Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Zoey had a rather jovial time of her life when she was younger. Occasionally, her father, Wade, a police officer, would sneak her into movies that were usually 18+ in age, such as slasher films, horror films with zombies or vampires, stuff of that nature. With this continued exposure to such films, she grew to love the film making business. Such a luxury didn't go without strains, however. Her mother, Carolyn, found out about their excursions and fought with Wade over it. This continued for several years, well into Zoey's high-school years with each encounter escalating, escalating to the point Wade began to see potential in Zoey joining the force "like her old man", and so began to take her to a shooting range to teach her how to shoot guns in general. Eventually, her parents divorced where she would stay with her mother, as she now lived with her boyfriend, Kevin, in the house Wade bought for them years prior.
Her parents bickering didn't leave good marks for Zoey, the stress of the situation caused her to suffer academically. She went to college in Aldrich, Philadelphia in pursuit of film, under a film scholarship. She had a good start at first, but as time went on, she began to slack and her grades plummeted. She'd spend more time watching horror films such as generic zombie and vampire films in her dorm room all day instead of studying. The day she went back home for spring break is when Hell broke loose for her.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
One night, her mother and father were meeting in Wade's apartment over dinner to discuss their daughter's future and career. It never ended good in these sorts of situations. While they were talking, a seemingly homeless man waltzed into the apartment, apparently Carolyn hadn't checked if the door was closed properly or even locked. Carolyn backed up with Zoey from the table while Wade got closer to the man, trying to tell him to leave and that he was trespassing. Trying to restrain him to forcefully take him out of the building, however, was his worst mistake; the man took the time to bite a clean chunk out of Wade's arm!
In shock, Carolyn went for Wade's jacket where she knew he kept his pistol when he was off-duty, and aimed it at the homeless man that was further assailing her ex-husband, and shot him clean in the back of the head. Zoey went to her injured father's side, and was brought to tears when he tried to speak to her. He questioned her about if she remembered when they saw the parts of a zombie movie where they would have to kill whoever got bitten. Tearfully, Zoey answered "yes" to him, that they always made fun of those parts. She thought he was going to get better, that he would heal with the hospital's work. But it was too late...Wade took several shallow, dying breaths in the form of a "good-bye" to Zoey before relaxing, his eyes glossing over with a deathly white. After calling 911 under Carolyn's request, Carolyn would suddenly feel her blouse being tugged down by a familiar hand. It was Wade who, after several minutes, took the opportune time to yank Carolyn down and bit into her and then neck, killing her easily with screams filling the apartment. Zoey screamed as well, backing up some as her infected father would be aimed at by a pistol of her own, a Browning Hi-Power he bought for her some time ago.
Not knowing what was wrong with her father, she tearfully held the gun to the level of his forehead, just like she had seen in the movies...what a pain irony that had befallen her. She couldn't bring herself to pull the trigger, and resigned to just let him take her. Just as his clutches reached around her, threatening to make her his new meal, a new sound of gunfire rang through Zoey's ears, causing her different-colored eyes to widen in surprise. Her father's body fell limp, and she was covered in his blood. The whole experience caused her to lose her voice. She looked up, and a tall, large black police officer who told her to come with him, which she did. Upon exiting the apartment, Zoey fainted, prompting the police officer, who was named Edgar, to carry her via piggyback through the streets that slowly grew rampant with the same infected that consumed both her mother and father...along the way, she came to and found she was in the companionship of the police officer and another pair of survivors, who she eventually learned were named Ellis and Nick. Together, they set for new horizons to find away to escape the city...
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
3 years later, Zoey was a more hardened survivor. With circumstance as a culprit, Ellis was killed during exploration with her group. Following his death, Edgar and Nick both gave final farewells to him, with Nick being the one to provide her with Ellis' hat which she promptly put on in his memory. During one of their adventures, her chrome-themed Desert Eagle was the first gift she got from Edgar almost as soon as she showed she could wield a gun, and he taught her how to use one further with her new present. During another adventure, Ellis gave her a katana he had found in the hands of a late dead survivor, calling it "the katana of love" as a joke because he found it in a Tunnel of Love amusement ride in a theme park. With Ellis gone, and eventually losing track of both Edgar and Ayden, Zoey was alone...her loneliness like fuel to a flame in her ever growing desire to find them. She will turn the whole state of Pennsylvania over on its head if she had to!
It wasn't going to be easy, of course, not with her injured left leg, apparently it was a sprain and apparently scratched during a scuffle with an undead enemy that she had to put down along he journey.
