Arden was still hostile, but he let it go...thankfully. She would talk to him, in depth, about what was going on with Owen at some point in the morning, but for now, it could wait. Really, the only thing that had happened between her and Owen was a bit of kissing and some touching, but nothing beyond that, physically. Emotionally was a different story.
She went back inside and grabbed his hand, feeling her way through the house. "I'll talk to him in the morning about you. Ain't no need in getting things all riled up again but you'll have to talk to him too at some point. Can't have you both circling each other like polecats ready to fight."
She started to lead him up the stairs, in the dark and down to the end of the hallway to the empty master bedroom. The only thing she could hear were the frogs chirping outside the house in the swamp and it was a welcomed, happy sound.
"Why don't you go get cleaned up. I'm gonna feel around in the dark for some matches or a lighter. I know my aunt used to keep all these scented candles up here."
She laughed a bit as she felt for the bed, trying not to trip over anything on the floor. She knew her aunt would have kept matches in the nightstand on her side of the bed.
"I'm pretty sure she didn't have them for romance though. The smell of Uncle Ed after a day of hunting and fishing was probably too much."
Feeling her way around the bed, she finally sat down and reached in, finding a little bic lighter that she flicked, giving them immediate light. With a smile she was happy to have found the fire and applied it to the wick of two candles in jars. One was left on the nightstand and the other was going to be brought into the bathroom so Owen didn't trip over the bathtub.
She set the candle on the edge of the tub and stood up, turning away if he was going to start to undress. She knew it was stupid to look away. The both of them had seen naked bodies before, but this was new. She hadn't seen him this way before. She hadn't seen him like this towards any girl really. She knew she wanted this with him and she didn't want him to feel like he had more invested in her then she did in him. With that little bit of light she moved towards a small closet that had some clean, folded towels inside.
"Sorry the water is cold, but I guess that's what we have to do now. If we go to my apartment in the city and we get the generator running, we can take a nice, hot shower for as long as you want."
