Shauna sat on the edge of the roof with her legs hanging off the side as she waited for a new day to start, sunrise was near and as always she was looking forward to it. To her it was a routine she took advantage of when the clouds were clear, if anything it de-stressed her from her worries and relaxed her. Plus it kept her ground to realty. Before she had climbed out the window to the roof she had boiled some water on the fire and made herself a coffee from some instant coffee she had found in a press. With her cup of coffee on one side and cigarettes that she still had on the other side she waited patiently dispite the cold.
It still felt strange for her to be able to see the stars so clearly, who would of imagined that even with the fall of man that there could be such beauty left in the world and untouched by the infected.
With a quick sip of her black coffee she placed it down and took out a cigarette. She knew they were cancer sticks like her mother use to say, but it was a bad habit she enjoyed, it reminded her of the life she had before and the life she still missed

Chris searched for awhile, before finally finding Shauna, sitting on the edge of the roof. He was guarding the other part of the house and was worried when she wasn't on her spot. He climbed out of the window and sat behind her, opening his legs and wrapping his arms around her waist, to pull her a little closer, before resting his head on her shoulder. “Everything alright, I searched the whole place to find you, was getting worried, Love.” He spoke softly.
He then looked up at the starts, it was nice to see some pretty things, in this shitty world. “As much as I love sitting here, I’m looking forward to shift switching, so we can get some sleep.” He spoke calmly. Chris and Shauna where on guard duty, soon the would switch with two others.
It was then Chris noticed the cigarette and the coffee. “There are already enough things that can kill you, don’t have to add some extra.” He said with a wink. He couldn’t forbid her to smoke, just a friendly warning. “Mind sharing some coffee?” he asked with a smile, still resting his head on her shoulder.

Shauna turned her head as Chris approached from behind, she paid attention to what he said, just didn't reply but waited till he spoke.
“Everything alright, I searched the whole place to find you, was getting worried, Love As much as I love sitting here, I’m looking forward to shift switching, so we can get some sleep.”
Her eyes were still glued to the sun as it slowly appeared, it was only a matter of time till it finally appeared and gave the first day of spring. Taken a sip of her coffee she replied softly before taken a puff of her cigarette,
” It's the small things like these that you’ll always have. Even after a night out when I was locked out of my head I’d sit on the balcony just to watch the sunrise. It's a beauty that they can't taint.”
For a second she felt like she was back in Belfast again in her apartment on the balcony. The taught relaxed her, the idea of waking up in a top and shorts. Then freezing her ass off with a coffee and smoke as she on the foldout chair on the balcony
[I[“There are already enough things that can kill you, don’t have to add some extra. Mind sharing some coffee?”[/I]
As she took a sip she handed the coffee to him, with that same hand she held his other hand that was wrapped around her, it felt nice been with someone again and feel more at peace than ever.
” You’d quicker die from a walker these days, so I’m not that worried and plus the packet is half way. I'll keep the rest for unorthodox medical purposes,” she gave a smile as she sat there as she imagined looking over the Irish Sea as the sounds would buzz around her, softly she spoke,” You hear that ! That's the sound the morning ferry leaving for Liverpool and any second now you’ll hear the seagulls given out.” Still she sat there just watching out her imaginary sea view as she continued to speak inbetween puffs of smoke,”What were you like before this? as I still know very little of you.”
Post by Christopher Meade on Apr 6, 2016 22:50:49 GMT -5
Chris felt how her hand gripped is and with his free hand he held the coffee, while listening to her. He chuckled. “That’s a good deal.” He said with a smile, before taking a sip. Chris smiled as he heard Shauna fantasizing about the sea, about a ferry leaving Liverpool, etc… .
Chris joined her and did his best to sound as enthusiastic as she. “Yes love I do, oh I think I just heard the seagulls.” He spoke. “Not my favorite kind of noise, but still nice.” He added with a smile. Then he heard as she asked who he was before all of this.
Chris took a deep sigh as memories came back, it was partly good to being reminded of the good times, but it also hurt, seeing what the word had become, what he had become. Not that he wasn’t proud of how his brother trained him, without that training he would be long dead. He felt the pain, the sadness when thinking about the death of his brother. He just shook his head and tried to clear his mind, so he could answer his girlfriend.
“Well, I was a singer, believe it or not.” He spoke with a smile. “Before that i studied to become a nurse, my parents wanted it that way.” He spoke calmly. “When my father died, I dropped out of school and fully focused on my singing career, since that was the thing I always wanted to do.” He added. “But of course bills needed to be paid, so I tried finding a job as nurse, which I did.” He said pausing to take a sip from the coffee. “Then it went fast, performed at a bar and shortly after I combined performing and my nurse job together.” He spoke.
Then he kissed the back of her neck. “By the way forgive me for letting you do all the nurse work around here.” He said calmly. “I know some things but you seem to know as much if not more about taking care of wounds etc… .” he added. “I know it wasn’t good to not try to help out, but I’m rusty and I think I would probably do more bad then good.” He said with a slight chuckle. “Like I said nursing was just to pay the bills and I didn’t have to do a lot that involved stitching etc… .” He spoke as he softly started to rub her belly, with the arm that was wrapped around her. “I do have a lot of knowledge with medication, since I was mostly doing administration and making the pills ready for the people in the hospital, so if you ever need help there, I’m here.” He spoke with a smile. "But a lot has happened, my brother trained me in hunting, in shooting, in surviving, so i neglected the nurse side" he said pausing and sighing. "And the singer side." he said sounding a little sad.
Then he smield again. “So that’s me, what about you?” he asked before softly kissing the back of her neck again. Then he took a sip from the coffee again and rested his head on her shoulder after.

Her eyes were still glued to the sunrise, gentle she spoke,
” There was a time I use to hate the noise of the gulls but now there a piece of my memories I don't want to lose and when I play that their sound in my head I'm back relaxed on the balcony overlooking the sea at six in the morning. It's my safe place were I can escape this world.”
She took another puff of her cigarette before continuing, she smiled to herself as she quickly realised what Chris deep sigh was from experience, ” That sigh and moment of quietness reveals a lot,” she held her hand out for the coffee that Chris now had,”A memory I'm guessing, someone close or family. That pain of the loss will always be there but talking about their final moments may help. So if you want I'll listen. Don't let the pain of their final moment define them.”
She took the coffee and took a drink. The sun than began to make an appearance, from behind a house the sun gleamed a gold tint across the land and showed a vacant village. She spoke softly as the words rolled slowly off her tongue,
” Back to your question, I was a Med student with my sis, we were training to become doctors. Or we were med student.” As she taught back to home she couldn't help but feel a bit of sadness for the loss of the life she had. But she didn't mind as she knew it would pass once she talked about it,” I’v gone through enough books since the fall and enough were I'm probably more a witch doctor than medical doctor,“ As she took another puff she paused before she continued,” Believe it or not that last night was the third night in a row I was drunk out of head, was having a party for a friends birthday and..” she paused not wanting to say the rest she was about to say. Once again she paused at the life she had, ” I was a different person than, young and just enough money to get drunk out of my head and having the time of my life. You wouldn't of recognized me then, I'd plaster the makeup on me and also the false tan when on a night out, There was a fat chance of getting g a tan in Irish weather, short tops and high heels. I miss high heels, as it gave me height. “ She smiled as she remembered hight heels. Again her mind drifted to what plans she held then for her future and now all she could plan for was to survive the day. ” I don't mind doing doctor, it was the group of US troops took us to America and protected us at first. They loss there doctor and they offered to take us out of Ireland as things went to hell in return to be there doctors.”
Post by Christopher Meade on Apr 10, 2016 18:47:51 GMT -5
Chris smiled as she spoke about how she once hated the sound of seagulls, she explained how it brought back great memories. “It’s beautiful, if you can escape this word inside your own mind.” He spoke calmly. “I do it once in a while too, but different, I just think back about the good memories, you know, about my brother, parents, my life.” He spoke with a little smile.
Chris was glad Shauna just listened, no more questions, just listening to his story. When he was done it was time for him to listen as Shauna explained her life before all of this. He nodded as she said she was a med student. “Figured as much.” He said, before keeping quiet to let her speak. He chuckled as she called herself a witch doctor. “I would trust you with my life any day.” He said with a wink, before giving her a kiss on the cheek. Then he softly rested his head on her shoulder again, while listening.
He heard she how she stopped in the middle of her story and with that knew the next part wasn’t going to be easy to talk about. He just listened and didn’t say anything. She finished the conversation about her past, with telling Chris she didn’t mind being the groups doctor.
“Well I’m glad you don’t mind.” He said with a smile. “And I don’t think too much about bad memories, keep the good ones, delete the bad ones, but more importantly, it’s who you are now what counts, the past is in the past.” He spoke. “And even though I don’t know you for that long, what I do know is that I love you and you are an amazing person.” He added.

Shauna leaned back into Chris arm more as she held the coffee back towards him. Shauna felt the same for Chris as he did for her or so she taught till she gave it more input. Her mind was still trying to figure out if it was love or just passion. Shauna couldn't lie that it was nice been with someone again , but love was a strong word and she wasn't ready to say the word until she was ready. Was this going to be just a short term relationship.
” I feel the same for you,” That was the nearest Chris would get to ‘love you’ from Shauna as he’d get, she had too many one night stands and meaningless relationship with love. Shauna wasn't that once materialistic girl anymore, she worked hard to be where she was mentally and to hang on to her sister. She wasn't going to just drop everything to run after the first guy she taught she loved. ” So what's the plan now Chris? Are we just to wander the land on scraps.
Post by Christopher Meade on Apr 11, 2016 22:57:53 GMT -5
Chris grabbed the coffee after Shauna once more offered it. “Thanks.” He said before taking a sip. He smiled as Shauna said she felt the same for him. “I’m glad, to hear that.” He spoke. They didn’t know each other for that long, but time wasn’t important, Chris immediately felt it was right. He also knew it still had to grow, but he felt confident about their relationship. Normally he wouldn’t be like this, fall in love so easily, but he felt sort of a connection with Shauna, which had to mean something. Besides he didn’t want to think too much about it, cause thinking always gave too many option on what their relationship actually was.
He chuckled as he heard her say his name. “What no nickname, love?” he asked with a smile. Then he reminded their love still had to grow, he felt comfortable around her, but maybe it wasn’t the other way around, she calling him Chris, could mean that her love still had to grow. “Sorry, shouldn’t be so pushy.” He added calmly. Then he sighed as he thought about their next steps. “Well if I could decided on my own, I would just keep moving, but we have a group now, people will need to give their input, we can either keep moving, survive from day to day, or search a steady place and try to build up a live.” He spoke. “What do you want?” he asked as he slowly raised his head from her shoulder.
Post by Shauna Kelly on Apr 12, 2016 15:21:00 GMT -5
Shauna could hardly believe her ears as Chris ask for a nickname. If anything it made her feel like a teenager for a second and Chris a puppy boyfriend. How long had he been single, was the main taught that ran through her head. She was half tempted to ask if he had even ever been to first base and never mind second or third. A grin came upon her face as she taught of Chris like a little lost love puppy. In the end, she just had to slang him about it. ” Not to take the piss, no wait yes I do. You sound like a love sick puppy,” given a little laugh she knew she needed to go easy on him.” Please name me and I love you forever and ever ,” with a light laugh Shauna kept herself under control.”I'm only taking the piss, I'm joking.” She tightened her grip on to his hand if anything but to reinforce that she cared for him and that she was only joking. She took a another puff of her cigarette as she continued to watch the sun brightened the landscape. ”The idea of wandering the land is nice, but not safe long term and in the long term you have to think about survival of winters,” she was lying through her teeth, She disagree wandering fully. “ Food won't be there forever in kitchens or shops. Live food is next to none with the walkers. Kids and families don't belong on the road.” Shauna quickly realised she had just put her foot in it, she hadn't ment them have a family with kids, but she could see that she left herself open as the smile drifted from her face fast. She wasn't even sure if she was even in love with him and she was here planning a future with him. She took another puff of her cigarette.

Chris chuckled as she called him a love sick puppy. He did have to admit that he had been alone for so long and that he was incredible happy with the affection and it felt great hugging Shauna, talking to her, just being around her. His chuckle turned into a loud laugh as she joked some more. He stopped laughing so he could reply. “Fine, fine, I’ll try to control myself.” He spoke with a smile. He felt how she tightened the grip on his hand, which once more gave him a good feeling. He softly rubbed her belly her belly with his thumb, his head still resting on her shoulder.
He listened as Shauna said what she would like to do next. “Well, I have to agree, we have a nice group now, we need a steady place.” He spoke. “If it was just me, I would just keep wandering, but being in this group, being around you changed my mind.” He added.
Then he chuckled. “I feel the puppy coming out again.” He spoke with a big smile. “Because, I want a steady place, so I can protect you, keep you safe.” He added with a smile, before kissing her cheek. “And of course all the others too.” He spoke. “Just want to build something up, try find a home for everyone, you know?” he asked. Then he sighed "Let's hope the others agree." he spoke.

As Chris kissed her cheek, Shauna returned the kiss while also remembering the location her former military team commander was heading for, the only problem was that she knew very little of it and who knew what risks there could be. ”I know a place,”Shauna said as she recollected the place,”[/b] I'm not sure of how many people there are or if anyone is still alive. But my former commander in the team I was with had a comrade there, last time he was on the radio he spoke of them. They were planting crop and they were trying to get electricity.”[/b] She knew it was a risk, but it was one she felt was worth it. ”Now shut up for a minute, let the sun have it's moment.” As she sat back into Chris’s arms she went quiet and felt back in the old world, she just wanted to watch as the sun grew higher to take it’s place and feel human again. As the sun finally gain a better height, Shauna threw her cigarette into the grass below and gave it little taught. Shauna knew the dampness of the grass would put it out, everywhere she looked the grass had taken back land and his friends were slowly destroying everything man had build. The vines with the weeds had lay root in this town, to the point of no return and making the town of little use. ” We need to settle, take control of what technology we can before it goes beyond repair like this town, “ Shauna gave a yawn as tiredness slowly began to hit,” Believe it or not my sister is the one with the ideas, she has it build down to a tee on what we need.”
Post by Christopher Meade on Apr 15, 2016 18:25:19 GMT -5
Chris listened as Shauna spoke about a place she knew, they had crops and electricity. “Sounds good to me.” He replied. Chris was just about to ask more about the place, how to get get there, etc…, as Shauna told him to shut up and enjoy the moment. “Alright, let’s enjoy this.” He said with a chuckle.
It was a beautiful moment, having Shauna in his arms, seeing the sun, it felt amazing. When the sun was higher he watched Shauna throwing her cigarette in the grass, before speaking up. She said they had to take control of the little tech that was left. “You don’t have to convince me, I agree, we need to make sure the others see it that way too.” Chris spoke. “We’ll have to convince them of going to that place.” He added.
He heard how Shauna said Sinéad was the one with the ideas. “Oh no, she’s probably trying to find a plan to get rid of me.” He said with a chuckle. “Only joking of course.” He added with a smile, kissing her again, this time pushing his head a bit more forward, so it could reach her mouth. “So this place, tell me more?” he asked, putting his head in the same position again, on her shoulder.

Shauna bit the top of her lip as she realized that she could no longer hide the subject any further,” My sister is something we need to talk about, Shauna stood up and began to nervously walk the roof. Sitting beside Chris while talking about her sister didn't feel right. She loved her sister more than anything or anyone in the world. Without her was a life she couldn't imagine and one she didn't want to. ” Funny thing, I think my sister could of tried. Well I mean I be surprised if she hadn't already tried. She had tried to make a joke out of it but knew all too well it was one with bad taste.
Slowly she lifted her hand to her forehead in her own way to comfort herself. ” I love my sister and … As she lowered hand she continued her prance around the roof, as she walked she keeps a distance from Chris as if one of them were infected,” She's not well, before the fall she was in therapy and taken medication. She was taken medication for Schizophrenia. She ran out of tab’s a year ago. I’v done my best but over time she just got worse.”

Chris was a bit surprised as Shauna said she wanted to talk about her sister. He watched her get up and walking around while being a little tense. Chris was afraid Shauna thought he wanted to get between them, cause he didn’t, he knew Shauna made clear to her sister to get used to them being together, but he had no clue what the talk would be about and was getting nervous himself. “Alright, let’s talk then.” He spoke but tried to look relaxed and remained sitting.
Chris knew it wasn’t time to be joking or trying to cheer her up, it was a serious talk, so he just listened and didn’t say a word. Chris noticed she was struggling with telling what she wanted to tell. “Hey love, it just me, you can tell me anything, just relax.” He spoke calmly. Then Shauna finally spoke, telling him her sister was not well, she was schizophrenic.
Chris didn’t expect that at all , he stayed quiet as he processed what he just heard. Then he got up and walked over to her, pulling her into a hug. “Hey, it’s all ok, we can both watch her now, take care of her, search for meds.” Chris said trying to comfort her. “Your pain is mine now, your trouble is mine, and so on.” He spoke while softly rubbing her back. He hoped this was the right way to react, he could only do what he thought was best.
He then softly let her go. “How do you know things are worse?” he asked calmly looking in her eyes.
Post by Shauna Kelly on Apr 18, 2016 8:40:24 GMT -5
After looking into his eyes Shauna dropped into his chest feeling with a relief off her shoulder, it had been one of the fears she had been scared of speaking about and she had got a better response than expected. #” You wouldn't believe how much of a relief off my shoulders that is, “ as Shauna began to feel as ease, she suddenly remembered the other fear, softly she spoke ” I also believe she may of kill two of the soldiers in are last group,”taken a breath she continued,” one I believe for lusting over me and the other I have no reason but believe in was. Both with in the last year.”
As she stayed in his arms she could only half wonder if he was next on her list,” I've been in denial I think till I meet you,” her voice began to panic as she began to worry more about Sinead and Chris.” She goes is to swings of violent episode's than she is normally in and aggressive. But when it come to medicine when she clear of mind, she is able to make something out of nothing and ten times better than I ever could be. She is so loving when she has her medication. Since joining you she has gone very quiet and has next to stop talking with me which has me scared.“
Post by Christopher Meade on Apr 20, 2016 17:19:10 GMT -5
Chris felt how Shauna rested her head on his chest, it was as if he could feel how relieved she was and he was glad he could be there to support her. Mere seconds later she proved him right, about the relief, by telling him she was relieved. “No worries, like I said I’ll help you, be there for you.” He said as he once more rubbed her back.
He listened as Shauna explained how Sinéad probably killed two soldiers and also explained the reason why. It was a bit of a surprise to Chris, but he kept strong for Shauna. He kept rubbing her back, hoping she would relax. “Guess we’ll have to keep a very good eye on her, she just needs help, medication and we’ll pull her through.” Chris spoke calmly.
Chris heard how she said she had been in denial until she met him. He let her talk, just get everything off her chest. Once she was done Chris kissed the top of her head. “Don’t be scared, I’ll protect you, I’ll watch my back and we’ll try to make your sister better.” He spoke. “I know she means a lot to you, so we’ll figure it out.” He added.
Post by Shauna Kelly on Apr 23, 2016 6:28:49 GMT -5
Shauna felt more relaxed, but still she be lying to say she wasn't still feeling a bit nervous and lost in side. As she pressed against Chris chest she gazed her eyes back towards the sun as it grew higher. Everyday she hoped by some miracle everything would reset to the way it was before the end. The sun would rise and like evey morning she use to have she be back were she felt most at safe.
As Shauna just let her douth's and fears fade away she spoke again not wanting to have any secrets between them just in case she did call this love. ” The strange thing about this is that Sinead says the same thing about me,” she gave a small laugh as if speaking something funny,” She seems to thing I'm the one with problems and when I talk about the deaths she always changes the subject.”
” Who was it ?” Shauna questioned Chris, all to convinced Sinead could be right in this case of someone close helping him survive after the fall like she did for her.” Who was it you lost, my sister is convinced it was family.“ Shauna be lying to say she knew much still about Chris, but inside she needed to know.
Post by Christopher Meade on Apr 26, 2016 18:18:27 GMT -5
Chris listened as Shauna explained how Sinéad tried to blame her craziness on Shauna, by saying Shauna was crazy. “That’s because she’s in denial, love.” He spoke as he softly rubbed her back again, while kissing the top of her head.
The next thing Shauna said didn’t make sense, she asked who it was. “Who was what?” he asked raising an eyebrow. When she explained what she meant, asking who he had lost, sadness filled his heart and dark memories his head. He thought back of the day he lost his brother, it was as if a movie played and he saw the dead of his brother all over again.
He blinked and was back in the here and now, with Shauna in his arms. He closed his eyes as he felt the sadness. “It was my brother.” He spoke softly as a tear ran down his face, still keeping his eyes closed. Mere seconds later he opened them. “He got bitten during a fight with walkers, we were…..” Chris paused as it was very hard to talk about, the sadness would clearly be hearable in his tone. “We were fighting of a horde when I heard the scream, I saw how a walker bit him, I shot the damn thing and pulled my brother away.” He spoke. “We ran to our car and there he stopped me, he told me to take care of myself and never give up, maybe even try to find our mother.” He said feeling his eyes getting even more watery every second. “We were surrounded, so he wanted to give me the chance to escape, so he stayed behind and fought them off, it wasn’t up for discussion, so he sacrificed…..” Chris paused again. “He sacrificed himself for me, so I could get away.” He spoke. “When I drove off, I saw him dying in the mirror of my car, i was broken.” He spoke.
“Losing him hurt so much, he taught me everything I know about surviving, shooting and much more.” Chris said. “So from that day on, I knew I had to survive, for my brother, he gave me a chance, I will not fuck it up.” He added. Chris hadn’t spoken about it to anyone ever since, but it was only fair his girlfriend knew. “It’s hard to talk about, but you deserve to know, I don’t want secrets between us.” He said as also the tears finally stopped, now only leaving him wet cheeks.
Chris wasn’t a weak guy, but he needed to let it all out, when he lost his brother he cried for a long time and it was only normal that when bringing back memories the emotions would take the upper hand. “So now you know how I kept myself going, meeting you is added to that list though, I mean the list off why I should go on, why I should keep fighting.” He said with a little smile. “I need to keep you safe, I can’t lose anyone close again.” Chris spoke softly. “I know we just met, but I feel good with you, some sort of connection, you know?” he added.

Shauna raised her head and locked her eyes on to his as he spoke about his brother. One word in particular stuck in his head as he spoke and that was A connection. She could only wonder how to reply to that comment. As she taught of a response she gave him a peek on the lips to buy time for an answer,
”I sure he's still watching over your shoulder like my mother is on mine, all we can do is stick to are morals they taught us and with luck maybe we can make them proud of what we become. She knew that feeling of loss all too well,” When the plague hit, Northern Ireland went into a clamp down, the terrorist groups for once had a common enemy with the police force. While the south fell within hours, we in the north went into a period of heavy curfews, tight borders and rationing. When phones went out the last thing I heard from my mother say was that she was going to attempt to reach us.” To this day Shauna still had no idea what had happened to her mother or grandfather She knew well the odds were that they were dead.” We left in search of her with no luck. We kind of gathered they weren't aloud through the border. “ Shauna was happy she got a better understanding of him but now she was unsure where to take it from here. Finally she decided to show some honesty how she felt, even if it was only dancing around the subject. She raised her finger as if talking to a child,” Let's take this slow, we're together and with luck that's not going to change. So let's take short steps, we're in love and no point rushing things. ”

Chris smiled as he heard the sweet reply of Shauna, saying how they were watching and how they could make them proud. “Nicely worded.” He spoke calmly with a little smile. He then listened as she told the story about her mother.
He waiter for her to finish and then spoke. “Never lose hope, there is still a chance she is still alive, it might be a very small chance, but a chance.” He said as he looked at her. “As long as we have hope, we should be fine.” He added.
He nodded as she said she wanted to take it slow, nor rush. “Yeah agreed, there is no rush, we have plenty of time.” Chris spoke with a smile. He was glad she finally said they were in love. “Of course we need to make sure we stay alive, or that plenty time might change to no time.” He added. Then he smiled. “But as promised I’ll do everything in my power to keep you safe.” He said with a wink.
“So since we are sharing, what was your favorite food, you know, before all of this?” Chris asked as he looked at her. “Like you said, we should get to know each other.” He added.
