A Few Days Later.....
The next morning Lane was up bright and early. He couldn't remember the last time he was able to accurately tell what time it was, but judging from how hot it was he was thinking it was around noon. He walked out the front gate carrying a case off bottled water leaving plenty behind for those who decided to stay. He had found this car prior to him finding the park. It was a black pontiac grand prix and it seated four, five it your really squeezed someone in the back seat. Lane was excited and a little nerovus to get out on the open road again. If you would have asked him to leave this place when he first found it Lane would have thought you were crazy to ask, but now with friends to travel on his journey with him it didn't seem so bad. He had spent a lot of time out on the road on his own, never really finding a group that he fit well with. Now days there are some bad people out there, and though in his life before the outbreak Lane had done some pretty terrible things, they were never to purposely hurt anyone. He just used his gift of being born with a silver tounge to cheat people out of their money. But Lane wasn't that guy anymore, he was trying to become a better person, to forge his way ahead in this new world with honest intentions and be a positive presence. And he had made some friends along the way.
Lane put the case of water in the trunk and closed it. It was the last of the supplies they were taking with them. Fritz was going to stay behind with the two teenagers and watch over the park. Over the last few days, the survivors of Busch Gardens had torn down several signs around the park for spare wood and reinforced all the fences around the perimeter. They had gotten the cotton candy maker working and everyone had partaken in that celebration. They had even gotten a few of the rides working. A few rides in the park were designed to look like movie theaters and you said in movie theater chairs and wore 3d glasses, and as the film on the screen starts the seats begin to rise and shake around to make the movements on screen. Lane had never been particularly found of those they made him queasy but the kids seemed to enjoy them, even jonesy seemed to have fun, at least Lane thought he did, it was hard to tell with that kid. Lane expressly stated however to keep the rollercoasters shut down until they got back, he didn't want them drawing to much attention to the place with minimal people at the park to help defend it, Lane hugged Fritz and said good bye to the kids as he made his way out to the parking lot. They were going to head south first, stopping for fuel and supplies as needed. When the outbreak started Lane and his sister were in Georgia, god only knows where she was now, but anywhere between there and here was a possiblity, Charly was looking for her father, Lane knew that much but she didn't talk about it much. She only stared at her locket occasionally. Lane never knew what to say to cheer her up on those occasions, but he hoped the act of actually being proactive and searching for him, with some actual help would cheer her up and lift her spirits in that regard. Brina hadn't said much about her husband either, but they were all going to search for their families together. We they really going to go as far as Georgia? Lane did not know, all he knew was that the people they were looking for were out there, he felt it in his heart. Eager to get started Lane turned towards the entrance. He was standing in front of the driver's side door with the door open. He impatiently watched for Brina and Charly.
"Come on guys let's go. We're heading south, I'm driving first shift."
He said as he saw the girls approaching. Lane smiled as he ducked his head down and got behind the wheel. He started the car and waited for his travelling companions.
