Age:

Gender:
Male
Appearance:
Parnell is a well-built man in his early thirties. He stands tall at 6'2'' and features wide shoulders and a broad build. He is packed with mostly muscle, and looms over most that cross his path. He is statuesque in his gait, as well as his appearance. His eyes are set beneath strong brows, a bright blue, and he features a strong nose. His lips are full, and his set jaw and face are prickled with a light beard. His hair is dirty blond, and it is kept long on the top and often appears tousled. The hair along the nape of his neck is slightly scruffy, but not kept long. He is French, and while his features themselves are attractive, his demeanor often makes him appear more harsh and intimidating than he would expect.
Occupation (studies and job before the outbreak):
Before the apocalypse, Parnell was a level two sommelier in his father's restaurant. Shortly thereafter, he was a bounty hunter.
Hometown (city, state, country):
Parnell was born in Orleans, France. He lived there with his father, mother, and little sister until he was fifteen. His mother's unfortunate passing was the catalyst that moved the family to Poulence, Louisiana.
Relationships (relatives, friends,...):
Parnell had a very deep, close relationship with his father, and it influenced all of his other interactions in life. He was close to his mother, and was deeply wounded by her passing. His little sister, Madalyn, is the apple of his eye. He is closest to her out of anyone, especially now that the world has ended. He is extremely protective of her, and it bled into his interactions with the townsfolk. For the most part, Parnell kept to himself, though he did make an unlikely friend in the form of Jude Hastings. He kept his distance from many people in the Bayou, though he was well-acquainted with the Richards. Because of his affiliation with the police department, he worked with Bryce Crowe and Jay Leckard on more than one occasion. He liked Jay and got along well with him, though he disliked Bryce due to his suspicions about how he handled his family's business. He had been to more than one party at the Crowe Manor, and after deciding that he thought they were bad seeds, did his best to keep them far away from Madalyn.

Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Parnell was born in Orleans, France. His father was a restaurateur and his mother was a baker. Parnell's father was highly successful within the realm of French cuisine, and the family lived a happy life, only made brighter by the birth of his little sister, Madalyn. He had a close relationship with his father, who taught him the value of family and how to treat women. As such, Parnell grew up with a deep respect and appreciation for both his mother and his sister. He was fifteen when his mother passed from cancer. Her death wrecked the family, and Parnell's father had a difficult time running the restaurant that his wife helped him create. Finding it too taxing, he sold the restaurant and moved the family to Poulence, Louisiana. He wanted a fresh start for his family, in an opposite setting from what they were used to.
Parnell did not adjust to the move well. He was shaken over the loss of his mother, and felt more comfortable speaking French than English. He learned quickly, however, and kept to himself as he went through school. He excelled academically, and as soon as he was able, he went to work for his father. Unable to resist the call of the culinary lifestyle, his father had opened a restaurant in New Orleans, and with the help of an investor, it took off almost immediately. By the time that Parnell took his active interest in the business and cultivated it into pointed wine study, his father owned and operated a Michelin-starred restaurant. Young and eager, Parnell worked under his father and became a sommelier. He had a nose for wine and a love for the business, and succeeded in passing his level two sommelier exam by the time that he was in his mid-twenties.
But nothing could ever be so easy. Unbeknownst to Parnell's father, his investor, Emilio, had ties to the New Orleans crime family. At first, nothing seemed amiss. But as time went on, and both of his children came to work for the family business, Emilio had his eyes on the young adults for different reasons. For Parnell, he saw potential in the man's bulky build, in his size and his strength. He made a proposition for Parnell to work for him instead, as a bounty hunter for the police department in Poulence. Happy with his life in New Orleans, Parnell politely declined, but soon learned that it wasn't a request. Emilio explained that getting people to pay what they owed wasn't a problem for his men, but a dead man couldn't pay, and it was always an issue when they ran. He told Parnell to go and work for him in Poulence, or else he would find a way to suspend the restaurant's liquor license. He made a few choice comments about Madalyn, and fearful for the consequences if he refused, Parnell left his family's business and returned to Poulence.
He was bitter and angry about the switch, but knew that there was nothing to be done. He worked out of the police department, and in that time, he met both Jay Leckard and Bryce Crowe. He and Jay both had an excellent moral compass, and he took well to him. Bryce was protective of his family, but Parnell came to find out that it was in a different way than Parnell was. He suspected something was off in his police work, but was never able to catch him. He came to know Avery Richard through his trips to her gun shop, though the two rarely spent time together outside of business. The only thing that kept Parnell content in Poulence was the presence of Madalyn, constant and comforting.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
On outbreak day, Parnell was working a case. A man with a murder conviction on his head had skipped bail and was running free in Poulence, and Parnell was hot on his trail. He was a bit distracted by all of the news buzzing around about a virus and riots, worried for his sister and his father, but there was no time to waste as he tracked the man into the swamps. Parnell couldn't travel in his truck any farther, and he got out on foot to trail him through the muck. He was as quiet as possible, but soon enough, he heard screams coming from the distance. Parnell raced to the sound, and he found his man, though he was not alone. Another man had risen from the swamp, barely recognizable, and was feasting on the man's leg.
Horrified, Parnell tried to save him. He managed to push the attacker back into the swamp, and he handcuffed the perpetrator for his own safety. Together, Parnell helped the injured man back to his truck. He tried to call for an ambulance, but the lines were clogged. He buckled the handcuffed man into the passenger seat, and although he raced to the hospital, the man died halfway there. Unsure of what to do, Parnell tried to call his superiors, but the man awoke with milky eyes and thrashed in his seat, trying to snap at the bounty hunter. Parnell was shocked, but was more surprised when another figure like the one in his car chased a woman into the woods, making a terrible snarling noise.
Needing to act fast, Parnell knocked the man upside the head with the back of his baton until he stopped moving. He kicked him out of the car and raced off to find Madalyn at the veterinary clinic that she worked at.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
Once Parnell found Madalyn, the two of them rode the first few days out in their Poulence home. Their father never came home from New Orleans, and as soon as he was able to, he took Madalyn in search of him. With all of the chaos, it was hard to break into the panicking city, but once he got there, his life would be altered worse than any apocalypse could manage. In an effort to protect himself and get supplies, Emilio had killed Parnell's father and ransacked the restaurant for supplies. Enraged to find him there, Parnell got into a fight with him, and he ultimately killed Emilio. With nothing left for the pair in the bustling city, Parnell took as many supplies that were left and fled back to Poulence with Madalyn, thinking it safe to be away from people.
It wasn't long before Parnell found Jay, his old friend from the police department. He and the others were held up in the police station, and Parnell took up residence there with them. For a little over two years, the group lived, with safety in numbers. He was happy to be able to foster Madalyn and help her grow during the trying time. Parnell pulled his weight, and it was looking like they would stay solid for more years to come. But Jay's brother, Owen, came to try and join up with them. Jay forbid it, and as a result, Owen came and burned the place to the ground. Many of the men stationed there died, though Parnell was able to escape with Madalyn. He and Jay went in opposite directions, and Parnell got set up with Madalyn in the home just above the veterinary clinic that she used to work at.
For the past seven months, the pair have lived there. Parnell scrounges the Bayou for supplies and weapons, and keeps Madalyn close to him. She is all that he has left, and he protects her with every fiber of his being. Distrustful of others and very cautious, Parnell steers clear of others and spends his time only with his sister. For all he knows, they could be the last two people on earth. And Parnell would be okay with that.
