Describe your character's life before the outbreak?:
- Before the outbreak Nancy Fairick was a household name in Virginia. Or at least in the Hampton Roads area.... She was on a popular morning radio talk show. Her co-star; Deslin Bryer was the serious one of the two and Nancy was the wild crazy funny one of the two. The two worked very well off of each other. Nancy would bring a few laughs if Deslin started getting to serious and Deslin would reel Nancy in if she got too "off the wall crazy". The two were a hit with the ratings, they were top of the charts every week. The show was called "Off the wall With Nancy and Deslin." Nancy had everything she needed a good job, a loving husband, a beautiful daughter. What more could a woman ask for right? Wrong. That was when Freddie died. No body saw it coming. Freddie died when a bus crashed as he was sitting on it on the way home from work. She got the call after she pulled into the driveway. Sitting in her car hearing the news that her husband and sweetheart since highschool had died she broke down. Something in her snapped. She felt like part of her had been ripped out. Freddie was a huge part of her. They did everything together and now he was gone. Nancy didn't do well after that. She stopped eating for awhile, she lost weight, her co-workers worried about her until she was eventually replaced on the show for not showing up to work. She didn't listen to the new show. She didn't listen to anybody who tried to pat her on the back and tell her it will be ok. She had a hole in her life now. A giant gaping hole where her heart used to be. She would do anything to fill it and stop the pain.
What happened to your character on outbreak day?:
- On outbreak day Nancy was out. She didn't really want to leave the house, but she was out. It was the memories that haunted their home that drove her out. Everywhere she looked she saw something that reminded her of her Freddie. She had to leave, to get away from the nostalgia that threatened to rip her to pieces. She didn't know where she was going. Didn't care she just got in her car and drove. She sat in the car driving in silence. The radio was off. She barely listened to it anymore.... Another painful reminder of a life she once enjoyed. Tears rolled down her beautiful face. She pulled up to a long line of cars. What was going on up ahead? Was there an accident? Why were there so many cars waiting to get through? It looked like rush hour at the interstate. She sat parked in her car for a minute or two before laying on her horn in frustation and anger. This wasn't fair! She was pissed off at everyone and everything. She just wanted to escape the ghost of her past and now she was stuck here in traffic with nothing to do but be trapped inside her own troubled mind. She wanted to scream at the top of her lungs to make the pain stop, but she sat there sliently somehow composed. Tears streaming harder down her face now. She had no one. Her daughter moved out when she turned 18 and it had been just her and Freddie. Her daughter tried calling of course, but Nancy didn't answer. She was numb, she didn't want to talk to anyone at all except the man who was forever out of her reach. Her phone buzzed on the seat beside her.... That was her daughter now. When the buzzing stopped her phone showed 13 new texts. She picked up her phone, absentmindedly clearing her inbox when something caught her attention...... text after text of something crazy.... "answer your phone 911!" "are you there? are you safe?" "Did you get out of the city?" "mom please i'm worried pick up let me know your ok" "on my way....." That last text shook her from her self pity. What was going on? She turned on the radio.
Newscaster: Again we have reports coming in from all over the country of attacks. Savage attacks seemingly at random no one is safe we suggest you get out of the city and densly populated areas.... if you can not leave please lock your doors and remain inside...."
She turned off the radio. She looked up and saw a man stepping out of his vehical to complain about the traffic. Horns were blarring all around them. No one was happy about the hold up. The horns attracted the recently deceased and a walker attacked the man who stepped out of the car.... Oh my god she thought as she pulled the car away from the traffic jam and drove as far and as fast as she could....
Describe your character's life after the outbreak:
- Somehow Nancy had survived. It's been three years since the outbreak. Most of them were rough. All of them were brutal. Nancy found herself on her own, she hadn't really found any people that she trusted enough to stay with, afterall a woman by herself could be considered a target. She was right. She found herself captured by a group of men who used women as rewards. They were handed out to use and abuse as a way to say job well done. Nancy was one of those women held there. However; about 8 months after the outbreak hit, there were still some stray dogs left in the city. Most of them had starved off but a few lucky one's had always managed to find a bit of food here and there and keep living. Looking for food one day Nancy found herself in the woods staring at what looked like a dead deer. She had been so hungry she didn't think to check if anyone else was there to claim it. She was attacked by a pack of wild dogs. The one that got her face changed her life forever. They were only scared off by a guy in the woods who happened to be hunting. It was him who shot the deer. He had come to claim it when he saw the woman attacked. He went to help her, but couldn't bare to look at the disfigurment it the attack had caused. He opted to leave her to die in the woods. He figured he didn't have enough supplies to take care of it and she wasn't worth the effort. He grabbed his deer and loaded it up and sped off. When Nancy was taken by the bandits to be used and abused. None of them could look at her face opting to take her from behind or just use her as a bitch to keep the place clean. Nancy was still numb. Like she had always been, so she survived her abuse long enough for the day when Julie Archer had killed Zane's men and set all of the women there free. Julie had saved many women's lives that day including Nancy's. Nancy rode in the van in silence. Something was said about an amusement park. When they arrived at the Busch Gardens stronghold Nancy was all but unintersted. Her Freddie was dead her daughter was probably dead and her face was horribly disfigured to the point where someone raping her couldn't even stand the sight of her. She was a shell of the woman she once was... That is when Julie's brother Lane had shown her the first bit of kindness she had seen since her husband died. She was struck by him. Like he had shaken loose in her, her beating heart that she thought was was long gone. She was going to find a way to make that man hers she needed to feel his kindness and love for her always.... It was the only way she was ever going to be happy again.
