Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
His mother was a nurse and his father a construction worker, the two met after a severe work accident and married seven months later, one year in Dom was born. The couple had three more children, all sons. Dominque grew up in Alexandria Louisiana most of his life, went to Pineville Elementary School and Pineville High School, but moved to Baton Rouge to study engineering at Louisiana State University. After graduating as an electrical engineer he soon started working for a local firm, doing whatever needed to be done, and he was good at it.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
When the disease reached Louisiana, few were let in on what was going on. The government tried to keep it hushed down, though the increasing presence of the National Guard didn`t make anything better. It wasn`t until the shooting started that people began to panic, and at that point Dominique was already in New Orleans hanging out with friends. Some suffered the consequences of drinking too much the night before, but the remaining few managed to stick together and survive by holing up in a hotel room.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
The next few days was rough, people continued to die and the dead continued to rise up. Everything collapsed, only the lucky who lived to tell the tale managed to make do with what was left and for at least a couple of weeks, Dominique stayed with his friends in New Orleans. Eventually they split up and Dom made his way home alone, hoping to find his family alive somewhere. On the road he encountered many threats, but also gained new friends. When he reached the town of Alexandria he found his family home abandoned, they had left and he had no idea where too. He began to search the areas where they could have gone, visiting friends and neighbors alike, yet found nothing.
With rumors swirling about that Baton Rouge had issued a warning for everyone to seek shelter in the city, Dominque figured his family must have gone there, especially since he had relatives living there. Alongside his newfound friends he headed that way, traversing through various obstacles that made the road difficult. Upon arriving the big city he went to his aunt`s and uncle`s place, though what he found there was worse than he`d imagined. They were dead, alongside his mama and two brothers. There was nothing indicating his father had been there, but his younger brother must have fled the area. For the remainder of his stay he went out to look for him, though came back empty handed each time.
Depressed and with little motivation to continue he found solace in one of the girls he traveled with, and for a while they hid with friends within the city. Later on as they traveled they encountered another group of survivors, who turned out to be hostile. Despite their great efforts to fight them off, they failed and were taken captive; the thugs took the woman and fired to kill the men. Dominique only survived by chance as he took a bullet and hid beneath a murdered friend. Once in the free and clear he was taken in by someone who treated his wound, an old woman that also had issues with the other group.
Together they made a plan of rescue and with it set in motion they went out to deal justice, freeing the prisoners and ridding the world of madmen. Amongst them he found one of his old friends from New Orleans, who had gone bad and who he had to kill. His girlfriend had been raped numerous times by several individuals and was carrying a baby to an unknown father; their relationship never recovered after that, though with the threat dealt with and the prisoners freed, the survivors made a new home out of the ashes. Nine months later his girlfriend died during childbirth, the baby did not survive.
The community succumbed to the overwhelming threat of walking corpses and after approximate three years, Dominique became the lone survivor of his entire group.
