Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-Dixie grew up in Poulence but eventually moved a bit out of the parrish to go live with her boyfriend Asher after 2 years of college. She grew up in a hostile home, with her father getting drunk and hitting her mother on occassion. She felt like that was a normal household, abusive and angry but made a promise to herself to never be with a man like her father. She tolerated it until she could finally find a way to be on her own with some friends from high school and as soon as the opportunity arose she left home and started working while going part time to community college. She worked as a personal trainer, part time to help with expenses and that's where she met her boyfriend, Asher. He came from a family with money out of old New Orleans, with a family name having been established as soon as the first colony was created.
Asher was twenty six and she was twenty two when he opened his store in Raceland, halfway between Poulence and New Orleans and was quite busy with it, while still trying to seduce her. When she graduated with her associates degree, Asher brought her in to work in the suppliments store. It was growing to a health conscious community and he had her work the front while he managed the back. As the company grew, a few more employees were hired and she managed over them. Soon, they outgrew their space and he moved them to a plaza that was owned by the infamous Crowe family. She didn't know anything about that, but because she was getting so busy with work and growing the shop, she decided to move in with Archer. That's when she saw another side of the man she had fallen in love with.
He had a dark side and that dark side was turning on her when she least expected it. She knew Archer was taking a cocktail of suppliments that he sold in his store and it was making him a different man. She was living with the man she grew up with and had become far too dependent on him. At first it was verbal abuse and cutting her off from her friends before she had to endure the physical and by then, she was in such need of her job, she couldn't leave. She knew she had to, but she relied on him now. She was isolated as his addictions grew worse and more illegal.
That's when the visits from the Crowe boys started to come. Once a month, demanding payments from Archer, making him more aggressive towards her. But there was one Crowe in particular that she seemed to be fond of. Beau would come in looking for Archer, although he would usually come, once a month, during a time he knew Archer wasn't around. He would flirt, they would talk and she was starting to take a shine to him even though she knew she should fear him. One time, Archer was there though. He saw Beau and her flirting and that meant trouble. The combo of drugs caused Archer to hit her in front of Beau and in that regard, the Crowes became knights in shining armor to her. Archer spent three weeks in the hospital.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-While Archer was in the hospital, the outbreak happened. She was alone, trying to have a sense of normalcy and keep the shop up and running, letting her bruises heal and hoping things would change even though the fear of that change kept her paralyzed. It wasn't until the last visit to the hospital that she realized the country's chaos had infiltrated. She barely saw Archer before she was evacuated away and told to find shelter, as if a hurricane was coming. Last she heard, Archer was not going to make it any ways, so she fled back to their apartment where she has been ever since.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
-The apartment building she shared with Archer was also owned by the Crowes but they never came back for rent money. Some fled, some died, others stayed until they could stay no longer. Her penthouse, only five stories up seemed secure and people would come and go. She would help them, try to feed them, fix them up but no one ever stayed. She was starting to feel feral and alone, like a stray cat doing what she could to stay alive. Her cone of existence seemed to be coming to an end, but she kept her mind busy. She created a series of crude zip lines through the trees to keep herself busy when she wasn't hiding from hordes or fighting off one or two. She managed to make a line across the street to a home where a family once lived and when she needed to, she would escape to the tree house that was built in the back yard, meant for a child, but enough to keep her safe. But she couldn't stay this way, not much longer now..
