Keira unloaded her supplies into the truck, keeping only her weapons on her. She didn't know how she was going to catch this chicken yet, but she had to at least try. Omar decided to stay back, and she decided that it was for the best. It was too dangerous to take Roland around out here, and she trusted Omar to take care of him. Had she not convinced him otherwise, he would have killed her upon their first meeting. He was more than capable.
Roland sat in the backseat of the car, and he smiled as Keira gave him a kiss on the forehead and told him that she loved him. His smile slowly faded as she vanished into the treeline, but before he had a chance to start crying, Omar asked him a question about superheroes. He paused and seemed to think on it, not having so much of a concept on beauty and more of an idea on just who he liked more. After a moment's thought, he replied, "Cat Woman."
For Keira, sweet antics were the last thing on her mind. She wanted to catch this chicken, even if it was a poor idea. Realistically, she didn't know where she would store it, and it was dangerous to keep it in the backseat. She decided that she would deal with it when she caught it. She crept along the treeline, a hunter, and tried to stay as quiet as possible while dividing her focus between the hunt and her own safety. The little chicken tried to peck insects from the ground, and it meandered aimlessly through the foliage. Keira followed after it, keeping her distance as she tried to trail it to a place where she could trap it. She still had no idea what to do.
But perhaps she could make it work after all. She followed the chicken for a good few minutes before she stumbled upon an old farmhouse. She had been here before, had already looted it. What it was doing wandering around here was beyond her, but it gave her an idea. She had already taken all of the food and supplies on one of her runs, but she hadn't touched the cages. Why would she? She had no prior use for them. But now, she needed it. Perhaps this was a blessing in disguise.
She opened up the barn door and looked inside for walkers. Finding none, she set the cage up and chased the chicken. It flapped and tried to run and fly away from her, and after a few long minutes, she managed to shepherd it into the barn and, ultimately, into the cage. On the way back to the car, it clucked and cried. Keira stopped and took out the walkers that appeared to investigate the noise with a swift hit from the butt of her gun or the slice of her blade. Once she arrived back at the car, she packed the chicken's cage into the backseat, making sure that it was secure.
Roland stuck closer to the door, a little scared, and Keira climbed into the driver's seat. She locked all of their doors, and together, the group hit the road and drove back towards the Hive. At first, she was quiet. Her eyes glanced up at the rear view mirror, gazing at her lost home as she drove farther and farther away. But this was for the best, and she knew it. She smiled and glanced to Omar, her voice soft. "I spy, with my little eye, something that is red."
