The next morning......
The sun was up and the natural light poured through the many windows of the mall. The electronics store was off to the side and still reletivly baked in shadows. Julie was sleeping rather comfortably sitting up against the counter. Charly's head was in her lap. Her eyes fluttered open and she blinked a few times not really remembering where she was. She looked around amazed at how peaceful and quiet it was. There was not the stentch of mold and alcohol assulting her as soon as she woke up. She wasn't waking up to electric shocks or waking up with her soft skin being sliced with a box cutter. She was waking up to birds chirping and the soft snores of her brother's crush. It was a bizzare feeling, but she welcomed it truely. Julie quietly slipped out from beneath the slumbering blonde and looked for the others, the other blonde and her great protector were sleeping, but where was the redheaded girl? And where was Lane for that matter. Shit! had she not made it back during the night? Julie turned to Charly and was about to wake her when she stopped herself. Are you fucking serious Julie? How can you expect this poor girl to do anything, man up and do it yourself. Lane wouldn't be scared you need to find her. She knew Lane would be back for her. He had found her now and nothing in this world was going to stop him from making it back here, he probably hit some delays, but he would be here she knew that.
"Damn it Lane, where the hell are you? You should be doing this i'm not strong like you."
Julie said biting her lip. She walked to the shutter and peered out she couldn't see anything from here. She found a makeshift weapon. The leg of a camera tripod she broke over her knee. At least the end was jagged and pointy, had she need to take on the dead. She lifted the shutter making sure to close it behind her and leave her slumbering friends safetly hidden inside the store. The dog looked up at the noise of the shutter rising and falling. Julie put her finger to her mouth and and shushed him and he laid his head back down. Julie turned to see what looked like a desserted mall. She could here movement somewhere she couldn't tell where it was coming from. She quietly searched from store to store. She had heard her brother say the woman's name was Sabrina. At least she had a name to softly shout.
"Sabrina! ...... Sabrina! ........ Sabrina!"
Julie was scared that the thing that answered her calls wouldn't be human, but she continued to call them anyways. Her hands were shaking as she clutched the tripod leg against her breasts. With the light spilling in through the windows, you could clearly see that she had several cuts and burns covering her torso ribs and back through her tattered clothing. Her knees were dirty and bruised her face was caked with dirt and tears. Her finger missing skin from where she violently tore the ring off of it and cast it out into the night. She was tired; physically, mentally, emotionally. And in this moment she didn't know what to do. Why didn't she freaking know what to do? Lane would know what to do, but she was clumsily wandering around the mall shouting the girls name, in hopes that someone would hear her.
Julie called out again for Sabrina and what called back was the growl of a walker who had found it's way downstairs during the night. It had fallen down an exelator and stood up upon reaching the bottom, it was the only walker that had made it's way downstairs from the second floor, but her foolish calls had attracted it's attention. The thing lunged at her mouth wide ready to take flesh. She screamed and shoved it back. She turned to run and ran knee first into a bench. The metal bench cut her leg and she fell to the floor. She scrambled backwards trying to think. 'Think girl think!' She looked around all the stores around her the shutters were down and locked. She had no where to turn. She couldn't run back to the store with the sleeping girls, they were in no shape to fight this thing and neither was she. This was it? She survived Zane's hellish nightmare, to go out like this? She froze with fear. She couldn't think of anything to do other then to scream and shield her face. If this was the end she didn't want to see it coming. She covered her eyes and waited for death.
