(OOC: This thread begins almost immediately after the events in "Emptying The Walker's Den") After making their way though Johnson City, knocking down a few more stray walkers, they returned to the Hampton Inn, pulling up to the front of the hotel. As she cut off the engine, she looked over towards Joseph and asked in a tired and equally weary voice, "Well, what are we going to tell the others?"
For several long moments Joseph looked over at Kara, not really knowing what to say; for everything he could think of, nothing had prepared him for the simple inexorable fact that, until they found Seth, he was in charge of Hampton....not acting leader, not interim leader. No, he thought, I'm in charge. Time to start acting like it.
"We tell them what happened, Kara," Joseph said quietly, using his experiences as a doctor whenever he had to tell someone some bit of bad news as a guide. "We tell them what happened..." Blowing out a long breath, he added, "Go ahead and park the truck and meet me inside; I'm going to go find Dean and tell him we couldn't find Nick; he'll probably want to try and kick my ass over not having found Nick but I'll manage. Meanwhile, round up the others and we'll talk in one of the conference rooms, okay?" Climbing out of the truck, he watched for a moment as Kara began moving the F250 around before turning and walking inside the hotel, a heavy heart weighing him down as he entered, thinking, God, grant us the solace and strength to get through these dark times....

Sisa was a Christian women. Catholic by major definition but she was raised in a highland village near Cuzco. A city entrenched with history of her ancestors that mixed with those brought by foreigners in the past. Since she was a wee little peasant girl she had been filled with stories of myth and legends that only native tongued speakers would hear. Now she stood against a wall rocking the nine month in her arms. Trying to smile as the infant girl reached for a loose spot on her shirt cooing. Over the course of her time in this apocalypse she had evolved in many aspects. Zack.. The man she adored and often times was annoyed with had unmistakably let Sisa trust a different type of people then the ones who raised her. Not all Yuraq's were greedy and cruel or the boogie men like pishtacos that had once haunted the raven haired women's dreams as a child. Dean and Nick confused her because the lack of compatibility based on what the bible said and nature but.. They inspired her to be a better lover and friend to Zack. Those two made the South American a little envious sometimes in the aspect of relationships, which is why they were assigned the rule of godparents. It only made sense, Nick was the only other she knew that was Catholic and the only other person she knew that was married in someway or other. Speaking of marriage.. Those two might deserve that right more then she and Zack. Hell all they did was get frisky in a cabin and made love out of a mistake. Those two.. They were the embodiment of love and it brought a smile to her tan face from time to time.
"Inti.. Though I'm just a meek women and I should be asking from your wife Pachamama. This isn't about crops such as are last talk. I need you to protect a nonbeliever.." Sisa began mumbling the prayer. Tears beginning to welt up before rolling down her cheeks. Holding Koya a little closer to herself as she continued walking the hotel. "A friend named Nick. He.. He risked his own life to protect us.. And I need his save voyage back. Dean needs him oh benevolent Inti." Fighting back tears brought in by guilt. Sisa made the sign of the cross before blowing away the prayer as if the wind would take it to the heavens. Some customs never died. The young mother carried Koya a little closer now as she went to the main room where it seemed everyone entered. Hoping to see Nickiah again safe and sound.

After staying outside, just sitting there, Dean went inside, waiting for the arrival of Joseph. When he heard the car he rushed to the doors and went out searching for Joseph. He looked around, ran right, then left, before finally seeing Jospeh. He felt sadness within when he didn’t see Nick by his side, but then again the blonde girl, Kara was it? She wasn’t there either or Seth.
He quickly rushed over to him and placed both his hand on Jospeh his shoulders, looking him in the eyes. “Where are the others?” he asked with a desperate look in his eyes. "Nick, Kara, Seth?” he added. “Please tell you found him Jospeh, where is he, where is my Nick?” he asked trying to fight his tears, but losing the fight big time, slowly gripping the shoulders of the man tighter and tighter.

As Kara went around the hotel to get the others, Joseph walked inside and began looking for Dean, dreading the news he was about to tell him. He'd just gone a little ways in when he heard some noise back outside the hotel; walking outside, he ran smack into Dean, who had the frightened look of someone who'd just been given bad news....
He quickly rushed over to him and placed both his hand on Joseph his shoulders, looking him in the eyes. “Where are the others?” he asked with a desperate look in his eyes. "Nick, Kara, Seth?” he added. “Please tell you found him Joseph, where is he, where is my Nick?” he asked trying to fight his tears, but losing the fight big time, slowly gripping the shoulders of the man tighter and tighter.
After gathering his thoughts, Joseph looked Dean square in the eye....no sense beating around the bush, he thought. "Kara's alright; she's going around, getting the others in the hotel over to the conference room to talk," he began. "That's the good news....
"The bad news: we couldn't find either Seth or Nick, Dean; I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," Joseph said, fighting the pain from Dean holding onto his shoulders like a drowning man would a life raft. "Kara and I searched everywhere - up and down the highways out of Johnson City, every street, alleyway, nook, crevice...everywhere, Dean, everywhere. We couldn't find them," adding, "but I want you to know this, Dean: we....will.....find.....them. Both of them! We will find them, Dean; you have my word on it," Joseph said, hoping that the gravity of his words would calm the younger man down.

Dean listened as Joseph talked about Kara, she was fine, which gave him hope Nick was with her, also doing fine. But then he heard Jo telling him there was bad news too. “No, don’t.” he said losing more tears. Joseph told him, they didn’t find Seth or Nick and that they looked everywhere, it hurt so much, the news was like a punch right on the heart. He shook his head and tightened his grip on Jo his shoulders once more, before slowly falling on his knees, nearly pulling Jo with him, but slowly letting go of him, making sure he could stay on his feet.
Sadness was his first feeling, but it made room for his anger. “He should have listened!” he yelled as he crawled from the floor, while more tears ran down his face. “I would have kept him safe and both you and Kara should have tried harder dammit!” He added. Then he turned around, and smacked his fist into the wall, which caused the flesh around his knuckles to bust open, as slowly the blood appeared. The anger stopped again and the sadness return, Dean leaned his arm against the wall resting his head on it as he kept crying. “I would have kept him safe.” He said once more in between sobs.“
Then the thoughts returned, together with more tears. Where was Nick? Was he hurt? Was he in pain? Was he fine? What the hell happened? All these things ran through Dean his mind, meanwhile he vaguely heard Joseph promise him they would find them, he gave him his word. Dean turned around and looked at him with his watery eyes, who were also filled with desperation. “We have to find him Jo, we have to.” He said as the tears kept coming. “I don’t know how to go on without him.” He added.

Cradling Sisa in her arms as her emotions came out. Trying to keep them to a minimal so not to make Koya fussy. Then all the sudden she felt a gentle hand against her cheek making those dark almond eyes open up to see who it was. Zack, the father of her child and main source of her blanket theivery of the night. Now he stood before her giving a comforting smile as he opens his fit arms for her to step closer. Pressing her face to rest against his chest letting the tears drip all over his shirt. Keeping some distance so the growing infant had room in between them. "It's all my fault Zack. If I hadn't been stupid.. I should of never volunteered. Then maybe.." Choking up the words mingling with her thick accent. Even she knew that what she was saying wouldn't make sense to him unless a few words counted.
Body language however spoke louder then the weeping women. Zack told her that it wasn't her fault and even though it brought momentary satisfaction it wouldn't fix the wound guilt shot through her. Slowly her head leaned against her lovers side as Zack guided his wife to where the others might be at. Hoping that they would have better news for Sisa's sake. Giving a small little smile toward their daughter who's small hands gripped his thumb making him wince. "Daughter like mother.." He whispered reminding the two of how much strength a birthing women could have off of medicine. It made a smile only for a moment. Silence fell on the two as they rounded a corner seeing Joseph and Nick.

For what seemed like forever, Joseph just stood and let Dean unload all his anger, unload his fears and pain right down on him, like someone had opened up a spillway on a dam. He just stood there, ignoring the continued pain in his shoulders from Dean gripping them as hard as he was....then, all of a sudden, Dean turned and slammed his fist squarely into the wall, causing Joseph to visibly wince and think, I told him the truth of what happened out there, what was I supposed to do?
Then Joseph saw Dean turn back around and look him once more right square in the eye....
Dean turned around and looked at him with his watery eyes, who were also filled with desperation. “We have to find him Jo, we have to.” He said as the tears kept coming. “I don’t know how to go on without him.” He added.
"Hey, hey, hey, hey," Joseph replied, putting a comforting hand on Dean's shoulder, "we'll find him, Dean...we'll find Nick; you have my word on that. We'll also find Seth as well; you have my word on that also. Wherever they are, we...will....find them!" His words were both comfortable but tinged with a layer of ice that seemed to suggest in an unspoken tone, "God help whoever has them....God help them indeed."

Jospeh his words brought Dean comfort and hope, but it was just a very slight sparkle, but it was all he had for now. Dean also felt how Jo placed a hand on his shoulder, even that felt great, all Dean needed was support. “I….i know…” Dean spoke before pausing to whip off some tears. “I know we will find them, it’s just so unbearable, to not know where he is, what he’s feeling, this insecurity drives me insane.” He said closing his eyes clearly in pain, from all the sadness he felt, it was as if they where pinching in his heart, every few seconds.
“But I believe you, we will find both of them.” He spoke opening his eyes looking at Jospeh. “But if someone is messing with them, I’ll swear to god I’ll kill them or I will die trying.” He said with a face full of anger. “Of course they can just be lost or trying to get rid of a horde, like I said insecurity.” He added looking down, letting go of the anger and once more embracing the sadness. All he wanted was to keep crying, but he had been ever since he lost Nick and now it felt like he had no more tears left, even though he was extremely sad, afraid and a bunch of other things.
He felt blood dripping from his hand, but he didn’t even care. “Jo, do I need to be there, I mean in the conference room, I can’t handle anymore drama and I think I want to be alone, try to get some sleep, probably won’t, but I just don’t feel like talking to people.” He spoke in a sad tone.

Seeing how grief-stricken Dean was, there was no way on God's green Earth that Joseph was going to make him re-hash everything that'd happened thus far today. "Alright, you go on and rest, Dean," he said quietly, adding, "meanwhile, I'm gonna' talk to everyone else, tell them what happened and where we go from here." Before he headed off to the conference room, he added in a comforting, donctorly tone, "If you need to talk, Dean, the door's always open, okay?

Dean was glad when Joseph agreed on skipping the meeting. “Thanks Joseph.” He replied softly still with sadness in his tone. Dean then slowly started to walk away as he heard Jo say something else. He told Dean he could always talk to him, that the door was open.
Without saying anything Dean walked closer and gave Joseph a quick hug, not in the way he cuddled with Nick, but trying a sort of one arm straight-ish hug. “Thanks means a lot, I’m sure I’ll make use of that offer.” He spoke softly before letting go. Then he turned around and headed to his room.

Zack coughed to get at least one of the twos attention while Sisa's almond eyeshadow tears forming again. "What do you mean he isn't back!" Hand shaking as she sped up Zack and her's walk toward Joseoh and Dean. By this time the tall blond had taken Koya who was getting fussier. Normally the raven haired women would of began to rock her child gently or even sat down to nurse but such things couldn't be done. Not when Sisa was crying like this as she stood in front of Joseph now. Blocking his way to the conference room with her guilt ridden form. "No your wrong please tell me you found him" Her accent didn't make her speech any better. Zackary looked from behind the crying mother giving a look that begged for a better answer at least for Sisa.

Before Joseph could gather his thoughts and tell everyone else what was going, he was confronted by Sisa, who - judging by her own grieg-stricken appearance - had heard him deliver the bad news about Nick- and Seth, he thought - to Dean minutes earlier...
Zack coughed to get at least one of the twos attention while Sisa's almond eyeshadow tears forming again. "What do you mean he isn't back!" Hand shaking as she sped up Zack and her's walk toward Joseph and Dean. By this time the tall blond had taken Koya who was getting fussier. Normally the raven haired women would of began to rock her child gently or even sat down to nurse but such things couldn't be done. "No your wrong please tell me you found him" Her accent didn't make her speech any better. Zackary looked from behind the crying mother giving a look that begged for a better answer at least for Sisa.
"I wish....I wish I could be wrong there, Sisa," Joseph said, feeling about as grief-stricken as Sisa felt, "but we - Kara and I," pointing towards Kara, who'd walked back to join the rest of them - "searched everywhere for Nick: every road, every street, every alleyway...everywhere, Sisa...and we couldn't find him," his voice choking up for a moment. "We're gonna find him, though, Sisa; I don't care what it takes, I don't care if I have to even lay down my own life to do it.....we will find him!"
"Joseph's right, Sisa," Kara said, having finally found her voice after listening to their back-and-forth, "we are going to find them! And we searched everywhere out there; you've got to believe him when he says did....there wasn't a place out there, a road, holler, crag, nowhere that we didn't search," speaking with the same tone of voice from her days as a sheriff's deputy back across the mountain in North Carolina. "Now, you can choose not to believe us on that, Sisa, that's your choice," she added, "but - and I admit, as the newest one here, its' a little hard for me to adjust to everything here - but if that man," pointing over towards Joseph, "says that we'll find them, we'll find them. I believe him...maybe the rest of y'all should too." It was a helluva marker for Kara to lay down but it was one that needed to be laid down, for all their sakes.

She couldn't halt the tears from rolling down her cheeks. Lip quivering as the two of them spoke to her. She knew they had been looking for Nick and Seth but that wasn't good enough. She wanted this guilt gone and she hated the idea of having caused her friend ham. "I don't fucking know you! So please mind your own" Her hands turned into balled fist after pointing toward this women Kara that she hadn't met before.
Why was she here and where did she come from? Sisa would have to ask later when she had the time.
For now she was focused on Joseph for the task at hand, finding Nick and Seth. Barely listening to what was being said before the words Joseph dead. "Joseph if you die and Koya gets sick you will have more then the devil after you!" She wiped her tears. Even thiugh she was greatly upset it helped for a moment.. A moment.

"Kara, stay out of this," Joseph said, his temper slowly start to boil. Taking a few moments to let the anger subside, he then turned his focus back towards Sisa, who once again had made a valuable point, that being how valuable Joseph was to the group as a whole. "In a sense, ladies," pointing over towards both of them, "you're both correct. Kara' right, Sisa; we searched everything for Nick and we will find them. You know that and I know that. And Kara, Sisa's right about two things: one, you're still the new one here - no disrespect there - and Sisa was right to say what she did. She's also right; as the group's resident doctor, I've got to continue looking out for all of us here; how can I do that if I die out there?" It sounded lame but it was the honest truth.
Running a hand through his hair, he blew out a long breath and added, "Now, before any of us lose our collective minds here, we need to figure out where they're at, who might have them and how do we get them back?" Looking right at each person standing around, Joseph said, "Any suggestions?"

Sisa tried to calm herself down enough to think clearly. She looked over at the other women and basing in appearance she assumed Kara didn't know English. Of course that assumption had be faltered by Joseph when he came out as pretty damn good in the language. It prevented from Sisa talking shit about the group in front of them.. That would of been pregnant and irritated Sisa. Not the mother Sisa who wanted only the nest for her child.
She turned her head to look at Joseph. Shaking her head slowly after motioning toward Kara. "José I puede ser que algunas mujeres ignorantes de un pueblo de montaña , pero sé una cosa . su amigo que son extrañamente conveniente que aquí suceda a aparecer cuando son personas desaparecen." Both hands were crossed over her chest. The raven haired women didn't want to start a witch hunt but they had to evaluate all the possibilities. Hopefully her accusation was wrong but if she wasn't then it would be one more step toward helping find Nick and Seth
Post by Joseph MacMillan on Mar 30, 2016 21:39:29 GMT -5
For a few seconds, it all Joseph could do not to ballistic with anger over Sisa's allegation that Kara was to blame for Nick and Seth's disappearances; try as he could, though, he failed. "Sierra la boca!" he whispered silently, repeating it a second time in a voice loud enough for even the great Mormon prophet Brigham Young to look askance, were Young still living among them. "Usted no estaba en la comisaría cuando Dean y Seth y yo encontramos Kara y si no hubiera sido por la intervención de Dean y Seth , lo haría probablemente ha metido una bala en su," he began, his Spanish clear, the red mist fully evident in his voice as he pointed towards Kara to emphasize the point. He continued on. "Ahora bien, en caso de que no lo he dicho suficientes veces hoy ... Se realizaron búsquedas en todas partes : cada edificio , cada dependencia, cada vehículo abandonado por ahí ... hemos buscado por todas partes!"
By now, it was all Joseph could do not to insult Sisa even further, but he knew the sound of a witch hunt and he wanted to nip that in the bud now, before it had a chance to fester. "Y no podíamos encontrarlos! " Pausing to rub the bridge of his nose, he used the moment to wipe a few tears from his face as he went on. "Ahora, sé lo que estás pensando, Sisa: Kara podría estar trabajando en secreto para alguien , alguien que podría haber agarrado a Nick? Bueno, si hay una cosa que he aprendido acerca de ser un médico , su " ser capaz de leer a la gente ... y mientras Kara y yo estábamos por ahí hoy en día, lo que puedo decir sin ninguna duda que confío en ella . Sé Dean confía en ella y si Seth estuviera aquí con nosotros , él diría lo mismo . "
Taking several long, deep breaths, Joseph calmed down enough to add a few more words, this time switching back over from Spanish to English. "Now," pointing over Kara, "I trust her, Dean trusts her, Seth - if he were here - would say likewise. I would hope the rest of you do likewise, because at first light tomorrow, we're going out to find Nick and we're not returning until we either find Nick alive or until we find his body so that we can give him a proper burial...and also so that we can relieve the strain and grief that Dean's going through right now.
"Now, if you'll excuse me," he concluded, "I've got to figure out where the hell Nick could be so that we can figure out where he is so that we can go get him" Without waiting for anyone to respond, Joseph walked out of the room and began working, in his mind at least, on plans to go out there and find Nick, no matter where he was...or no matter the consequence.
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
