Sarah stared at him, "I don't want you to go at all, I want you to stay where I can keep an eye on you." She smiled at him, 'I will stay here, and I think Abby and Addylin should stay too." She glanced at the window, 'There is something off with her and Abby...her being there would be a distraction for Max, just like me and you." She sighed, "I will be alright...we won't let anyone in. You are only going to be gone a day...two, we can manage, and We can even stay inside, just to make you all feel better." She knew if they kept the place dark, and didn't show signs of life, they should be alright.
He shook his head at her comment but like her words always had they were calming him down.
"Addilyn seems ok when she has something to concentrate on but maybe your right. I don't know about Abby though. Something tell me she's not going to want to be left behind. She's a fighter, maybe if I asked her to protect you..."
He was in commander mode now, planning how he would elicit everyone's support and how he would frame it, and further then that how they would go about the actual run.
"With only three of us it's going to get dicey, but I think your right. We need a group here to protect the farm. This whole damn run is useless without the farm, and less people means more space for the gear we'll need. We can't take the other cars incase we run into a pack. The Knight will survive a pack but those other buckets of bolts, not armored. Maybe we should see about fixing that eventually."
His mind was racing. He had started to put the pieces into place.
"God I hope they don't have a picture of me anywhere."
That last comment was meant to be a thought but it was spoken out loud. Sarah knew and excepted him but who knew what the others would think, Max wouldn't likely care, unless one of his relatives had been in one of those lines.
"Ok. I'm done with my food, and we had probably better get some sleep... I vote we flip the mattress cause I don't want to sleep in the same spot as they were in."
He was mostly rambling now but he needed to slow himself down or hr would never sleep.
"We'll bring it up to the others tomorrow after breakfast. We should do this sooner rather then later. I don't want to lose the nerve."
Sarah sighed, "Charlie...you got to let that go, that is not you, anymore." She leaned over and kissed him, "You hear me?, You are not the same man, and if there is a picture, to hell with it." She grinned at him, and then sighed, "Yea...i am getting cold, and as for Abby, let me talk to her, she might surprise you, she is not dumb." She pulled off the blanket and stood up, curling it around her arm. "Tomorrow...let's get a good nights sleep first." She moved to head back inside.
Charles obliged her and headed inside he was actually really tired after the day they had and he would love to get some sleep.
"I hear you, I'm just concerned about what the others will think if they find out. Max would take it alright but I don't know about the others."
Once they were inside he let his words trail off. As they ascended the stairs he could hear both Abby and Max's voices coming from the bathroom though he he had no idea what they were talking about. He decided he would leave them alone. They were probably enjoying themselves and there was no way he was going to be a cock block.
Sarah stopped near the top, 'I should check on them, and one of us needs to take watch, I slept , you need to go and rest." She kissed him and then went back down. She hug her coat up on the back of a chair, and grabbed a blanket off the table, before heading into the living room. She held her 1911 in her hand and sat it on a table next to an arm chair. She went to the door and dead bolted it, knowing the other doors were locked tight as well. She then went back and sat down, spreading the blanket over her lap. She stared at the fire. She cold hear Addylin, talking to herself. Yea, this was going to be a long night. She spoke softly, "Addylin....try to calm down...please...you're safe...please don't hurt yourself." She didn't look at the girl, just looked into the dying flames. She would have to stoke it soon.
He didn't want to sleep alone but Sarah was right. He returned her kiss and then walked into their room. Wow, that sounded good in his mind. It made him feel more human. He didn't have time for much musing though. He would need his sleep for tomorrow. He went to the bed, flipped it upside down after removing the sheet. He quickly went in search of a linen closet and was excited to find a new blanket and sheets.
When he returned he was glad to notice that most of the smell had left the room. He put the old bedding out of the room and put the new ones on. He expected to toss and turn for a while but as soon as his head hit the pillow he was out.
Addilyn knew almost everyone was asleep but Sarah when she woke in the night. She stoked the fire and sat in front of it a big shirt was all she had on. She brought her legs to her chest stretching the shirt over her legs she watched the small flame burn. Visions of the dogs chasing her, her sister be murdered, and the death of her parents flashed in her mind. She shivered. Addilyn wondered wondered if she had found a safe place to stay and be accepted as who she was. She knew there were other thing to worry about than being accepted, but it still felt good to belong.
"Anyone awake?" she whisper yelled into the dark. She knew Charles and Sarah went up close 20-40 minutes ago and Max and Abby were already in bed. Maybe Declan was up. "Sarah? Declan?" she whisper calls again.

Sarah shifted in the chair. She had seen Addylin get up and sighed. Poor kid. She pulled her blanket up around her shoulders a bit and shivered slightly, "I'm here Addylin." She had blown the candle out hours ago. She should probably go and wake up on of the others so she could get a few hours sleep, 'Are you alright? I was about to go and wake up Charlie to take watch." She stared at the girl infront of the fire and then rose and moved over to the fire. She placed on a new log and watched as it caught. The warmth began to grow in the room.
A small smiles appears on Addilyn's face "Hey Sarah" she says quietly "I won't sleep, so I can take watch" She nods and keeps her eyes on the fire. "I'm perfectly fine, just...just" she sighs "Never mind" she could feel the warmth of the fire on her toes. She rests her head on her knees the fire reflecting in her hazel eyes. "I wish this would all be a dream, and I could wake up now" she says in a whisper "My family is dead. All the people I cared for and loved, gone. Just like that." she lets out a soft laugh sound, which was like a big exhale "I had this stuffed cat. Stupid, I know, but it meant something to me" she rolls her eyes "but, now I know it's gone now"
Sarah stared at the girl and felt a pang of sympathy in her chest. She was standing next to her, and took her hand and smoothed the hair on her head, then reached out and touched the girls head, 'I know...trust me..we all have lost those we love...but it's not over, family are those who care about you, who take care of you, Charlie is my family now, and I would very much like for all of us to become a family, to take care of each other." She smiled down at Addylin, "Listen, i know things are not like they were, never will be, but try to make something new. " She lowered herself and looked at her, 'I know.." she reached out and gently touched Addy's arm, 'I know the need you feel to do this...but please...try to talk to us, to let us help...that's all we ask." She smiled at her and rose, "I am gonna try to sleep, you think about it, alright, i will send Charlie down to take watch soon, so you can go back to sleep." Sarah took the blanket and wrapped it around the girl and then headed upstairs.
