The serenade of frogs, crickets and cicadas were starting to blast the swamp as the murky waters rose from storms off shore. The low rumble of thunder bristled across the Bayou sky and the occasional lightning strike and clap of thunder that came with it drew the swamp walkers out of their bloated, humid slumber and towards the water. Some went in and disappeared into the murk. Some were gobbled up by alligators off the shore, while others just remained stuck in the greenish muck, embedded into the bald cypress roots that were slowly devouring them as the trees grew stronger.
Back at the St. Mordeaux house, Amarie and Brendan had finished putting up what they could of the metal Xs that lined the exterior of the fence line into the forest with Baron's help.
Ellie and Tobias were at the house talking the day away while putting supplies away and Sky was waiting for Charles to return with baby Walker being well cared for. Daisy and Damon had yet to return and the group that went for weapons would soon be returning.
For the first time in a very long time, it was an uneventful day.
Post by Branden "Ironman" Phelps on May 11, 2016 11:58:08 GMT -5
It had gotten late and Branden was done helping Amarie for the day, the two had put up a whole bunch of defensive structures around the fence, which would help them keep intruders at bay. Hopefully it would make those inside the property feel a whole a lot safer from now on, and maybe it would give Jace`s group some credibility that they were good people and could be a commendable ally in the future. "Well, looks like we`re done here." He said to Amarie with a big satisfied smile, taking off the worker gloves, placing them back in the truck. Once that was done, he turned to her and continued. "Better get some rest while we can, the others might be back soon."
Walking over to the fire pit covered in sweat and dirt, Branden took a well deserved break, sitting on one of the logs close to Skylar. Together they chatted for a bit, talking about this and that, and when Amarie wasn`t around, the subject about what had happened earlier was brought up. She laughed hearing about how he had felt the moment Amarie took out the frustration on him, to which he didn`t really know what to think. The female mechanic was surely something to look at, but apparently she had her issues. He didn`t know whether she was unstable or not, though whatever it was, he had had been determined to complete the work nonetheless.
"C'mon, we should get back to the house, the girls are probably waiting on us, been there all day with little to do I suppose." He said, tapping Skylar on the thigh before standing up, motioning for her to follow him. She agreed and followed, cradling the baby in her arms as they walked through the dense wood. Whenever a straggler came about, Branden took care of it and when they were halfway, they could both hear the sound of engines roaring in the distance. It had to be Jace, there was no doubt in his mind. "They`re here." He stated, glancing back at Skylar before speeding up the pace, making sure she got out of the woods safely with him.

"I got a dolly bac' at the junkyard," Tobias began to explain as he helped the beautiful Ellie put away everything from inside the boxes, "I'll bring it nex' time to get this nasty fridge outta 'ere."
Ellie was funny with her explanation of how her and the family got here and he chuckled, "Aye, I got tha' much lass. I done a lot'o fuckin' in my day, mond you and a daughter too. But ye got two ugly arse brothers and then you, a beautiful woman beyond her years!"
It really was a mystery to him, two rough as hell looking brothers and a Angel for a daughter.
Post by Ellie St. Mordeaux on May 11, 2016 17:08:41 GMT -5
"Thanks, your majesty." She bowed to him with an exaggerated curtsey as she said that, laughing as he offered to pull that nasty fridge right out of the kitchen. They could use the space for something else. Maybe a place to clean fish or make bread or something like that.
Tobias made her laugh and she liked that. It wasn't very often when people got to laugh these days and she was pretty sure she hadn't seen any laughter except for the strange girl laughing at the drugged out fool the night before.
"You done a lot of fucking eh? I bet you miss that." She winked as she leaned against the counter whispering in case Ernie came down, or worse, Arden came home. "I miss it too." Not that she was the town whore or anything but she had a boyfriend or two before. When he complimented her against her brothers she shook her head and blushed, pushed away from the county and moving out of the kitchen, just stopping for a second to give him a sideways glance. "My brothers are good looking. You just have to clean 'em up and slick their hair back. Just don't ask them to do that. They may tell you to fuck off."
She had a mouth on her two. She grew up with two brothers in the back woods after all. No one could expect anything less then her. Daisy thought she was crazy on their way in but she didn't care. She was what she was and she wasn't going to change for anyone.
While Amarie was busy working on the fence with the new biker, she motioned for Tobias to follow her if he wanted to keep talking. She wanted to gather up some fire wood for the nightly fire and to heat up some water to add it to the food. There was no fish catch and she looked to see if Owen and Remy had returned. The truck was still gone. Daisy and Damon were still gone also. She moved to the side of the house and started picking up some of the planks of wood.
"Careful of scorpions. They scatter out from the wood sometimes." She was certain to shake each piece before putting it in her arms. "So what are you doing all the way out here Tobias? Where did you come from?"

If it had been his time that comment would have done it, she missed fucking too, sweet Jaysus he thought. Tobias just smiled, "Aye I miss it rightly so lass, but don' let this old mans face fool ye' I still got the equipment to russel a lady's dress," he stopped and combed his hair back, "Uh forget I said anything Jaysus I sound like a fuckin perv."
She blushed, he saw it but let it side and kept on his charming smile, "I bet they clean up nicely, as do I and if ye told me tha' same I'd probably tell ye to fuck off too. Which brings me to my nex' question I need to bathe soon cause well this heat makes a man sweat."
Tobias followed Ellie (wherever she went he'd follow that's for sure) keeping a distance where he wouldn't get caught looking at her backside, jaysus now he was blushing, she was a fit as a fiddle young lady! Was his heart fluttering? Who was this lady to make old Cocaine Wayne stutter and his heart flutter?
"I was born in Belfast Ireland, raised by me father may he rest in piece," Tobias began as Ellie began handing him sticks, "We came here when I was a lad, he joined the same club Charles and I belong too. Killed him too our lifestyle. Chicago was hard on us Irish, even in those days but I managed. Raised Charles and his sista like they was me own, but when this shite storm broke I was Georgia workin out a club deal. Been with Charles since Florida, living it up as ye say."
He left the part about his daughter's death out, it was a painful memory he hated. It broke him way back and molded him into the savage he was now. Toby pushed it back again and smiled, "So was ye' born and raised 'ere Angel of the eyes?"

"You mean, you're not a fucking perv?" She was teasing with him now as she placed the wood in his hands looking him up and down. He wasn't a bad looking guy. He could probably clean up well but like her brothers, why would he want to? His dirty charm was what made him more appealing and she was sure his rugged appeal got him laid..lots...like he said. That or lots of booze.
"Come on then, to the fire pit." When he dropped the wood back out front, she tried to stack it up to make sure it would all burn evenly and last for a while tonight so they could stay warm. The nights were about to get balmy but the smoke was a good way to keep mosquitoes away.
"We got a well pump around the back of the house. I'm sure there's probably some buckets back there. Ma and pa would fill them up when we lost power during hurricanes. It should still work. You can clean up back there."
She looked up at him as he watched her figuring he would probably want to know where to go to clean up.
"Ireland you say? I wish I could have gone there. I haven't been to many places, mostly here. We took a trip to Alabama once. I wanted to go to New York and Chicago, like where you came from, you lucky bastard."
Once the wood was stacked up properly she sat back on one of the little benches and looked up at him. She wondered if he was going to clean up and head back to the Junkyard or if he was going to stay and eat here. Maybe even drink too. She had no idea how much moonshine was left and if Ernie would even share any more.
"Sounds like your life was pretty ..rough. I'm not sure I could live a life like that."

Amarie was wiped out by the end of the day. Her and Branden had put all the rebar in place down one side of the fence line but everything was far from protected. Branden offered to fix the dock, which she gave him a pass on. They got to know each other a little better and he probably thought her a little crazier for it.
When it was time to go she was okay with that. She gave him some food and water and bid him adieu as she heard the motorcycles down the beaten path. She assumed they were all coming back and really, at this point, she was too tired to deal with bitching at Arden for leaving in the first place. The other biker, Tobias, had finally returned from his kingdom of junk and went inside, she assumed, to bug Ernie for more drugs or booze.
She came back up the driveway, taking off the now dirty gloves and heading to the back pump to clean up a bit. She saw Ellie and Tobias carrying wood and she watched as he followed her like a good puppy. What was it about that girl that guys found so fascinating? She was a wild child, just like her brothers, but being the youngest little angel allowed her to get away with stuff more.
"Looks like you got yourself a happy little toy there, Ellie." She laughed and gave a wink to her friend as she wiped the sweat from her brow. "Try not to break him. I know how sad you get when you lose your toys." She laughed and kept going, heading to the pump to wash off her arms, into her hair and her face. Her clothes were splattered with water, finally taking her shoes off as she pumped more water and giving her feet a good cleansing before hopping back up to the stairs of the front porch and going back in. The cool air of the night felt good, balmy, but good as she found the couch and laid right down on it, stretching out her arms and legs and closing her eyes for a minute. She was beat and looking forward to the next day of hard labor.
Arden spent the six hours to get back alone. Along the way he stopped to remove the sling. He couldn't ride with one hand. The bags on his back were heavy. More guns than ammo st this point, but he Couldn't fit the crates in his bag. He could. Find more anyway, knew where to look. But he still managed to fill the second bag with clips, loaded as well as boxes of bullets themselves.
He hadn't expected to,be gone the whole day. Jace failed to mention it was six hours away, he should have known better than to trust him. But it was to late. Arden kept back, stopping periodically to rest and regain himself. He took a different route than the one they came down, cutting across fields and farms. He knew his way around, what way was the right way.
He came up upon the farm, his house. He stopped the bike and set it off. His eyes went to where the fence had been worked on. Slowly he climbed off and turned the bike off. He didn't see any trucks, the car, or the other bike. The others must not be back yet. He didn't care if they were. The bike he took would be here, parked out front, keys in the ignition.
He saw Damon and Daisy were still gone, Charles and his other bike absent as well. He did t care where everyone was, as long as his family was here. Arden made his way across the yard He set the bags down on the porch. He could see Ellie and Tobias gathering some wood. His arm was killing him, ached and throbbed. He probably over worked it today, would take a bit more to heal.
"I'm home," he called out to whoever was inside. He went and leaned on the porch, matching the sunset, the fire burn. He felt the need for a drink, wondered what they had left. He hadn't eaten or drank anything all day, but he probably wouldn't, not today. Arden looked back through the window, saw Amarie on the couch. He didn't go, didn't say anything. He didn't need to, not yet. Her lecture could wait.
Post by Amarie Elliott on May 14, 2016 7:25:37 GMT -5
Amarie heard another bike roll up but she didn't think much of it. She figured it was Charles, Owen and Remy coming back home or maybe one of the other people from the farm house down the road. She continued to just lay on the couch, eyes closing as her exhausted body just rested for a few more minutes.
However, when she heard Arden's voice her eyes snapped open. She laid there for a second more, gathering up her thoughts as she wondered what she would say to him. She had already gone off on Branden about Arden leaving and she thought she had just talked herself down from that ledge. But hearing his voice got her all riled up again. She slowly sat up, body aching from all the work they just did, pushing away from the couch and moving to the porch. She looked out the screen door and saw him standing there, without the sling on, wondering what the hell he was doing.
"That didn't take long enough. You sure you wanna be back so early?" Her voice had a sting to it as she pushed the door open, coming out to the porch to join him. She already started to regret the words she said to him, but the fact that he left in the first place was still a thorn in her paw.
"You took your sling off too. They find you a miracle cure for a fucked up arm?" She raised a brow as she picked up one of the bags of supplies. She figured it was ammo and guns by the way it rattled in the bag and the fact they said they wanted to get more guns and ammo. She didn't expect him to put any more weight on that bad arm then he had to.
She was clearly on a roll railing him at this point, bringing everything back in and trying to figure out a place to put the weapons. She figured they could make a cache where they could just run and get weapons easily but she would have to figure out where that would be. Her eyes searched around the living room and came to rest on a coat closet.
"Come on then, get in. Looks like Ellie and her new boyfriend are safe."
Arden heard Amarie come out and looked up. She made a comment and Arden glared for a moment. "Figured I would have stopped at the bar. Picked up some crack who're skank, you know, the usual. Maybe get in a fight. Figure a bar brawl was what I need, after a good fuck." He was trying to get to her, get under her skin.
Arden smirked and spit off the porch. "Why, do you not want me back? I didn't know how far it was, ended up being six fucking hours away, Jace said it was a quick run. It fucking wasn't. Had I known we were going to be gone all day I never would have left. But I got the guns, and the ammo. Didn't stick around when they wanted to save some fucking people, I left as soon as I could."
He kept his eyes on her. "And yah, I removed my sling. Can't drive with one hand, not a bike. It's in the bag, it would throw the balance off. Bad enough with the guns and ammo on my back." He kept his one arm at his side. His eyes still watched her. "What the fuck do you want me to say? I'm sorry? That it? I got us weapons, I didn't leave you alone. Ellie was here, Ernie too. You weren't alone, so it's doesn't matter, the house was safe."
Arden moved off the porch. "Me leaving didn't mean shit, what could I do anyway. Wounded wing, better to just be put down. I couldn't help with the fence, couldn't help with tasks. I'd be useless here. That's all I could do." Arden looked away. "I wasn't gonna sit around, do nothing here. So I had to go. Had to do something. It all worked out."
arden picked up the other bag and followed her inside, setting it in the close he stepped back, watched her. "How far did you get on the fence? How much rebar is left?"

Amarie went back into the house and dropped the bag by the couch she was laying on as Arden spoke about going to the bar and fucking a crack whore.
"Oh you know what Arden? That is so typical of you. Is that how it was before? You get all pissed off, drink and just screw anything that looks at you sideways?"
He stood there and spit off the porch and explained how long it took them to get where they were going and honestly, at that pace, she was surprised he made it back this soon.
"I never wanted you to leave in the first place! So your arm is hurt, so what? You don't have to constantly be doing something! You need to rest and heal. You go off on all day adventures and you may find yourself in worse shape. What would you have done if something happened to you? You were out there, and now you're coming back, by yourself, bad arm and a shit ton of weapons."
She turned back towards the closet, dragging the weapons with her as she used what little light was left to try and organize everything, although really, she had a good mind to make him do it.
"Something could have happened to you." She was mumbling a bit as she said that, going through the closet and pulling coats off the hangers, setting them back outside. She was exhausted and didn't want to fight with him. She was happy that he changed the subject on her. The last thing the both of them needed was her railing on him.
"We got the east side of the property done. We used all the rebar we got from the junkyard. I may try to go through more of that twisted metal to do the other side in the morning."
"I don't drink," Arden said watching her. It was true. He didn't frequent the bar, he wasn't a drunk like Owen and Ernie. For the most part Arden was sober. His First drink in a long time was the other night, by the fire. Even then it was just a sip. Arden didn't drink. He had just been trying to get under her. For anyone to actually know arden would know he didn't sleep around, he barely slept with anyone. He wasn't looking for a good time, he was just looking out for himself.
"I'm fine, always had been. I don't need to worry about myself, one arm or not, I can still shoot, so I can handle myself out there. But here, I feel fuckin' useless. Can't even change a damb light bulb. Naw, i needed to go out there. I had to go there, had to get these weapons. They were for us, for the group. Now, we don't need to worry. Not about the guns, about ammo. We have it covered. As they all leave, we got it covered." Arden shook his head, "I know something could have happened, but it didn't. I can handle myself."
He watched her organize the weapons, "we can do that in the morning, got all day tomorrow. I just wanted to get them. Think Jace would have brought us back half, I barely got thes with me there. They were more worried about some two dumb assholes, and some trucks."
He listened to her explain the fence. "All of it? Dam? Tomorrow we need to make sure Damon and Owen don't run off. Without Branden, you don't have anyone to help you on the fence. And you can't do it alone, to much work for you." He rubbed along his jaw and watched her. "What about some of the construction gong in around here. McCready's were renovations their barn, and their bedrooms. The hardware store had the entire floor tore up, had to fix a pipe. That and some of the road crew fixing the highway, might have rebar."

"This place has some Ireland like beauty but it isn't home," he said remembering his home as a child a small clay house with a hay thatched roof. The smell of a garden freshly tilled by a horse, Christ the gardens his father could grow!
"Well lass I'll tell he got a better deal being 'ere and not up in tha' God forsaken cess pool Chicago! New York was never as bad when I went but tha' was jus' one day," he said giving her a smile Jaysus he hadn't smiled at a woman who actually touched his crabby heart I'm a long time, "I may wash up and stay for suppa'."
Or was he staying to son's more time with her? To see Charles? He knew he wanted to know more about Ellie, but would his biker demnor be to much for the sweetness of her good heart?
"Well lass you may be cut out fer more, this life now is my life on a day to day," he told her with confidence, she was cut out for more or she wouldn't be here.
Post by Ellie St. Mordeaux on May 17, 2016 19:40:04 GMT -5
"Nah, it's no Ireland, but it does have something special." She smiled as she said that, sitting down and moving a little closer as she looked up to the tops of the bald cypress trees. They were tall and the knobby and sticking out of the water like knuckles on fingers. She smiled as she looked back to Tobias. She was starting to feel a little closer to the biker although she wasn't sure what was drawing her in like this. She did like him though. He was personable and nice and seemed to have an interest in sparking a friendship with her. She hadn't really thought about anything but getting home all these months..until now. Maybe it was a good time to rekindle some old friendships and making new ones. A guy like Tobias was useful in times like these.
"When the sun goes down on a summer night you can feel the humidity coming off the swamp and you get to hear the cicadas singing. Sometimes it's so loud you can't even have a conversation outside without even having to shout. Then the frogs come out and start chirping at different speeds and tones and it's like listening to a choir of angels. Then, you look up into the sunset and you see all kinds of colors in the sky like orange, purple and pink and you realize how lucky you are to be out here."
She blushed a little as she had this sentimental moment speaking about living here and her childhood and she turned back to the fire. "You hear the crackling fire and the swamp creatures and it's just like being in heaven out here. You'll see."
She smiled again and looked back to him. "Nah, I don't need no big cities when I got all this."
She stayed put and continued to stare at the fire knowing they would have to use some of the pre-packed food she brought back from the city but she didn't mind. It's why she brought it back. Without any fish caught by Remy and Owen they would need to eat something.
"Go wash up then. Get cleaned up and I'll get some food ready for us. I'm not sure when your buddy Charles is gonna be back."
Post by Amarie Elliott on May 18, 2016 5:33:11 GMT -5
Amarie continued to try and put the guns in some sort of order but it was getting dark and she wasn't in the mood to work any further. Neither was her body. She was feeling tired and hungry, probably a bit dehydrated from working outside all day. Her skin had tanned from the sun and she felt as if she could sleep for three days.
She looked up at Arden as his mind diffused from trying to get to her, which, in turn, diffused her. She could never really stay mad at him for long. Even when he was a big jerk to her she pulled herself back and just let it roll off her back.
"Yea, maybe tomorrow. Right now I just want to lay down. It's been a long day."
Owen and Remy still hadn't returned, nor had Daisy and Damon. She hoped they were all coming back but with the sun coming down she worried they would be trapped somewhere. She heard Ellie and Tobias talking by the fire although she couldn't tell what they were saying. She knew she had to eat first and because Ellie slept in so late, she hoped her friend would be the one making dinner and keeping watch tonight.
She got up off the floor and went over to Arden offering a half smile as her eyes lowered to his arm. "I'm sorry Arden. I just don't want anything to happen to you. This is your home and you rule the roost here, you know?"
She sighed and reached out for his good arm, taking him by the hand and bringing him towards the couch where they could both sit and talk. The fire outside was starting to burn brightly but she wasn't about to light a fire in the fireplace in the main room. She knew it would get way too hot with the humidity starting to rise and the summer heat starting to settle in. She always preferred the summer to the winter but she knew how hot it could get here and without the luxuries of a/c summers seemed sweltering somedays...especially trapped in that attic of the farm house last yet.
She sat down on the couch and looked at him, leaning back and taking a break.
"So where did you go? Tell me about this place where you got all those weapons. We'll worry about the docks and the other side of the house tomorrow."
Post by Baron Neal on May 18, 2016 16:10:20 GMT -5
There it was. Baron had been hunting most of the morning, drinking some left over moonshine he had Ernie whip up. He had his crossbow at the ready with his shitty custom made stick arrow that wasn't even sharp enough to take down a deer, but he sure was gonna try. The deer was just sitting there in the open, begging to be shot. And Baron knew, that when he killed it and brought it back to base that he would be the man. All the woman would thank him for feeding them. He was smiling about the potential glory while pulling his arm back and releasing the arrow.
It goes flying half way and lands a few feet in front. But the fact that it wasn't startled had Baron wondering. He took a few steps forward, squinting his eyes. It was a goddamn pile of sticks. It wasn't no deer. Baron couldn't believe he fooled himself. Actually thinking something will go his way for once. Who was he kidding. Ever since before the "end" he had always had a fucked up life. His decisions were care free resulting in many unfulfilled dreams and long nights passed out drunk in his apartment lobby.
Now here he is, in the middle of a death infested world and he can't even hunt a deer. There are no houses nearby so he couldn't just loot cabinets. Instead the only way to feel useful was to hunt and that wasn't going his way. Which pissed him off. He kicked over the pile of sticks and began to look around, trying to think of what to do. He even began to speak to himself out of anger. "What the fuck am I doing? Trying to impress people that don't give a shit about me? I ain't no fuckin idiot. If I died right now, ain't nobody gonna come lookin." That's when an idea popped into his head. He was right. Nobody would come looking. Especially if he just up and left. With their stuff.
"You tired? Want to head to bed," Arden asked, looking at her. "We could go up, go lay down. It's been a long day, I could use some rest, something to eat." He smiled, He hadn't eaten or drank anything today. He didn't need it out there. But he was feeling it now. His head hurt, and he was getting tired. "We can sort tomorrow."
She came to him. "Nothing happened, I know. I won't run off again. I don't want anything to happen to you, to anyone here. You're my family, all that matters." He looked at her and smiled feeling her guide him by his good arm. He smiled at her as he followed as. Gripped her waist taking a seat he sat next to her.
He took a seat on the couch, kicked his boots up on the tale. He could see small droplets of rain falling on the window, it was dark, and they didn't notice the rain coming in, with a crack of thunder he shook his had. "Least the rain barrel will be full. Nothing like natural rain water." He grinned. Slowly he put an arm around her.
"It was a military base, miss hours away. Lots of buildings, truck depot, armoury, and some ammunition hub. All a stretch of road between them. Mostly picked over, a few biters going there, and a shit ton when I left. Why I left, k wasn't gonna stand around with my dick in my hand waiting for the. To do something. I had grabbed the guns, grabbed the ammo and left."
He sighed. "But I made it back, I can help with the other parts of the fence tomorrow." The rain was really coming down now, the thunder loud and crackling. Arden stood up. "Why don't we go lay down. We can talk in bed right?"
Post by Amarie Elliott on May 20, 2016 5:25:02 GMT -5
Amarie looked towards the window as she saw the rain started to trickle down from the skies. That meant the fire was going to be put out and she wasn't sure what was going to be cooked up for dinner tonight. She knew Ellie was out there with Tobias, but that wasn't for long. She heard the footsteps coming up the stairs to the porch of the house. She sat down on the couch next to Arden and smiled a bit.
"Yea, I could sleep but we need to eat. All this work and not enough food is kicking my ass."
When he started talking about the military base she looked genuinely surprised.
"Six hours? They went that far? What the hell? I mean, it's fine if they want to go, none of my business, but they took you that far from your home?" She felt herself fuming again as she shot her eyes to the empty fireplace. There was no point in arguing it any more. She was tired, he was tired and they just needed to eat. Ellie already told her she would take care of the food today and with Remy and Owen gone she worried about where they were also.
With a sigh she looked back at Arden and nodded. "Well, at least we got ammo but I'm thinking we need to get back to the other house and get what's in the attic. You think they found that stuff yet? We didn't use it all in the fight against the bikers."
When the rain started to come down in buckets, she looked back and saw Ellie grabbing some buckets and collecting the rain water. In typical fashion, she was out there almost playing in it as she watched her friend washing down. She grinned and sat up as Arden mentioned going upstairs.
"Yea, Ellie said she'll make dinner tonight." She stood up and went to the kitchen, into the pantry and grabbing a few granola bars for them to eat. That would tide them over until Ellie could get something hot for everyone to eat with the MREs she put away.
"Come on then." She had a good mind to go wash off in the rain herself as it was a natural shower these days, but she had already gotten the grime off her body at the pump and she had no desire to get naked with that biker still outside.
When she got into his room, she sat down and groaned a bit from her body's ache that was starting to settle in. Arden said he would help in the morning, but she's not sure what he could really do. Maybe he could do some fishing and just take it easy. She worried about his recovery and over working himself. She worried about him, period.
"I feel you. I didn't eat anything all day. Or drink for that matter. Idiots didn't say how long we were gonna be gone or I would have packed some shit. They made it seem close, not six hours away," Arden said shaking his head. He need something. "I know, they dragged me away for to long, but by the time I figured it out, I could t exactly get them to turn around. Jace never said how far it was away. Guess I just assumed that it wouldn't be an all day affair." He looked away. "I don't know what they were thinking."
Arden looked out at the rain. "Owen and Remy aren't back yet? What about Daisy and Damon? They back yet?" He turned to Amarie. "Everyone's gone all night? You see Ernie around? Or did he fuck off again too?" Last time Ernie just vanished, wandered away, Arden spent a month trying to find his sorry ass, maybe longer.
At least he knew where Ellie was. "Yeah, got more guns than ammo. But got enough. I doubt they found it. Only one who really knew was Charles, and he left with Owen and Remy. If anything it's still there. We can check tomorrow. Not like the own the place. We get what we need, and get out." Arden nodded, "that work for yah?"
He looked at the granolabars she grabbed and smiled. "Ellie's cooking? Would rather eat the inside of my boot. Girl, burns water. To bad Owen ain't here, he can cook. Guess these will do." He laughed. "Don't think I've ever ate anything of yours. But I bet you can cook. You're smart, smartest one out of all our bayou clan."
He grinned and followd her upstairs. He pulled off his boots and took a seat on the bed. "Maybe we should get this back in a sling? Or wrapped or soemthing," he said pointing to his still broken arm. "Right, that's what we need to do?" He leaned back and smiled, stretching out his legs on the bed. "What you thinking about? Got 'dat look on your face."

Ellie was outside with Tobias when the storm clouds started to roll in. She knew what that meant and she knew she would have to gather up the buckets to collect more rain water, outside the barrel that was on the side of the house where the storm drain shot water right into it.
Tobias had gone off to clean himself up and Baron wandered out into the woods to do something she supposed, hoping it wasn't the rest of Ernie's drugs. He already had one bad trip and the last thing they needed was another.
She called out to Baron as light droplets of rain started to call out. "Hey Baron! It's gonna storm soon! Get back to the house!" She wasn't sure what she was going to make them for dinner and with the fire soon put out, it looked like they were going to be eating luke warm beans and franks tonight.
She also knew the storm meant she could wash herself right off without wasting any more of the well water and when the thunder and lightning clapped closer overhead, she saw the clouds moving in fast and the storm unleashing down upon them.
She stayed outside as Amarie and Arden went upstairs gathering the buckets on the porch and taking advantage of the full amounts of rain that came pouring down. She took her shirt off, laying it across the railing of the porch and shimmied out of her shorts, leaving nothing but her undergarments on as she looked up to the sky allowing the rain to wash away any grime in her hair and on her face. She didn't care of Tobias and Baron saw her this way and if Owen, Remy, Damon and Daisy rolled up, they would get an eyeful.
She enjoyed the feeling of cool rain against her skin, washing away the damp humidity that seeped into the air, refreshing her body and spirit. She was a true summer child of the bayou and always loved the evening storms.
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
