Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Carlos Lopez was the fourth child out six children. Carlos life was pretty simple until the world went to hell. He worked on a cattle farm for his grandparents along side his siblings. He went to school for a brief period of time, before his family saw fit for him to stop his schooling, and only work full time on the farm. He met a girl named Agnese, who he developed a liking to awfully quick.
Agnese got pregnant and the two marred. It was inevitable that Carlos would get caught in a deadly cartel. The job of making people disappear, was something humans had been doing since the beginning of time. Telling himself this made the work all the easier. He didn't even mind killing children or mothers, because they weren't his own. Eventually, before his daughter Rosa's third birthday, his "job" with the cartel, was putting his own family in extreme danger. The danger caused him, to allow his child, his loving wife, her brother and his family to leave for the land of opportunity. He stayed behind at the farm still working the "two jobs" with very little contact with his loved ones. Always faithful to the idea that he would manage to get himself there as well, someday.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
- Through a pain staking process, a process Carlos would rather not discuss, he made it to the land of opportunity. However, he had no knowledge of his wife and daughters current living arrangements. Thankfully, they had remained in the same apartment since the last letter had been sent three years prior. It was a mix of emotions during the reunion between father, wife and daughter. Rosa now thirteen, despite all her mother stories of Carlos, and a old picture of him, thought of him like a stranger. It hurt him to realize this, but he understood it would take time, he summed it up as teenage rebellion.
This was also the day the world decided to flip up on top of itself. According to Agnese, while she was at work, people were calling in sick. She told Carlos things were looking bad downtown and that he shouldn't let Rosa-Maria leave the apartment, under any circumstances. Thankfully, Agnese had left Spanish subtitles on the TV screen so Carlos could understand what was happening. Rosa asked him what was happening out there and all he could tell her was that they would have to wait and see, the TV news hadn't said. Waiting is exactly what Carlos and Rosa did for a couple of days, until this plague hadn't shown signs of being cured. Rosa had been freaking out since the first night when Agnese had phoned, stating that, she felt safe to drive home, but never made it. On the third morning, to try to calm Rosa, Carlos decided they should venture outside of the apartment complex.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- Carlos spends every waking moment of every day making sure his daughters needs are met, survival wise. When she is sick ,he will try his best to find non-violent means to fix it, but when the chance of death is scratching at her door, he has been known to murder for resources. Never one to tell Rosa, about such actions. The little she knows of his sins the better...
