---This will be a flashback type thread from when the group was still at the park before the roadtrip thread that took place---
(Lane and Charly)
It had been a few days since everyone had met, Lane had mentioned going on a road trip soon and everyone was trying to prepare for a temporary split. Charly was working away on anything she could find. Trying to keep her mind busy....They were going to search for members of their families while they were out. Charly's only family was her dad....and she had mixed feelings about searching for him....What if he was dead? She wasn't sure she could handle it.....at least right now she had the sliver of hope that he was still alive to cling to. Her hand went to the silver locket that hung around her neck. She reached back and pulled her hair to one side before unclipping the small clasp. She opened the tiny heart and held it in the palm of her hand....a younger version of herself and her smiling father looking back at her. A sad smile came to her face, she could still remember the way he smelled. The way he would embarrass her in front of her friends and she never could stay mad. How he had always protected her...
She sighed, shutting the heart with a tiny click before she got too emotional....Things needed to be done, now was not the time to turn into an emotional mess. She tried to get the chain to hook back, even pulling it around to the front of her neck and trying to look down to clip it...But for some reason she just couldn't get it to catch. "Damn it...." She mumbled. She was sitting on the boat dock....and that was a huge step for her....it moved and jostled with her steps. After several attempts at getting her chain to latch she finally just sat there with it in her open hands, looking around for someone that could lend a hand....Brina maybe....Fritz....She wasn't sure about the kids...the older one was pretty hostile and probably didn't want to help her put on a necklace....Lane?
She had taken her shoes off and her toes were just skimming the surface of the water, she was too afraid to scoot all the way to the edge. She suddenly felt the dock shift, as if someone were walking on it and grabbed for the boards beneath her rear. In doing so she dropped her necklace..thankfully it didn't hit the water but fell into the cracks between the boards of the dock....and she couldn't reach any part of it even with her small fingers. "Shit! no no no...." She said quickly, panic setting in. That was the only piece of her father she had left....and it was a gift and a picture all in one. She tried to squeeze her fingers between the boards to no avail, finally looking up to see who had scared her in the first place.
Lane was tall, and sitting down as she was he seemed even taller. She peered up at him, blinking through the sun hitting her in her eyes. "Lane!" She looked down at the dock. "My locket fell...I gotta get it back....". She bit her lip, wondering if the man who was little more than a stranger would help her out.
