Mitch was so relieved when Hideki said he was ok, now that Mitch shot them. He felt like he was finally able to help his own guardian angel. He then heard how Hideki asked about his back. “Don’t worry about me for a moment, we need to worry about you, I can't lose you Hideki.” Mitch spoke as he looked into his eyes. Hideki would see how Mitch his eyes were filled with fear, but also happiness that he was able to help him, all his feelings were mixed.
Mitch then shook his head as Hideki told him he needed to stay and that if the place got overrun he would have to leave Hideki and go up to the apartment. “I won’t do any of those things.” Mitch said. But before he could do anything, Hideki rushed forward. “Hideki!” Mitch yelled but in a whispering tone.
He tried to follow but even hurt Hideki was fast, just as he was closing in Mitch tripped and his face hit the floor. Panic rushed through his body as he was worried his wound would have cracked open again. He crawled back up and sighed in relief as he didn’t feel any pain, which mean his back was fine. He hit the floor with his arms, so other than a couple scrape wounds, he was fine.
He shook his head and his eyes started searching for Hideki. He was at the gate and was able to close the gate off, keeping the walkers out, which was good. But seeing that Hideki used all of his strength and was now on the floor, made Mitch worried yet again, even panicking a bit. He tried to get to him as soon as he could, though running fast wasn’t an option, seeing how it was dangerous for his back.
As he got closer, he saw how Hideki had been able to crawl to the bandit he shot, to make sure he wasn’t coming back. Then as Hideki called out his name, he finally was by his side. “I’m here, I’m here.” He said with a face filled with sadness and panic. He was so afraid of losing him, that he would even cry, but he also knew he had to stay strong for him.
Mitch grabbed him from the floor and helped him to get up, he supported him as best as they could. As the limped across the parking, Mitch realized how strong they were together. “We might be broken when we are by ourselves, but together, no one will stop us, right?” he asked. He tried talking to make sure, Hideki stayed with him, cause whether he liked it or not, he was how his companion slipped in and out of unconsciousness. “Come on Hideki, stay with me please.” Mitch begged as a tear ran down his cheek.
Not moments later Hideki and Mitch reached the top of the stairs. “We are almost there Hideki.” Mitch spoke. But then he felt how his angel slipped and hit the ground, dragging Mitch with him. “Hideki!” Mitch yelled as he removed his face from Hideki his chest. When falling Hideki was the first one to fall, causing Mitch to land with his cheek on Mitch his chest, it wasn’t a high fall, so besides Hideki being passed out, there was no damage. But when Mitch hit the floor, his panic took over and it felt like Hideki was going to die. Mitch pushed himself from the ground, kneeling next to Hideki, gently rubbing his cheek. “Please wake up.” He said as tears streamed down his face.
He stayed in this position a couple seconds, before realizing he had to take care of him. “Come on Mitch pull yourself together.” He said to himself as he tried his best to get his shit together. He used two fingers to feel if he could still feel Hideki his heart, it was faint, but it was still there. “Need to stop the blood loss.” He said again to himself. Talking helped, it made him focus, it made him calm. Mitch looked around, but couldn’t find a thing, then it hit him and he started pulling his sleeve. The fabric was old and had been through a lot, so it ripped easily. Mitch got up rushed to the apartment and grabbed some of that disinfectant wound spray they had been using on him and a bottle of water. He then got back and cleaned the wound with the water, he took off his shirt and dept the wound, then he used the spray and finally he used the ripped sleeve to wrap around the wound so that the blood would be stopped.
Mitch knew he couldn’t leave Hideki on the floor like this, he knew he had to get him inside on the mattresses. So he grabbed him under his arms and started dragging him, he nearly reached the mattresses, when a horrible pain flashed through his body. He screamed as his eyes got watery. Mitch tried his best not to panic, but he was almost certain that a small crust from his wound ripped open. There was no way to find out, since there were no mirrors and Mitch wasn’t able to look over his back to see the damage. “Come on Mitch stay strong.” He said as tears ran down his cheeks. He carefully used his last strength to pull Hideki on the mattress. Then he fell on his knees next to him on the other mattress.
He stayed like that for some seconds trying to calm himself, trying to push the pain down. Finally he opened his eyes, took a couple breaths and tried to stay calm. He carefully laid down on his side, with his eyes facing Hideki, he placed his hand in Hideki’s and closed his eyes. He wasn’t asleep, he wouldn’t sleep until Hideki had woken up. But he was resting, it was the only thing he could do now.
The wise thing would be to take a painkiller, but Hideki was in charge of supplies, so he had no idea if they would have enough, besides Hideki would need a few too once he would be awake. So Mitch stayed on his side, his eyes closed, with his hand resting in Hideki’s.
