Beau awoke. It had been another night of barely any rest. But at least Randi and him won't fighting. They were on good terms now, especially after last night. Beau swung his legs out of bed, leaving the covers a mess behind him. As he walked into the closet he pulled a shirt off the hook and slipped it on. Adding a pair of jeans, and his socks and boots he made his way downstairs.
Coming down to the kitchen he stopped, seeing Boyd nose deep in a book, sitting at the island. Boyd stopped, taking a moment to look around. "Buck gone yet," he asked, looking for his other little brother. "He run off again?"
"morning to you too," Boyd said, not looking up from the book, "Buck went out this morning, into town. Supplies or something. Smells like rain today, we may want to get some buckets out."
"yeah I'll think of that," Beau said with a nod, "what about Randi is she up? I haven't seen her since last night." He looked around, moving to the cupboard to get a bottle of water. "We should look at taking some of the generators around town, maybe get some life going in this place. Power, tv, coffeemaker. Could be great. You're lucky you got that solar powered thing."
He walked out of the room, bottle in hand. Opening it he took a sip. "Randi you in here," he asked, knocking on the master bedroom. It was his mother's room at one point, but now, Randi had claimed it. Not that the boys argued. They usually bent to her every will.

Randi lay in the king sized bed as the sun stated to push over the horizon, shining brightly as the shadows of the large oak trees shaded the windows. The long, white curtains of lace and linen shaded a little more but she knew soon enough, when the sun broke over the line of trees, the room would be bright...and hot. After Francine died, she claimed the room as her own and the bed was possibly the most comfortable place she had ever slept. Francine had the finest tastes and it showed with the Egyptian cotton sheets that were soft and silky against her skin at night. They felt even better between her and Beau the night before and it was nice to go to sleep happy every once in a while.
She didn't like it when he left her on her own, but she said nothing as he slipped out and went back to his own room for the night. It was for the better between them all anyways. There was obvious tensions in the house that she just let go most of the time even though her and Beau continued to fight. It was usually over stupid shit anyways that she sometimes conjured in her own mind.
Her eyes fluttered open at the sound of a voice outside the door. It was muffled but enough to bring her out of her already awakening state where all she wanted to do was just lay in bed and go back to sleep. Her body wouldn't let that happen though and Beau's voice on the other side was the catalyst to keeping her awake now. Slowly she pushed the covers that were wrapped around her body away as she reached for a clip on the nightstand. As she moved to the double doors, she pulled her hair back and answered, only wearing a half shirt and white cotton pajama bottoms that he would be able to see right through as the sun shone into the room.
She offered a sleepy smile as she opened the door as he took a sip of his water. "Morning. Am I the last one up?"
She left the door open as she went back in the room, giving him that open invitation to come in if he wanted to. Having grown up in this house, he probably spent plenty of time in his mother's room jumping on the bed, playing on the floor and generally doing whatever it was he did as a child.
She came to the door and Beau smiled. Her bottoms immediately caught his attention, the way the light let everything in view. He grinned, thought racing through his mind of the night before. He leaned against the door fram, listened to her speak before nodding. They never really had much planned for the day's events, but he appreciated her company.
"Yeah, last one up. Buck went off into town. Boyd is running security on the cameras," Beau said calmly. "He talked abo rain possibly today, adds to what fell yesterday. Said we should get buckets out. Wasn't a bad idea. I still wanted to run into town today, see what generators we can find. We need power, the one we have wastes to much juice," Beau said calmly, watching her.
"For now I was going to do a permitter sweep was wondering if you wanted to get dressed and join me." He had walked into the room, stood in the middle of the room, watching her move around. He smiled as he did. This room was his mom's at one time. He still remembered some met oilers here. But mostly he remembered it being off limits. It was weird to be back here. Weird to do what he did with Randi in his mother's old bed.
But right now, he didn't care. She was gone, he missed her. But she would have wanted this, Randi in the room, for it not to go to waste. She had her fair share of lovers, his mother, Oil barons, rich folk, and anyone she chose. Randi and him there were no different. He cleared his throat. "Did you want to do anything today? Anything on your agenda. I'll help you before I do anything of mine."
Beau took a seat on the bed, stretching out his legs. "What about breakfast? Want something warm? Or do you want some dry cereal. Think we have some canned fruit left if it peaks your interest." He looked around again, feeling the cotton sheets beneath his hands. He set his eyes in Randi, watching her change and get ready for the day.

Randi went back into the room, opening one of the dresser drawers to pull out a nice, button up cotton shirt before going to the closet and grabbing a pair of soft leggings. She threw them both on the bed as she listening, moving back to the head as she pulled the sheet and down comforter up making the bed that was once his mother's. Just the night before he was here with her making it nice and messy before slipping off into the night.
"Buck went off to town? By himself?" She sighed as she looked up at Beau, fluffing the pillows before stripping off the little night shirt and looking around for her bra. Going down on hands and knees, she found it under the bed and dragged it back out, hooking it over her shoulders to cover back up. As she got up from her hands and knees she had a look on her face that was tinged with disapproval as she reached for the shirt, pulling it over her shoulders and buttoning it up.
"I worry about him."
She pulled the white pajamas down before pulling the leggings back up as she sat at the end of the bed now, listening to his plans to do a perimeter sweep and inviting her along with him after he was giving his concerns about the generator.
"Aren't all those generators the same? I think we can grab a couple more, but we need fuel more. You boys should just go shake up a few places around town. Maybe span out a little further, towards the city. I bet we'd find a ton there."
She was looking around for her shoes that were flung off the night before and found one by the window before the other was found by the nightstand. It was a good night for the both of them.
"Yea, I suppose I can go with you if you want me there." She was adjusting her shoes as he sat on the edge of the bed, wondering if she had anything planned for the day.
"I was going to try and pick some fruits and vegetables today. The lime and avocado trees are growing fruit. I figure I can try and cook something up for you boys for lunch and dinner with what I can find."
She stopped getting dressed and pulled her hair back, leaning into him and giving him a kiss on the cheek before standing back up. "I'll just have a handful of cereal. I'm not really hungry."
She stopped and turned to him, moving between his knees as she placed her hands on his shoulders, as she leaned into him a little bit.
"I think all my appetites are pretty taken care of today." She grinned as she said that, looking down at him. There was still so much she wanted from him and so much he wasn't willing to give her. She hated this on again off again thing they had going but there was no choice now. They were all under the same roof, regardless of the past, present and future.
"He goes off by himself all the time, you know that," Beau said calmly. As she searched for her bra he simply watched her. "I know you worry about him, but there not really anything we can do. He wants to run off, he wants to keep going out there getting supplies he can. I've tried to talk to him, but he's stubborn. You know how he gets." Beau rubbed along his face.
"Yeah all the generators are the same, but the more you nave the more juice you have. We get enough we can run lights, a tv, toaster. Stuff to make it back to the way it was," he said folding his arms and leaned back. "We've been siphoning all the gas we can find. Maybe we start running into New Orleans, bigger trips. There bound to be more gear and more gas there. Poulence is dried up. Has been for a few months. Boyd and I started heading to few of the houses around here, poking around there."
He kept his eyes on her as she searched for her shoes all around the room. He remembered how they got fling all around. "Was just going to be a quick walk along the fence. Figured we could talk and walk while we do the sweep." He shrugged. "You can pick fruit and vegetables after. But I get what you're saying. Could make a nice salsa with those. Maybe a salad." He smirked.
She kissed his cheek and he rubbed along it. She moved between his knees, was close, standing so close. He felt her hands on his shoulders and smile. "Just cereal, that's it? Think that's all everyone else is having anyway. I haven't eaten yet, not really hungry either."
Beau grinned at the second part. "Oh, you're appetite is full. Not even a little hunger left." He spun her around, under him. Propping himself up above her he grinned and looked down at her. "Not even a little bit." He kissed her lips and smiled. "You know why I didn't stay. You know how Buck and Botd get, in here, with you. Buck still sees this as mother's room. Plus he hates the idea of me anywhere around you."
Plus for Beau it was sex, just sex. On again off again right now he was just looking for enjoyment and involvement with her. Wether they were together or not he liked spending time with her, and being with her. All that really mattered right now.

"Yea, I know he goes off on his own, but I can still worry about him. He's a sensitive guy." Sort of, not really. None of the boys were that sensitive but she did see a softer side to Buck compared to Beau and Boyd. Beau was the next one but only because of the passion he showed when he was with her. If they hadn't gotten together like that, it was possible she would never see it.
"Television? You want to run the t.v.? What do you think we're gonna see on there? Reruns?" She laughed and moved her fingers to his head, scratching behind his ears like he was a puppy. "No, we can't get lazy like that. No t.v." She thought about that for a second and rolled her eyes as she looked up to the ceiling. "Are you missing watching porn?" She shook her head and looked back down at him as he spoke about siphoning gas and scrounging whatever they could find. He must have misunderstood her when she spoke about getting gas and how to go about getting it.
"No baby, no more siphoning. Taking. We go to other homes, groups, passersby, whatever we can find and just ..take it. Remember how your momma would have you boys go muscle up to some backwoods hicks that didn't want to give up their property? Like that."
He may or may not agree to it, but it was kind of what they did best. Francine was the brains of the operation and the boys were the muscle. That's just the way she liked it.
When he grabbed her and brought her down to the bed, her long, blonde hair splayed out along the covers as he started to offer up kisses. She would never deny them to him. She knew how she felt about him even if those sentiments weren't returned the way she wanted them to be. Beau ultimately won out over Buck, but he didn't see it that way.
"I'm always hungry for you, you know that. But what did you want to talk about while we walked? You have something on your mind, Beau?" She just laid there with her legs dangling off the bed as he kept himself propped up on top of her. Arms folded back on the bed letting him make any moves he wanted with her.

"Ha, buck sensitive. That's a good one. Think you got my brothers mixed up there. Buck doesn't care, he's lutmtomcause trouble and fuck with people. Sure he gets moody about momma, but we all did. Naw Boyd is the sensitive one. Sitting alone, on his stupid lap top, keeping to himself. Got us confused there," Beau said calmly, "but maybe you're seeing something I'm not seeing. But Buck sensitive, that's funny."
He smirked and kept his hand on her. "I didn't mean watching tv, but you know movies. Not like we get cable anymore. But did palyer, maybe hook the cameras up to it. Just entertainment. Eventually we'll reach as safe as we can get. After looking for food, for fuel I just wanted something to come home to. Right now, you're all that there is. Now you may be better than porn or tv. But eventually you're going to get bored or sore from the entertainment you provide."
He grinned again. "So you want us just to take it? Just take everything. We could do that. But we'd need to find people too. Only people we came across are those bikers. And us three aren't enough muscle to go toe to toe with them. Maybe there some hick still running around, still in their run down shack of a house. Know the LeFluer's stuck around for a bit. Buck and Boyd ran into the boys there, but they turned tail and ran. But I like the sound of that. You find the places, and we'll shake them down for you."
He looked down at her. Slowly his kissed her neck and groped her chest and sides. "Why don't we fill some of that hunger now. A quick bite before we go and walk. I just wanted to talk to you, nothing specific, well maybe one thing, but I'd rather you talk about it out there, not where Boyd can hear. It's about Buck."
His fingers undid the top button, and then the second. "Though truthfully I just wanted the company as I walked along the fence. No shame in that right." He said with a grin as he undid her next button. Leaning back on his legs he smirked, his legs straddled over her. He undid the last button and came forward to kiss her exposed flesh of stomach. His eyes looked up at her. "Maybe we can save this hunger for tonight."

Randi laid underneath Beau as he spoke about Buck not being sensitive. Sure, when they were kids he didn't give a shit, but when their father died, he got closer with Francine and she saw it. Francine spoke about it more when they were older and she was hired to do bookkeeping for the family business. She tried not to ask too many questions, but sometimes she did. Many times, Francine shut her down before she could dig deeper. She saw the way Buck looked at Francine and she saw that mother's love in return.
"He's a tough guy and will always be tough around you and Boyd. But I see it. I see it with you too." He would likely never admit it and that was fine also. She wasn't trying to get too deep with him. She wanted to, but she knew pushing that would possibly push him away. She had done that enough.
She propped herself up on her elbows as her hair fell back, tilting her head as he spoke about setting up cameras to the t.v. but what intrigued her more was the fact she was the thing he wanted to come to...right now. She heard him wrong and she knew it, but it struck her. What if something better came along? She would be yesterday's entertainment and she was his porn. "Entertainment I provide? I'll get bored with it? Are you sure it's not the other way around? You won't get bored with me?" The way he worded it she felt like he wanted to put that blame on her, like he wanted her to get bored. She did that. She read him wrong and that's what lead to too many fights. They were both pretty strong willed but it was hard to avoid each other and the makeup sex was pretty fantastic.
"I'll find people, I'll find the places. I just need to get out a little more, that's all. I feel like some days all I do is just walk around the property and daydream. I need other things to think about. We can take what we need. Haven't we done that before?" Of course, she wouldn't tell him what she was daydreaming about and if he asked she would make it so vague that it wouldn't really matter anways. "Maybe I'll go off and try and find them again. I remember Odette, their sister. If I can find her, I'm sure I'll find them too."
Beau had something else in mind first before they walked and talked. His lips kissed down her neck, down her chest. He unbuttoned the shirt she had only just put on moments ago. She moaned quietly as she felt him on top of her, He was riling her up with each touch as he pulled the shirt open to expose the little lace bra. "You are insatiable sometimes, Beau." As he sat up she looked at him as his hands gripped her hips asking for her company as he walked the fence. She wouldn't mind doing that, but she didn't want to neglect picking the food they needed to eat tonight. "Of course I'll walk with you but I need to get to the limes and avocados before the wild animals do. Of course, if we see one of those animals we can have meat for dinner too." She laughed as she said that, sitting up a bit more and gathering her shirt.
He wanted to talk to her about Buck though and she wondered what his concern was. As far as she knew, everything was fine between them all, at least, for now. She always had eyes for Buck though. He knew it. She taunted him with it. She used Buck before just as Beau was using her right now although she hoped there was an end to those means. She felt more for Beau. She connected with him. She gave herself to him and right now, was devoted only to him. She was never one to put all her eggs in one basket though and that was a sore spot between them both.
"Dinner with Boyd and Buck and dessert in here with me? Maybe I can convince you to actually stay the night this time."
"Oh you see it with me. Saying I'm soft now, are you Randi," Beau asked with a grin, "what's so soft about me. Sure wasn't soft last night. Or the night before that. Or the afternoon in the garden." He kissed her neck again. "Definetly not soft now either." He moved back. "Maybe I just don't want to believe any of the crowes are soft and sensual. We're tough and take what we want. I know that rack of yours will allays keep us hard."
She went off about her being entertainment and he just shook his head. "Are you kidding, get bored with you. You're more than just entertainment. You keep us going, keep me going. There no way I'm ever getting bored with you. A body like this, and mind to smtch. You're what momma called the perfect package. Why do you think she hired you. Looks, brains, and the charisma. Wouldn't be surprised if she wanted you to marry one of us." He kissed her neck again. "Plus again, that rack."
He moved back and looked into her eyes as she spoke. "Sure you can go out. But I don't think it's good to go alone. Take me or Boyd with you. Just safer. Out there, not like before. You know that. I ain't worried about the people, not with you. But the desd, they may be a problem. They overwhelm you, you aren't like the boys and I. Not that you're soft, but you, you aren't as strong. I just don't want you hurt. At least take Boyd, he's as strong as you are."
Beau looked at her slowly he rolled off with a laugh, leaving her shirt open. "We should go now then. Move out toward the gate and pick those fruit. That work for you." He sat up and moved off the bed. "Then maybe we can roll around a little. If you're interested. Or we can head into town, find those people. Maybe Boyd can do some techy thing with Satellites. See if he can pinpoint people around here. He has the laptop for more than music and video game you know. He's smart. Forged documents for us more than once." Beau smirked.
"But I'm fine waiting for desert too. If you want me to stay the night, it has to be worth it. And you deal with Buck when he throws a fit." He moved toward the door. "Come on, can't let the animals win. We'll do the fence, then pick the goods."
He grabbed his bottle and moved out into the hall. Passing Boyd he smiled. "Gonna do a fence walk with Randi. Then pick some stuff for supper. Where's the guns." Beau moved around, heading to the armoury they made out of the smoking room. He grabbed the rifle and a few extra shells. He slung the rifle over by the strap and made his way out of the room.
It was cloudy out today, having Rained all day yesterday. But Beau didn't care. Meant it wasn't hot out, not yet. Sunrise had some sun, but clouds quickly swallowed it up. As he walked out the main doors he waited for Randi to walked beside him. "Does look like rain again today. Maybe we won't be anywhere."

Randi laughed as he spoke about being hard. She knew what he meant, but the play on words was easy to work with. "Not talking about your prick, Beau. I know that's hard, a lot." She also knew Buck got hard sometimes although she wasn't sure what he was thinking about. She had caught him, only a few times, standing at the door when it was dark and she was laying in the bed just staring up at the canopy. He thought she was sleeping, but in the moonlight she could see him. He just stood in the doorway and she could see his hand moving. She would just pretend to be sleeping, roll over and he would move on. There were times where she missed him, but he would never come in..not while she was in the room. Maybe that's what Beau wanted to talk to her about.
His lips touched against her neck again as he spoke about her, but mostly her tits. He seemed to be quite fond of them. She never saw herself as the perfect girl or the prettiest girl but by the way he was talking, it seemed like she really was in the Bayou. It would explain a few rivalries, especially with the St. Mordeaux girl. Ellie always seemed especially jealous of the Crowe boys paying more attention to her. She didn't care. To her, Ellie was too much of a backwoods hick whereas she found herself to be an educated southern belle.
"Your mom told me she liked having me around to help with you boys, you know." Her hands reached out to him, massaging against his shoulders as he spoke about her marrying one of them. "You know which one of you I'd marry. But that one has yet to make a commitment to me." She smiled tersely as she said that and as he backed up off of her, she sat up and started to button the shirt up again.
"I may not be strong, but I'm smart. You know I have a way with words, Beau. A little southern charm goes a long way you know. And if that doesn't work, then a little muscle is required." As she said that, she leaned in, kissing against his bicep with a wink.
He got up off the bed so they could head out on the property but still hinting they should fool around while out and about. She knew he was half joking, but she also knew if she decided to go down on him in the groves, he would not protest in the least. "You're always so hungry. I hate to imagine you starving to death." She wrapped a hand around part of his ass, squeezing gently before finishing buttoning up her shirt. She saw Boyd moving down the hallway with the computer in his hands, shaking her head.
"He needs to get out more too. Maybe there's some working gps somewhere he can find. I don't know though."
She followed Beau down the hall, giving Boyd a little shy smile before heading towards the kitchen to grab a basket so she can collect fruit while he went and gathered a gun or two. When she joined him and looked up at the sky he spoke about the rain and she smiled. "Well, then I guess we'll get a free shower if it rains."
She just hoped it would be warm rain. She hated cold showers, cold rain, cold anything. They had heat from the generators, but they had to be stingy with their showering. She missed the day of taking a long, hot shower or soaking in a steamy bath.
"when are you not talking about my prick," Beau said with a laugh, "I haven't heard you complain when it's hard, so must not be that bad. Don't think it's ever been soft for you." He grinned and watched her. "But I get what you're saying, I just don't like to believe it. Crowes aren't soft. We never have been. There secrets you don't even know."
He listened to her speak about his mom, and the one she'd marry not making commitment. "I'm sure she did. You kept us in line as much as she did. More than once she called you her protégé or how she was your mentor. Guess she wanted you to,be better, designed a certain way, like her. Live the lavish lifestyle and take care of us boys. Maybe she was hurt when Sally left, thought of a replacement."
He grinned and kept moving. "But you wanted to marry one of us eh? Maybe he'll commit in time. Have to work for it, can't just let it happen. Plus, all that doesn't mean shit now, getting married that is. Don't need no ring or no paper to call someone your own anymore. Look at the world, marriage, all that crap. Doesn't matter. Keeping alive does. Maybe it will get back to normal, maybe not."
Beau watched her get her shirt on. "I know you're smart, that's always been a given. You outsmart any of us boys any given day. Your way with words are almost as bad as momma's. Just need to be more intimidating, give that fear. That's what she did. Woke town feared us, feared her. The mayor, she had so much dirt on him he caved everytime she smiled. Thing aren't the same anymore. Can't have the sheriffs under your thumb, or the mayor in your back pocket. We'll have to resort to some early tactics. Burning stuff done, breaking bones. Been a while since we got that violent though."
He felt her cup his his ass and grinned. "Easy now, gonna ruin your desert. I doubt I'd starve to death. I'm sure there's food elsewhere. But it wouldn't compare to what I already have here. This is top of the line meal here. Why pass it up. Eat as much as I can, while I can." He moved out of the room, smiling at her.
"I agree, he needs to get out. Maybe you and him should head in to town. You're close to buck and I, but not as close to Boyd. Maybe it was him going off when you started working here, shacking up in the big city. But you don't connect to him like you do Me and Buck. I thinkmitmwouldmbe good for both of you," Beau said as they walked. "Don't know what he would do with the GPS, but he got cameras running, says he wants to get into the ones around town if he can. Have eyes everywhere. Take what we want, when we want."
Beau held the rifle and smiled at her basket. "Free shower, but a cold one. I'll stick to the one inside. Heat it the best we can. May have to get down to sharing. Save water, fuel. Until we find people that is." At this point he was set on what she said about taking what they wanted. It's how they were before, why change. He liked he idea.
"Worse comes to worse we could hear an old bathtub the old fashioned way. Use a fire under it, let the water heat up. Could set one up in the yard." He smirked. "Alright, let's to a quick walk around of the permitter. Shouldn't take to long." He started walking, heading to the fence line to start the sweep of the outside.
They wouldn't be able to see much, but they'd hear the rotters if there were any. "So about Buck," Beau said now that they were out of earshot. He looked up at the camera, knowing Boyd couldn't hear them if he was watching. "He confronted me last night. Threatened me. Said if I stayed in the room with you, he'd gut me in my sleep. He was serious, wasn't playing around. I don't know if it was with you, or with the bed. But he was serious about it. I saw it in his eyes, he would do it without thinking. Why I didn't stay. I got back at him, and we got in a tussle, ended up givbeing no him a black eye before he crawled away. Why I didn't stay the night. Maybe though, you come sleep with me, in my bed. He was atiment about the room, me with you in the room, mom's room. I don't know though."

Randi let Beau go on and on while they were in the room, speaking about her enjoying him being 'hard' but moreso about his thoughts on marriage. She didn't believe in the same things he did and she still had faith in the institution of marriage and being committed. She knew Francine loved her husband, but after he died she was more determined than ever to get what she wanted and she wasn't going to let anyone stop her. She had most of the town politicians in her pocket, just like Beau said, but she also knew Francine was considering more, including running for office and expanding the empire north towards Baton Rouge. She never said anything to the boys as interferring with family business was pretty much strictly forbidden, even though Francine encouraged her to be a part of the family. There were private conversations she had with the matriarch about seducing her sons, mostly Beau. With Buck it was odd. She was protective of him, overly so she thought.
When they got outside though, she unleashed a little. "What do you mean there's food elsewhere? You have everything you need here..." He cut her off as he told her that she was top of the line, but still, it cut like a knife. What if a better meal came? She may be steak, but even cuts of steak progressively got better. Maybe he was just waiting for a succulent lobster to come around. That stuck like a splinter in her paw. "I still believe in marriage, Beau. Even if you don't and you're happy with just coming into my room and fucking me every day." She left it at that. Her last words were spoken with a bit of a sting in them, hoping he would feel what she was feeling in return.
Good thing he changed the subject to Boyd.
"I don't think Boyd likes me too much. I mean, he's nice and all but he barely says two words to me. Maybe he thinks I'm just using you and Boyd, I don't know. Maybe I'll take him down to find Odette and see if we can get her and her brothers on board for what we need and want. I can't force him to do anything, you know that."
They started out along the fence line and he was talking about building some contraption for a shower outside. Of course, she couldn't help but prod him a little as he spoke about sharing showers until they could figure that out. "Yea, alright. Me, you and Buck can all take nice, hot showers together. We'll figure something out to use. If you know how to build one outside, go for it. I'm not sure I'd want to use that in the middle of January though. You know me and cold. I'd rather just hibernate for three months."
As they walked along the fence, she was looking ahead to the trees while he was inspecting the fence. She carried the light basket as it bumped against her hip and the sun shone down through her hair. It was warm and refreshing as the morning broke through. She could feel the moisture of dew soaking into her shoes as they walked in the overgrown grass and he finally brought the subject of Buck up. She was surprised what she heard. Buck and Beau got physical about him sleeping with her in the master bedroom and to her, that just seemed ridiculous but not for any reason either of them could understand.
"That's ridiculous Beau. Why would he be so upset? I mean..I know he slept with your momma in there occassionally but we can't waste the room. What, does he want us to abandon the room, shut the door and let the ghost of your mother haunt it?" She shook her head as the walked slowly, looking back over her shoulder to catch a glimpse of Boyd looking out the window. "So, it's okay if I come and sleep in your room, but it's not okay if you come and sleep in mine? I don't understand. Does he just not want us to be together? I don't see him stepping up and making any commitment to me. At least you're not afraid to come into the room." She was getting a bit more worked up now as she thought about it. "Unlike him, who just stands at the door and jerks off watching me sleep." She clenched her jaw as she said that, looking off back towards the trees with a dogged determination to get to the bottom of it.
"I'll talk to him. Figure out what his problem is." She wouldn't do any of this in front of Boyd though. The last thing she needed was him running off because of confrontation or jealousy.
Her words were sharp, meant to harm. She believed in marriage still. Maybe Beau just didn't want to settle down. Not yet. He was still young, still had a full life. But it had crossed his mind once or twice. His own family, own line of Crowes. It was an idea, but one far, far away. For now he was content in just living the way he was. No need to change for anyone. But as he looked at her, Beau couldn't help but feel she wanted more.
As the conversation shifted to Boyd, he listened, nodding along. "I think that's a good idea. Boyd is just shy. He hides behind a screen, and likes it that way. He wasn't an enforcer like Buck and I were. He was the brains momma had said once, smartest out of all us boys. Insulation as it was, it was true. Boyd was smart. He thought like Momma. Maybe not as harsh or sinister, but he had ideas like her." Beau paused. "You should go with him. It would be good. He's like a puppy. Just drag him along and clean up his messes."
They walked along the fence and she spoke about the showers. "That might be to much Crowe for you. Both me and Buck and once, I doubt you could handle all that." He grinned to show he was teasing. "Maybe we can get hot water running here. The boiler is fire based. Old style, original concept. All it takes is some firewood. May end up building both. Know you like to soak. Figured outside, nice cool air at night. Could almost be romantic if I joined you."
Beau walked along the fence an struggled along the overgrown grass. Sadly he didn't know if it had just gotten this bad, or was like it before. They didn't have gardeners or maids. The boys did yard work, momma cleaned or got them to do it. They weren't spoiled. They did their own dirty work. Something there mom always raised them on, don't get sloppy, don't get soft, and don't count on no one.
"I know it's ridiculous," Beau said calmly as she spoke about Buck. "But that's what happened. He got defensive over. Me and you together on the room. I don't think he minds you in there, it's just me and you in their together. Maybe he's jealous. I don't questions what buck thinks about to much. He's messed up in the head. He may not want us to be together, or he may just be throwing s fit."
Beau shook his head. "If you can talk to him, that would be great. He may not commit but I will, all that matters." Beau kept walking along the fence, so far no growlers. All they could do right now. "He just stands there jacking off at you? Doesn't that, creep you out. Think he thinks about you? Maybe I should talk to him. Tell him he's barking up the wrong tree."
He looked away. "Perimeter seems clear, why don't we go pick that fruit now."

Randi continued to walk with Beau as he spoke about Boyd and that she would need to keep him close. That much she already knew but she really wasn't sure if Boyd would warm to her or not, but she could certainly try. It worked with Buck and Beau, surely it could work with Boyd also. She had faith that he would eventually come around but she just needed to get him alone. He was shielded by his brothers, probably a little too much.
"Yea, I'll do my best, but let's just hope he's smart enough not to leave any messes. I'm not one who prefers to get their hands dirty." She smiled tersely as she said that looking down at her newly dampened shoes as she heard the growling just outside the wall. "But he's the smart one so I'm sure he'll do just fine out there."
As he moved on talking about the tub outside and how he could construct it, she just shook her head and chuckled about her taking a hot bath out there. Yes, it would be nice, but so much work to get water and get it heated. "That sounds like a lot of work to take a bubble bath. And since when did you start thinking about romance? Next thing I know you'll be bringing me flowers and chocolates."
As they got closer to the trees she could see several limes hanging off the branches and he broached the subject of Buck again. Maybe it was jealousy. That's the only thing she could fathom. Why would he fight his own brother for wanting to sleep with her in his mother's room? It seemed crazy to her. "You'll commit? To me? Doubtful, Beau. You know what I've wanted for a long time and then you say that? As far as Buck at night, well, I just let him do what he wants. I pretend to be asleep and he never does anything beyond that. I figure it's harmless. At least he's quiet."
She knew she would regret saying that about Buck as soon as it came out of her mouth and she hurried along to the tree. She didn't want the brothers to fight. They needed to stick together if they were going to survive and jealousy over her was only going to make things worse. "Just, don't fight with him Beau. We need to make things right and I'll talk to him, okay? The last thing we need is you both trying to kill each other over where you sleep with me. Maybe I can get to the bottom of it all."

"You've always been cleaning up after us. Isn't that why momma hired you," Beau asked with a smirk as he kept walking. "Boyd will be fine. But if you feel you want to talk to him, then go for it. I'm sure he'd love to go. Boyd needs to get out more, you two should for sure do some runs into town. He a,y said some light on the subject of us Crowe boys."
He smirked as he they got closer to the trees. "Since when is lighting candles when you have no power romantic? I've seen a few movies in my time, I know what romance is. Can imitate the hell out of those gushy chick flicks. Not saying I'm gonna, but I can. I know what women like, and I know what gets them going. Maki a bubble bath, not that much work, but worth it. Though a cold shower is easier."
As they picked the likes he handed some to her to put in her basket, the ones just out of reach. "Do I k ow what you want? I mean you joke and tease, but do I really know what you want with me? Right now I'm content on what we have now, entertainment after a long day. You want me to stay and hold you, maybe I will one day."
He didn't reply to what she said about Buck, but it got him going, the blood boiling. What if he did something more? What if Buck got intimate with her. He knew he had before, the brother didn't talk to eachother for months then. Buck knew he liked her, knew to stay away. By sometimes the brothers didn't listen to each other. Buck standing there, stroking himself, it was off putting. He should be lucky he wasn't the one to catch him.
"He's the one who threatened me. Brother or not, I'm not taking threats. Talk to him. I don't want this getting out of hand. I'll sleep with you, but not if I have to worry about getting my throat slit by my own brother while I do it. We don't need to be fighting, not now."

"Okay then, I'll grab Boyd when we get back to the house and we'll go check a few places out. We'll be back to make dinner with whatever we can pick here. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a big bag of Tostitos while we're out."
She took the limes from him as he picked them off the tree, stopping him when he reached for a couple that weren't ready yet. "I'll make some salsa. Add a little cayenne pepper from the pantry. Maybe I'll find some margarita mix too. You can make us some drinks."
He started talking about romance and how he could imitate it, but would he really mean it with her? She didn't know but maybe one day he would really feel it. She knew that he liked her and she knew he liked being with her but still, their relationship didn't go beyond sex. It was starting to bother her although she tried not to show it.
"Come on Beau, you know what I want with you. You know what I've wanted for a while, but if that means you and Buck are going to be at odds, I'll wait. I've waited this long." She moved to the other side of the tree, pulling at a few limes and plucking them off as the leaves shook.
"What happened between me and Buck may have been a mistake. I don't know." She knew Beau and Buck were vastly different men when it came to relations. Things changed when his father died and Buck pulled away. Buck pulled away from all of them except their mom and he did everything she told him to do. But she didn't know if Beau was taking advantage of her either. Her mind moved to the thought that if something better came along, he would take advantage of that and leave her in the dust. That thought didn't settle well with her and she moved from the lime tree over to one of the avocado trees.
"I'll talk to him. I'll talk to him and I guess you can keep sleeping in your own room and I'll sleep in mine. Ain't no need to keep poking that hornet's nest with him. He's your brother and I know better then to make you choose between us."
Now she needed to start formulating a plan so she could get what she wanted..from the both of them.
"We got the rest to mix with the mix? I don't remember any Tequilla left," Beau said as he stopped from grabbing the unripe lime. "But some salsa would nice, some chips and dip. Haven't had that in a while. To bad we don't have burger or steak to go with it. I miss beef, pork, chicken. I need meat in my diet. Berries and nuts ain't gonna cut it. Fish is the closest we've come to actuall food."
He smiled, "No, I don't know what you want. Because you won't say it. For all I know, you are happy with what we have now. I can't read minds Randi. Im getting as close to you as I can get. I don't want buck and I to be at odds, but that's the way it is. For now, I liked what we have. I care about you, we all do. That's all that should matter."
He looked at her. "May have been? For wanting to get closer you sure jumped at the chance to fuck him. I know we were fighting at the time, but it wasn't an excuse. I don't want to talk about it though, so let's move on. The thought of you and him together pisses me off. "You better talk to him. Something like this, it might tear us apart. I don't want that. All four of us, we are supposed to be close."
Beau nodded. After picking some avocados it was nice to have some food. Growing on the property. Grapes would come in the summer. That meant wine. If they knew how to make it. Other crops would pop up after that. It was all they had now, picked what grew. It kept them fed and full. He couldn't complain. But ultimately catching some pigs would be ideal if they ever left the state.
"We need more resources. We can't keep living off what we have. Fish and gator is good, but I want normalcy again. Maybe two of us should head to NOLA, gather up as much supplies as we can, ones that we can't get in town here."

Randi plucked a few more avocados off the tree, not wanting to waste a single one. She knew how fast they would go bad and she remembered the boys complaining about eating them for days on end and getting completely sick of them.
"We have to eat this for the protein. We don't have beef and chicken so this is what we get. I know you all will get sick of it, but until we turn into a family of cattle ranchers, this will have to do."
She wasn't annoyed as she said that but it was the truth. She would do what she could to keep it interesting, but admittedly, by the end of the season, even she was sick of avocado. She missed the days when tossing out old fruit meant nothing. Now, it was everything.
When he spoke about not knowing what she wanted, she stopped and looked at him. "I want you, Beau. All to myself. I want a commitment. I want more then just a nightly fuck." She shook her head and turned back to the avocados plucking a few more down. The basket was getting heavy and her arm would start getting sore. He brought up her and Buck and she knew it wasn't over. It would never be over. It was a knife they both kept stabbing each other with and Buck was that sharp edge. She stopped and sighed, pushing her long hair out of her eyes as she looked down to the ground. "Yea, I did it. I admit I did it." She set the basket down by the tree and turned back to Beau. Her hands came to his face, gently scraping her nails down the length of his jaw as she looked into his eyes.
"I care about you all. I love you all and I want us to be a family. If we can't be a family then we can't survive here."
She paused for a second before bringing her lips softly against his in a quick kiss. "I want you in my bed, Beau. Not Buck, not Boyd. You."
That would tell him exactly what she wanted and if he forgot that, then it was on him. What they had was good, she knew that. What they had was real and what they had was between them. She didn't want any outsiders coming in and disrupting this unit. She didn't want anyone barging in and changing the dynamic of this family. She didn't want anyone coming in and stealing Beau away mostly.
"There's Mossy Ridge Farm in Houma. Chicken farm, remember that place? I remember Francine pressing them to sell and they were pretty much ready to sign the papers when all this shit went down. Go over there and rough them up a bit. Take a few and bring them back. If anything we'd at least have eggs."
"Yeah I know you're right. But just need to shake it up a little. By the end of them growing, I never want to eat avocado again. Who can blame me? I mean months of nothing but that dam green, fruit, vegitable, whatever it is. Wish we had planted some other crops before all this started. Least we got fish, and gator. Think there's still some from last night. Some fish would go great with the salsa. Maybe when you and Boyd run in to town, I'll see if I can catch us some," Beau said as he plucked the last of the ripe avocados. "If you're cutting these up for salsa, use some of those onions we found, the garlic. Make some guac."
He grinned and she spoke about commitment it faded. With a sigh he watched her. "You get me all to yourself. I'm not gonna run off and fuck someone else. Not like there is anyone. I get you. You get me. So what if I don't sleep with you. I'm still loyal, still faithful. Isn't that enough? You want me to get down on my knees, make it official? I like what we have, why stress it with labels."
He felt her run along his face with her nails. "I know, I know. We are a family. That isn't going to change. We're a family through and through. We'll survive as one, we a,ways have." He felt her kiss agaisnt his lips and grinned. "Good, and tonight you'll get it. Just me, and you, in bed. I'll see if I can stay the night. But you need to talk to Buck first."
As she spoke about the chicken farm Beau nodded, feeling her pull away. "Tomorrow we'll go and see what's there. I'll take Buck or Boyd, and head over there. We don't even know if they are still alive. Three years, may be dead. But if they see, we'll take what we want. Grab some chickens or some eggs and head back. If we roughed them up before, it shouldn't be a problem."

Randi watched as the last one was put in the basket and she knSpeaew it was going to be heavy carrying it back to the house. She could probably use the exercise though and as Beau mentioned making guacamole, she smiled.
"Whatever you boys want, I'll make. You know what I want to do? Learn how to make bread. Get a big, iron pan, spread it out, make some flatbread."
Speaking of food was making her stomach rumble and she was starting to feel herself getting hungrier then she anticipated that she would. She missed the days of drive throughs and grocery stores where you could just run out and pick up a quick meal. Things weren't easy anymore. There were a lot of things she missed.
When he went back to their relationship though, she wasn't sure what to think. Was he really committed to her? He made it seem like he was, but she knew there was more. There had to be. They were together, but not really together...at least, that's how she felt.
"Maybe I do want you to propose to me. Ring and all. It sends a message. I know you ain't sniffing around, at least, not yet. But if people come here, if we bring in people who we can trust, at least, with our lives, then I want them to know you and me are taken."
And that's all there was to that. He could think about that but until they were sharing a bed at night, she still felt like he was using her for a good lay every night. It still put her off. She knew she screwed up in the past and maybe this was his way of punishing her for it. Although neither of them had declared their love for one another, it was there, at least on a familial level. They had each other. They all did.
She turned back and picked up the heavy basket with a bit of a grunt and held it against her hip as it bumped out with each step she took.
"Let's head back. I could use some of that cereal now. Maybe we could find a cow somewhere. Bring it back, have some fresh milk. Chicken for eggs. Maybe even some goats for milk. I could try to learn to make cheese, although don't expect much with that."
