The previous day had been odd to say the least. Her and Blade met two people, both of whom come and gone. At least they knew people were still alive. She slept upstairs while Blade took the comfy couch downstairs without a care in the world. She was still scared, probably too much still and she was worried someone or something would barge through that front door and attack him. If that were the case, she would have to sneak out through the attic window making her even more of a coward.
When the sun came up, she finally got herself up off the floor, put the jeans back on and threw on a sweatshirt to keep warm as the crisp ocean air blasted on shore. She liked this time of the morning. She could could see the sunrise from the roof of the little house they were in although she worried about the wear and tear on her house by the river. The main road ran between all the ocean village homes and the river was a block or so back behind them.
She crawled out of the windows and she could swear she heard Blade snoring down below. Going around the house, using a top floor balcony, she gently tip toed over the short railing, careful not to trip over the beach chairs that were once used to tan and drink lemonade, coming to face the road and look east to see the sun coming up.
This was the first time in several days she was able to just sit and enjoy the quiet. She felt at ease as she heard the far away ocean waves crashing and the seagulls chirping as they awakened. Only occassionally did she hear the growl of walker but she had yet to be spotted on the rooftop.
