Charles had expected more from Arden after being confronted with the question whether he was able to fight or not, but the girl Amarie stepped in between them and somehow calmed the situation down. He was glad she did, though it made him wonder what sort of relationship the two had, intrigued by the comment she made about her shooting skills. Being given more information about the area and how to proceed with the attack felt reassuring, however upon spotting a stranger outside the window Charles feared their effort of planning had been all in vain. Quick to react he went to deal with the situation, only then to re-enter the kitchen holding the stranger at gunpoint. He turned to face the others for a response, surprised to have Arden backing him up.
When Skylar came downstairs to witness the commotion that was going on, she immediately drew her gun and aimed at Charles, demanding him to let the man go. It was a brave move, though not very clever. It was definitely something he would remember; although when asked why she was doing what she did, she simply replied saying it was the father to her child. Left speechless, Charles lot to man go free, and he watched as he went over to hug her, but there was no returning hug, she didn`t feel the same way anymore and it made everyone wonder, what the hell was going on?
With all prying eyes on them, she motioned for him to follow her upstairs, to somewhere more private. Once gone, the others were left to continue on their business. Charles holstered his gun and listened to what else was being suggested; agreeing with Remy in the end. As she went with Shaun to make the distraction with the car and go in from behind the house, the others agreed to use the wooden fence on the left as cover to ambush the enemy. Together they would move in as a unit, taking out any opposing target in sight.
“I`d say that`s a good as plan as any, let`s do this.” Charles said to Arden and Amarie, leaving them alone for a moment to prepare. Little did they all know that Charles had a plan of his own. “Tobias, I trust the men are ready for what`s about to happen?” He asked walking up to his old friend, laying a hand on his shoulder. “By the way, I have a favour to ask. I need you to stick to the plan as we`ve agreed, but, I ain`t coming with you.” Charles began and continued to whisper, giving the full plan without revealing it to any other. With that done, his attention went to his sister who was still upset about what had happened.
Seeing her sit alone, he carefully approached, kneeling down in front of her as he tried to make eye contact, reaching out in hope of touching her hand. “Susan…its time.” He spoke in a low voice, not entirely sure if she was willing to listen. “I…I think its best if you stay here, with the others. Someone got to the guard the house, and well…to be honest, I don`t trust them, therefore I need you to keep an eye on things here. Can you do that for me?...” Charles asked, trying to give her a reason why he wanted her to stay, even though the true reason was that he didn`t want her to be out there fighting. She was too unstable as it was, and he had to focus, he couldn`t do that if she was with him.
When no answer was given, he with a sad expression said. “I love you dear sister, please…be safe.” He wanted to say something else and give her a hug before he left, but it was all he could muster, knowing she wasn`t willing to forgive him. Charles felt somewhat guilty about taking her away from Hannah in need, but it was for the best, it was either that or see her suffer a worse fate. He had already lost to much, and he`d be damned if he let something happen to his sister also.
Without another word, Charles left the building alongside everyone else who sought to help retake Arden`s home and get rid of Knox`s gang once and for all. It was now or never, the dice had been cast. Equipped with the machete, pistol, knife and shotgun, Charles led the group down to the left of the estate, alongside the fence. Halfway through he stopped and allowed everyone else to pass in front of him, with the intention of sneaking away from the group. Tobias was set to lead the charge, alongside Arden who no doubt wanted to call the shots.
With the truck coming in hot with a crash and burn, creating a distraction worthy a fine spectacle, the first part of the plan was set in motion. Knox called his men out to the front in an instant, fearing the worst, but what he found was nothing less than a truck on fire. Confused by what he saw he ordered his men to wait and be ready. It was then the others turn, with the fence used as cover, Tobias and the men started shooting at the enemy from the side, killing as many they could before any found spots to hide.
As panic hit the men and chaos ensued, the unthinkable happened. With the sound of a horse screeching and hooves trampling, a horse came leaping over the blockade of vehicles set in the driveway and on top was Charles. With the shotgun aimed at the nearest enemy, he fired at one man`s chest, then shot another in the back who tried to flee. Glancing over the scene, Charles tried to find Knox. When spotted, the two glared at each other and a smile appeared on Charles`s face. “Knox!! Remember me?!” Rearing the horse, he galloped forward, heading straight at him. He jumped off the horse and tackled him, not caring whether it got him killed, all that mattered was revenge.
