Chris heard mention and call of a medic and that she would need to undergo a medical exam and bite check. Something she actually shrugged at and didn't look nervous at all, giving an air that she had nothing to hide and she had no bites, but she left that for the examiner to find. Instead of fear or hesitance, she met Ian with a kind grin and nodded with her staff in her hand as she walked through the door that Ian opened in her stead. "Thank you kindly. Anywhere in particular for me to wait until I'm examined, or..?", she asked Ian promptly while letting her gaze explore elsewhere about the building, curious what it held and who was in it. While waiting, she took the time to take out what looked to be one of many large towelettes that was big enough to fit around the circumference of her staff as she wiped it free of any blood or gore that was on it, the towelettes being rather absorbent and she was glad she was wearing gloves as she held the rag in emphasis to Ian. "Is there an incinerator or some special trash can I can throw this away? It's my mess, I'll pitch it out...just need to know where."
"Incincerator?" Ian said. "Yeah, there's one in the basement level, Chris, " motioning for McCready, the medic he'd asked about outside. "Just give it to her," pointing towards the medic, "and she'll dispose of it with the rest of the waste. The medical area's down on the far western end of the building; just look for the red cross above the door; the exam shouldn't take very long. If you need anything, just borrow McCready's radio and holler; I'll be over in communications, checking in on the events over the river in Windsor." After a moment, he added, "If you'd like, Chris, I'll give you a tour of the building here, show you the highlights and all," almost halfway wishing Sarah was here since she was better at this kind of stuff than he was.

"Sure thing. After my exam, I guess, since I'd be free to explore when I pass?", she asked Ian with a confidence that she'd pass, it was almost assured otherwise, as she turned her head to gaze to McCready, who she remember him to say was her examiner and the medic, and walked towards her with a tilt to her head. "Hello. I suppose you're the one to examine me?"
(NPC McCready, Belle Isle's Senior Medic) "That would be correct," McCready said as Ian headed off to Communications for the time being. For a moment she thought the other woman seemed nervous, so she tried to reassure her everything would be alright. "Basically, all I'm gonna do is a simple physical exam, make sure everything's in order, give you a once-over to make sure there isn't any indication of walker bites or scratches. Nothing more intrusive than that, ma'am. While I'm doing that, I'll also check your blood pressure, heartrate, breathing, ask you a few questions about your overall health, and that's basically all the exam is. Everyone goes through it whenever they leave Belle Isle for anywhere outside the island; there aren't very many rules here but that one is ironclad."
Pointing down towards the warren of exam rooms, she added, "If you'll go to Exam 1, I'll be there in a moment; I just need to grab my medical kit and a notepad to take down results and such. There's a long robe in there; if you'll undress and put the robe on, we'll get the exam out of the way. Shouldn't take more than five, ten minutes tops." Looking back down the corridor, she continued, "I think Ian said afterward he'd take you on a tour of the building; we can always start the tour from the medical wing first," smiling in an effort to ease any concerns the other woman had.

Chris listened closely to the female medic that was giving her instructions and saw the room she pointed to, and nodded with a smile that she understood before she went into the room and looked around for the content of the room. She did, indeed, see a long robe and looked around to make sure there weren't cameras around before she started to slip her jacket off and then lifted her short-sleeve shirt off as well, ending up in just her blue bra which she took off as well, then proceeded to do the same to her lower half as well until she was fully nude, at which she took the robe and quickly put it around her form and tied it securely, putting her clothes in next to her bag on the bed as she sat on it to wait for McCready.
(NPC McCready) Walking back into the exam room, medical kit and notepad in hand, McCready smiled at Chris, who was dressed only in the long robe she'd spoke of earlier. Setting out a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff, she walked over and scooted the back of her robe down a little so that she could check both Chris's breathing and heart. "Okay, just breathe normally," she began, listening for several moments before moving the listening part around a couple of places. "Again," she said, listening for several seconds more. Then she moved around to the front and did likewise. "Okay, breathe again....there we go," pausing to listen, again moving the scope around a couple of places on her upper chest. "Good heart sounds, good breathing," she whispered, stoppign to take a few notes down.
Then she proceeded to take Chris's blood pressure, fixing the blood pressure cuff on her right arm and checking her blood pressure a couple of times, McCready using her watch to count the time. Taking a few more notes, she said with a with's practiced humor, "Blood pressure's alright, a little high on the receiving end but given the world we live in, I seriously doubt God's paying attention." Making a few more notes, she then checked Chris's eyesight and looked inside both ears, pausing to tack on a few more notes. "Everything looks good," McCready said.
Setting down her notepad, she looked over at the other woman. "Okay, the last part's the bite check; all it entails is a physical, eyeball look at both the front and back of the body, including the arms, the legs and neck. Given that, from what I've seen thus far, there's no bite marks or scratches on either the arms or your neck, so that leaves the upper body, both front and back, and the lower body, from the waist down. If you will, go ahead and disrobe and just place the robe around your chest and midsection; I'll do a quick sweep of both legs and then just tie the robe around your waist and I'll do the same thing for the upper body, and that should pretty well be that," making a few more notes that would, should Chris decide to stay, would become a part of the woman's medical file.

Chris adhered to the medic's attention and directions, and nodded nonchalantly as if she 100% knew she was going to pass that kind of test, but she knew they had to be sure; it was a rule, after all! She chalked the high heart rate part to having not had a medical check-up in ages and so it was weird to experience it again given the state of the world. So with the prelim check-up out of the way, it came to the bite check where she had to partially disrobe. She looked down at the robe around her form; she could just take it fully off to save time, but she knew that'd be inappropriate, so she did what McCready said and lifted her robe and secured it around her waistline, revealing her rather tone legs and healthy hips and other negligible parts in that area, namely her crotch, as she watched the rather young-looking medic attentively. "Since this a first for me and if I'm going to be honest, I've gotta get this out there...but I have HIV, which means AIDS as well. Just letting you know.", she said quietly as she glanced aside.
(NPC McCready) "HIV-positive, you say?" McCready said as she quickly went through the bite check portion of the exam; not seeing anything out of the ordinary, she made another note or two and motioned for her to go ahead and put her robe back on. "That's shouldn't be a problem; we have a good supply of anti-retrovirals, something I've known all too well the past several years since I'm also in the same boat as you...well, in regards to HIV that is." It wasn't idle chat either; McCready had found out her status years before the Great Panic and was very stoic about it; it wasn't something she brought up but it also gave a somewhat fatalistic calm about life in general. "Anyway," she said, picking up her notepad and gathering her medical instruments, all of which she returned to her medical kit, "you've got a clean bill of health; as soon as I step outside, you can go ahead and get dressed."
Walking over to the dress, McCready paused, looked back at the woman and said before leaving, "If you ever need to talk about anything - and I mean anything - come by anytime; the door's always open." Without waiting for a reply, she stepped outside and closed the door behind her, giving Chris some privacy while she got dressed.

Chris wasn't left a chance to reply to the woman as she vacated her room. So she had HIV as well? She guessed what's why she was so accepting of her condition, so she couldn't help but smile that she wasn't being judged. As soon as the room was just hers, she slipped the robe off of her form to take a fresh bra, black in color, from her bag to put on and then the same for a pair of panties, then pulled on a fresh pair of jeans and a red shirt now, putting her old clothes in a seperate compartment of her bag before walking out of the room with it and her jacket under her arm, looking around curiously now.
Meanwhile, over in Communications....Standing behind Beardie and one of Belle Isle's radio operators, Ian's brow furrowed into one of concern as Sarah's voice came in over the radio....
...grabbing her radio, she pressed the mic and spoke into it. "Belle Isle, this is Sarah! First boat's on its' way...tell Ian to meet them at the dock," she said before returning her radio to its place on her belt....
Rushing out of the room, Ian saw McCready, who by all appearances was finished with her exam of the new arrival. "Kate, grab your medkit and get out to the dock; the first group from Windsor are on their way in!" pointing towards the dock; with the distance between Dieppe Park and Belle Isle, the first boatload of Windsorians' would be arriving in no short order.

Chris heard that something major was going on, and so she stepped out of the room after clicking the last button of her new button-down short-sleeve and looked around with her staff in her right hand, her green eyes looking around to find Kate or Ian, or both. and found both nearby and walked up to them, wondering what was going on?
The docks adjoining the Detroit Yacht Club in Past Times (from L-R: Dock 1, Dock 2, Main Dock [a/k/a T-Dock], Dock 3, Dock 4 and Dock 5; on the other side is Dock 7)
Scrambling outside, Ian watched the first boat come up to the T-dock and came to a stop; as a couple of handlers secured it to the dock, he was joined by Chris, who by the looks of it, had been cleared by McCready. "The first of the boats we sent over to Windsor just arrived," he said, stepping aside to let the eight or so Canadians that were on-board proceed past them. "Doesn't look like anyone's hurt, Kate; go ahead and have the medics check to see if they need anything." After a few moments, he continued. "There was a group of survivors over in Windsor, Ontario, at the former University of Windsor. They'd been doing alright until bandits over there started threatening them...apparently, they decided to attack them today; there's about two dozen or so of them in all. They called a little while ago asking if we could help them; we're in the process of bringing them over here. In fact, I was getting several portable shelters to bring over - the ones in the back of the truck earlier - when you came across the bridge.
As they stood there, he saw the Bo staff Chris was carrying and asked, "That's an interesting staff you've got there, Chris...do you practice often with it or anything? I only ask 'cause Sarah has a couple of rattan baston Filipino stick-fighting weapons and she practices every single day with them. Doesn't matter the weather; she'll still go out there...and she's good with those Filipino weapons - I tried practicing with her once; all I'm going to say is that my arms still sting from where those bastons' hit...and that was just practice; imagine what they'd do to a bad guy," he added. Looking at the sky for a moment, he said, "And to think, it was a nice, sunny Motor City morning..."

Chris looked around at the scenery near the docks as she had tagged along with Kate and Ian, it isn't like she was going to be left alone after only recently having been brought in, right? Amidst her scanning of the area to find that there was safety in there being no zombies about, but there were injured people possibly, she heard Ian's question towards her regarding her weapon of choice. Her gaze shifted to it in a solemn manner before closing her eyes and speaking. "I'd practice as often as I could with it. I wouldn't say I'm 'the best' or anything, but I do like to think I'm above average. Sarah..is she your leader? That's admirable. This particular ones was an unlikely gift from an old man I man on Hell day. He gave me refuge in his home, basically taught me to take life and death as it was; status, and go with the flow, if you know what I mean. In other words, I don't kill people, I only kill them things because they are unnatural...any live ones that oppose me, the worst I do is knock them unconscious.", she explained softly before looking up at the elder man.
"Yeah, Sarah's the leader of the group here," Ian said as they continued to stand out on the docks. "She used to run the docks here at the yacht club back when the world wasn't crawling with growlers and bad guys," listening to Chris's words and solemnly nodding as well. "You and Sarah should definitely get along; I think she pretty much has the same philosophy...she doesn't like to kill either except when she absolutely has to, something her eskrima master back in the Philippines taught her when she was growing up there. Of course, in this day and age..," crossing his arms over his chest as he stood there alongside Chris, his thoughts split between whatever was ongoing over in Windsor and things on the Island...

Chris nodded quietly to show she was paying attention and taking in what the elder man taught her about the lady she'd possibly be meeting soon, the lady that is the leader of the haven she was most likely now a part of, and she couldn't help but wonder...would they get a long? She knew that had similar viewpoints and philosophy, but what if that wasn't enough? Would she want to spar with her? She didn't know, but right now she wanted to just focus on meeting Sarah and see how she was like.
Before Ian could say anything else, he heard Kate calling from the dockside entrance. "Ian, second boat on its' way, ETA about 5 minutes," she said; whistling for a moment, he asked her, "Let me know when both the last boat we sent over and the skiff Sarah's on are on their way back, okay?" As Kate nodded and went back inside, Ian turned and looked over at Chris. "While we're waiting for Sarah and the rest of that group from Windsor to arrive, we need to get a couple of those shelters I brought from the other end of the island set up on the western side of the building, by that large grassy area," pointing towards the area, which was next to the yacht club building. "Can you help me and a few others get the DRASH shelters set up, Chris?" he asked.

Chris looked back from the view of the island and the piers to Ian after he had gotten finished talking about a skiff with Sarah on it and more boats incoming, he mentioned something about shelthers that he wanted her to help a few others collect and play elsewhere. How hard could that be? With a kind grin, Chris nodded her head and placed a hand on her hip for comfort in her stance before speaking. "Of course, I just need to know how to make the shelters movable. I've never dealt with this kind of thing before...is there someone who can show me? I know you're busy, so..."
"Yeah," Ian replied, looking around. Seeing a pair of his fellow former Guardsmen nearby, he whistled for them and waved them over to where he and Chris were "Guys, those DRASH shelters I brought over? We need to get them set up in that grassy area next to the building and we'll need to anchor them down. Here's what I need the three of you," introducing Chris to them, "to do." Pointing to the first of them he began, "Scott, bring the truck around so that Mike and Chris," pausing as they introduced themselves, "can get the shelters set up," adding as Scott took off, "the shelters, Chris, are military-grade and can be set up in about fifteen minutes or thereabouts.
"Once we get the shelters set up, we'll need to anchor them into the ground; although the shelters come with large tent-pegs," pausing as the second boat sent over to Windsor began to enter his line of sight," which is where the dead-man weights come in. They're basically sandbags that we put over the tent-pegs so that if we get a real bad storm coming through, the sandbags will help keep the shelters in place..." Remembering the last bit of what Chris said, Ian added, "I'll be in this general area if you need me, Chris, okay?"

Chris nodded her head in appreciation and acknowledgment as she was introduced during the explanation from Ian about her assignment, and nodded to the men she was assigned to help. If anything, this was her first assignment, but she didn't take it for granted; the decision for her to be a part of the community was for Sarah, she assumed, and she hasn't met her yet. Maybe Ian will fill her in about her, maybe not. She didn't know, but she wasn't going to worry about that right now. She had an assignment so she was going to do it. With a nod of confirmation, she looked to the men she would be accompanying and made a gesture to them before speaking. "After you, fellas. I do not know my way around, so I'll follow you."
(OOC: If you want, Chris, we can do a short timeskip of about an hour; that way, I bring over both Sarah and Elise from the 'Scylla & Charybdis' thread over in the Canada sub-forum.)
