with anticipation... This was historic... No matter what happened here today... It was two strongholds meeting to talk about an alliance... Two communities trying to put the pieces back together of a shattered world... And Julie had a seat at the table for it. Right next to her wife, and best friend Tegan.

Walking towards the Hive's command center, General McArthur thought about the conversation she had had that morning with President Michner, who was back at West Point,, and the fact that she had basically had carte blanche' to making any agreement with the Hive - subject, of course, to West Point's approval - and it surprisingly filled her with dread.
"Something the matter, General?" Major McKenna asked. Smiling at her chief of staff as they entered the command center, the two took off her ACU uniform caps and began walking to the conference room. "Nothing that won't keep," McArthur replied, the sound of their boots echoing softly in the air....after about a minute, they reached the conference room where their meeting was supposed to be at; Major McKenna opened the door for the General (simple military etiquette; the junior office always opens a door for the senior officer), who strode through, ready to meet her counterparts on the other side....
Elza felt it was time to get up and give her body a test drive, she had rested enough. She wasn't going to leave whatever compound she was in, so if something were to happen, then she would be fairly close to the medical ward to help her. For now, she just wanted to get out. As soon as she got off of her medical gurney, she slipped the medical gown and pants off so she was in the nude, and looked around quickly to look for what she was looking for, something she found within a minute of searching. It was her traditional, and favorite, red white and black racing firesuit with a gold accents on it around the fixture of the suit itself, a word on the upper breast portion near the zipper, saying "Raccoon", was a sponsor of her as a small but hopeful brand in sportswear, and she wore the suit to honor them even to this day; that, and it was thick enough to ward off a majority of zombie bites while acting as clothing. She found her bag was nearby, and bent down--with some effort and pain--to hoist it up onto her strong shoulders with a whimsical sigh of relief.
Starting out, she opened the door and walked down a ways and managed to leave the medical building under the impression that she was a discharged patient; that couldn't be further from the true, only she discharged herself. She knew in a place like this, the more she looked around in awe at it all, the more she knew she wouldn't have to do anything reckless unless she had to leave or was in trouble. Walking out just a minute or so, she noticed a couple women, one that was important-looking one and another who was younger but more militaristic. With a smile, she slowly but surely made her way to the pair, apparently mistaking them both for being part of the compound, something that was confirmed by what she said next, "Cheers, loves. Do you two know where this place is? Is it okay if I come along?", she asked in a friendly manner, her voice accented by a slight Australian-English twang but nonetheless held acuity and clarity.

Shauna was a few steps behind General McArthur in her own little world. The only time she had paid extra attention was when they gave her a medical check and she had paid attention to the point her sister would be proud off. All the information Shauna gathered big or small went into her small hardback note pad. It was strange not having her sister beside her, she was a hawk when it came to the noticing the little things, but she had to take this journey without her and try to focus on the job. Since the fall they had done next to everything together and had always been just steps away from each other. Before leaving had swapped there necklaces with each other as luck and all Shauna could do was hope she been taking care off. Shauna and Sinead had been fully open about Sinead's medical problem. But with medication Sinead would be herself again and as long as she got it, Shauna would serve the General.
Shauna was too busy rubbing the the necklace with her hand to notice they were approaching a door, she was a step to the side on route to the door frame when one of the General's men for the fifth time that day pull Shauna back on track and with one hand on Shauna's shoulder guided through the door. With a blank look that Shauna decided to place the necklace away and keep focused. But inside been apart from her sister left her feeling empty inside.

Pausing for a moment as Major McKenna kept the door open, General McArthur wondered who this woman standing near them was....was she a member of the Hive? A visitor? A newcomer? She thought about the question and wondered what the right answer should be; after a moment, she answered, "Yes, you may. Major, hold the door for them, please."
Post by BG Anne McKenna on Jul 26, 2016 9:28:47 GMT -5
"Yes, ma'am," Major McKenna replied as she held the door open for first General McArthur, then Shauna, and then to the newcomer who'd just walked up to them; keeping an eye on all of them, she waited for them to walk through and then followed along, closing the door. "I believe its' just up ahead," McKenna said as the four of them walked towards the conference room.
As they did, McKenna thought about the change in rank and position she now held; where she'd once been a simple 1st Lieutenant and an infantry commander, she was now a brevet Major and Chief of Staff to General McArthur, which meant she now had greater responsibilities. Where before she only had to worry about just the troops under her command, now she concerned herself with making sure that things went well for the general, went well for West Point....in Past Times, a position of hers' would've been held by a Colonel....but these times tax all of us differently, she mused as they reached the conference room; grabbing the door, she held it open so that General McArthur and the others could enter, then she would follow them inside, closing the door behind them...

Noticing how tense Julie seemed to be, Tegan reached out and squeezed her hand, gripping it in an effort to calm her down. "Relax, Julie, relax," Tegan said, "worse come to worse: the Hive shoots down an alliance. Wouldn't surprise me....other than Marcus and Fran, I'm not sure if the rest of the Overseers--"
Before Tegan could finish her words, the doors to the conference room opened and their guests entered: General McArthur, Major McKenna, along with two civilians who Tegan figured were there at the general's request...security, perhaps? she mused. That made sense: after last night's events, Tegan was surprised that they hadn't bolted already from the Hive...no sense scaring off anyone before the festivities begin, she added. Getting up from her chair, Tegan shook the General's hand, a firm confident handshake. "In case I hadn't said it before, welcome to Rikers Island, General McArthur," Tegan said, introducing both her and Julie to their guests...

Elza, being a smart cookie, knew to stay quiet for the most part save for when she, and the others, were being spoken to as she came inside with the others. Walking forward, holding her abdominal area lightly in doing so with a slight limp, she heard the beautiful brunette in front of her speak to them , and so she was the first to reply, waving towards her, "Hello, love. I'm..not with these fine people here, I just came from...somewhere.", she said, not noticing she had the medical bracelet still on that denoted her as a patient, something she had in plain view as she looked around. She felt a bit awkward having her hair down, she usually had it up in its ponytail...she'll fix that later. Regardless, her blue eyes shifted from the brunette who she has yet to know the name of, and then to the women from before, noticing that there were 3 women with them now out of the entourage, including her.

Having entered the conference room a few moments after introductions were being given in order to pass along some last-second instructions to Tegan from the rest of the Hive's Overseers, Bam saw Elza there and wondered, 'what is she doing here?' especially after....
After saying a few words to Tegan - and saying hello to Julie, thinking, When did Tegan get that new bracelet of hers? - Bam walked over to where Elza was and said quietly, "I see you're doing better, Elza...ready to have that conversation from last evening?" motioning towards the door as if to say, there's business about to be conducted here and neither of us needs to know what is going on...just yet, anyway.
Post by Elza Oxton on Jul 26, 2016 15:45:03 GMT -5
"Hm? Oh hello, it's you. Sure, is now a good time?", she asked Bam with a tilt to her head but nonetheless started for the door, wondering what was going to happen, at least a few of the people in that room look like they are not from here...then again, what did she know? Regardless, she opened the door and stepped through, and held it open while waiting for Bam, peeking inside to see if he was coming.
Julie looked up seeing the flood of people who entered the room... There was the woman from the night before who had stayed with her while Tegan tracked down her attacker and finished him off... She shivered slightly as the thought of Beckett's horrid face entered her mind... she didn't want to see that face as long as she lived... There was a much older woman; who julie surmised was in charge.... Then there was rather odd woman in a jumpsuit of some kind? She looked out of place... She might has walked in the room with a clown nose on. Then Bam came in and said hello to Julie and she smiled and said hello in turn... She knew that Bailey was fond of him, and from what Julie's heard.. He's kept Bailey out of trouble multiple times.... Thank god for kindness right? Julie was still holding Tegan's hand and gave it a nervous squeeze when the room was just left to the four of them... As confident and self assured as she had become she still NEEDED Teagan to be the strong one at times... It was a balancing act and they balanced each other's strengths and flaws perfectly... Then for absolutely no reason at all Julie started thinking about promised maragaritas on the beach she was promised and never recieved.... Blushing a little bit she let the thought fade and focused on the task at hand... forming an alliance with west point... Julie didn't know squat about west point, but she had read the letter already so she could at least way in... Even if it was get some questioning "how does she know that" looks from everyone involved... Turning to Ann she added in a quiet voice....
Julie: Thanks for your help last night...
Not bothering to cover the stitches on her neck with her hand or her hair; she was no longer ashamed of them.... She squeezed Tegan's hand lightly again as if to say "Okay....Here goes!"
Post by BG Anne McKenna on Jul 27, 2016 1:45:50 GMT -5
Watching as more people entered the conference room, Major McKenna looked over and saw the woman - Julie, I think she said her name was, she thought - who'd been attacked last night, the stitches clearly showing on her neck. A brave girl she is, McKenna thought, running in her mind all the things they would be discussing. Even if we don't become allies, she mused, it will be good for them to know that there's another stronghold--
Suddenly, Julie whispered something to McKenna; it took a moment for her to register what it was she'd said.... Thanks for your help last night...
"No problem," Major McKenna said, comforting Julie as they sat there, waiting for the meeting to begin, adding in a quiet voice, "I could be wrong here - and I apologize in advance if I am - but something seems different about you today, Julie; is something the matter or....?" She hated even asking but she could spot changes in personality and it'd been bugging her a bit, so she figured she'd go ahead and ask...couldn't hurt, could it?

Shauna sat in a seat to the side of the General, it be a pure lie for her to say she wasn't nervous and not wishing that she could just make a run for it. It wasn't that she didn't trust the general's men to do there job, they had stopped her from making a fool of herself a few times today and she had seem proof they had good intentions in the long term. Shauna's problem was that she was over thinking. But she was here now and had be on best behavior. She remained seated as she took a look at hive's members in the room, mainly to spot if they had any noticeable medical issues or problems.
As she waited patiently slowly her hand moved to her pocket and took out the necklace. As before she began to fidget with it and began to doubt if was worth having herself along with this meeting. All she could do was wait and see.
As Julie sat there she noticed the girl (Shauna) playing with her necklace... She seemed nervous... Julie got that she was a little nervous herself....She couldn't help but be a little neverous there was so much on the line here... The future of both of these communities rested in the balance.... Julie's hand was still safetly inside the hand of Tegan's, her wife when Ann asked her if she was ok.... That she seemed "different" Julie thought about this for a moment... She was different. Between Beckett's murderous attack and the events of last night between her and her wife a lot has happened to her over the course of the last 24 hours... Funny enough.... She wasn't scared though. By all accounts she should be horrfiied right now, trembling like a leaf looking around every corner checking under every bed unable to believe that Beckett was really dead..... That's how the old Julie would had reacted, the julie that was once held by Zane... But this Julie was diffrent... Stronger, more focused, and self assured.. Slowly she had felt herself chaning as well.. Her wife had given her more confidence in herself. The Hive's gun training program, Surviving Beckett's assult, Everything that happened between her and Tegan within the confines of the walls of their private quaraters... Everything that has happened to her recently has been slowly molding her from soft puddy to tempered steel... She was becoming hardened... Privately, Julie was the one that called the shots in their relationship, held the keys and pulled all the strings... But outside when amongst everyone else... Tegan was in charge.. She was brave and beautiful and much stronger than Julie in many regards so Julie couldn't help but be in awe of her and admire her for the strength she had, the iron fortitude... Julie squeezed Tegan's hand when she asked if if she was different and if she was ok.... She squeezed her hand before lacing her finger's through Tegan's and raising Tegan's hands to her lip to kiss the back of her hand sweetly...
Julie: I'm great Ann... Better than i was yesterday..... In everyway possible.

I'm great Ann... Better than i was yesterday..... In everyway possible.
"That's nice," Major McKenna replied, genuinely pleased to see Julie in good spirits; with all that happened last night to her in terms of her being wounded, it wouldn't've surprised McKenna if Julie had not shown up here. Tegan is one very lucky woman, she mused, as the meeting finally came to order.......two hours later....
Well, that went rather well...shame things didn't work out, though, Major McKenna thought as the meeting finally broke up, both sides having agreed to remain friendly but no alliance between the two strongholds. A disappointment to be sure, she thought, but it was still good to at least meet their counterparts here in the Big Apple...as she got up from her chair, she walked over to where both Tegan and Julie were and wished them the best of luck; as she walked out of the conference room, Major McKenna looked around and, for just the briefest of moments, had a bad feeling wash over her.....like she was seeing the place not as it was at present but as ruins; it frankly frightened her a little but she kept the thoughts to herself 'lest she let them build up inside her....setting them aside, she quickly rejoined General McArthur outside and set the thoughts aside for the time being.
Post by Tamara "Steel Wolf" Lyell on Jul 27, 2016 14:45:18 GMT -5
Walking outside the conference room, Tegan was disappointed that there wouldn't be an alliance between West Point and the Hive, but she still had a job to do, that of Combat Overseer...as her and Julie began walking away from Headquarters, someone began calling out her name; turning around, she watched as one of the Hive's Scavengers ran over to her, message in hand....
Listening to the man explain what was going on, Tegan's lips pursed; if what he was saying was true, her and her Scouts would be clear on the far end of Brooklyn, scouting out a location for a potential future Hive Outpost...a multi-day trip, she mused, adding, we better pack accordingly. "Julie," she said as they stood there along the Hive's main boulevard, "looks like we're gonna to be getting you that trip off the Island you've been craving," almost laughing at her comment but not laughing. This was serious, she thought; the Hive's Overseers were essentially considering creating another Outpost and it would be up to her and her Scouts to check out the location...there was so much to plan for and do and that's what had Tegan's mind going at the moment. It was one thing, she thought, for them to drop this on us with some lead time to prepare but to do this now, even if it'd been planned ahead of time...
Shaking her head, she looked over at Julie. "Apologies for that, Julie; I'm just surprised they're dropping this on us so soon, practically right on our laps right now," shaking her head a moment. "Remember those two duffel bags we've got in our closet, the ones with clothes and a few days worth of supplies? I need you to get those; grab a...," pausing to whistle at motion one of her Scouts to come over to them, "take McGhehey with you, have him carry those duffel bags for you. Make sure everything we need, we've got; I gotta' lot of stuff I need to get done and," pausing to kiss Julie on the forehead, "I'm gonna' need you to help me, here? I'll see you down at the Armory, okay?"

As the meeting broke up Shauna remained close to the General knowing been near to her was the most safe place possible, still she felt nervous as hell. She had to give the hive members credit, this place was run like a tight ship and security was tight. But still there was a feeling of the need to leave. She lightly touched Major McKenna on the shoulder for a second even if to make herself feel more as ease,
" Your staying near yes? " Shauna looked at her nervously," This place with so many people... well it makes me nervous, "
Shauna once felt the same way towards them, unsure and not willing to trust them. But it wasn't long till they proved that they weren't the same as the unit that took her out of Ireland.
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
