Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
-Adrian worked as a 911 operator. She went through all the proper courses and training and loved her job. That was good and a problem. She worked, all the time. She had little social life , except for a good core group of friends and her parents. She felt responsible for those she talked to. It was her job to help them, to get help to them.
She'd grown up normal, with good parents. She was an only child, but her choice of career put her parents want of grandchildren to the back burner. Not that Adrian didn't date, but she just never settled down for long enough to have the marriage talk with a guy. She sorta used men as a distraction from her job. They took her out, spent time together, but it never was allowed to get overly emotional. At least not on her end.
Adrian was sent on leave, right before the outbreak. She had a melt down at work. She got too emotional about a call. Some father had gotten drunk and shot his wife. The poor kid called it in, and was on the phone with Adrian when the father shot him and then himself. It was too much. After five years, she had reached a tipping point and the poor little boy was the drop that sent her reeling over the edge. Her boss had taken her off duty, told her to get therapy and when the doc released her, she could come back. Adrian had spent days hold up in her house, before even telling anyone what happened. Neal was a good friend from work, and he came by to check on her.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-Adrian was home and got a call from her boss, telling her they needed her and to come in to work. She wasn't sure what was happening, but she got dressed and went in. She figured maybe she was needed to help train people , if they were short staffed, that could be the case.
She was not prepared for what she walked in to. Every line was ringing , there were people on phones all over the floor. She stared and saw her boss and headed over. She had no idea what was going on. The phones had never been flooded with so many calls at one time. The sounds of screaming were being heard from alot of head sets. What was happening, it sounded like the end of the world. They were dispatching police, ambulances and fire departments all over the city.
Hours passed as they worked to help people. It all seemed in vane. As soon as they ended a call, another and they couldn't keep up. The police finally started to send people home in shifts, for their own well being. She went home with Neal, and the streets were crazy. It looked like full scale riots.
Neal wanted to swing by his house and grab some clothes before they went to her place. That was their first mistake. It showed them the full horror of what was happening when they found his boyfriend dead on his front steps. He looked like someone had eaten part of his arm, then bashed his brains in. What they didn't know til later , was why.
Adrian and Neal held up at his house for days until it was safe, relatively speaking, and they headed for her parents house outside the city.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
-They have managed to stay together , moving from place to place in her father's old pick up truck. Adrian lost her parents a year ago, and the pair left the house, though, they stay together. The pair went through Vegas, and barely managed to survive after they were targeted by a rogue group. It was here that Adrian came to learn another side to her best friend. She ended up saving Neal from a dancer who was hell bent on ending his life, by selling him to a group that used the survivors they found as slaves, or worse.
Adrian now struggles with her feelings about Neal. Neal keeps them moving , not trusting it to stick with anyone for too long, after what happened.
