Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Sean was the firstborn, regular parents, not fancy but not poor either. He got much love, one year later his sister was born and another year later his brother. Years passed and everything was normal, school, parents job, etc…. Until one day….It was a rainy evening, Sean his dad just got home from work when the doorbell could be heard through the house. Sean his father opened the door and a gunshot was heard, his mother ran to the door and the second gunshot was heard. Sean heard the screams everything, he was upstairs and peeked in the hallway, only to see a lot of blood and his parents dead.
Sean was in shock, but he was a smart kid, as tears ran down his face, he rushed as fast as he could to the phone upstairs and called 911 as quiet as he could. Downstairs he heard glass break, heard furniture falling. He could only figure, they were after money. He ran to the bedrooms of his brother and sister, both told them to be quiet and hid them. They waited and just as he heard someone coming upstairs, he heard the police sirens. He waited and when he thought it was safe, he got out of hiding and ran down. There he saw the killer, he was wearing a clowns mask, Sean would never forget that creep, he watched how the cops, cuffed him and escorted him to the car. Then some moments later he watched how the carried two black bags outside, he knew his parents were dead. The kids were brought to the police office and couple days later to an orphanage, one of the few that were still left, it was their only option since there wasn’t any close family left.
Lucky for Sean his brother and sister they didn’t see a thing, he had a bit of a trauma and got some sessions with a psychiatrist, which helped him to get his life back on track. years passed until finally a man and a women adopted all three of them, Sean insisted they wouldn’t be separated and because they had such a traumatized past, the orphanage agreed. At first it was all a bit weird, no one could make up for their parents, but these sweet came as close as possible. Sean was twelve now and life went on, they got everything they needed, all the love, etc…. OF course Sean still had his trauma for clowns, so circus and other things that involved clowns were off limits. But the foster parents were really kind and helped Sean the best they could.
When Sean turned 18 it was time for college, even though Sean loved his brother, sister and foster parents, he decided to rent an apartment close to school and search a roommate to split the costs. He would visit them once during the week and stay with them the weekends. His foster parents agreed, even though he would be missed.
On his first day of school it was all a bit strange, new people, no friends, way out of his comfort zone. When walking from one class to another he bumped into a guy name Jonah, he seemed as lost as Sean, which sort of gave them a connection. Sean didn’t wait a minute and asked him, if he wanted to talk later. He then explained that Jonah could come over to his apartment, since he didn’t have to ask his roommate if that was ok, cause he didn’t found one yet. Jonah then told him he was looking for a room, from there everything happened fast and a week later they lived together.
Life was good, school was great now that he met Jonah, weeks passed and they became really close. Jonah was the best friend he ever had. He even invited him to meet his foster parents, sister and brother. Meanwhile he dated some girls, but nothing stratified his unanswered feelings. Sean had no idea what was going on. He was pretty hot and could get every girl in collage, but nothing seemed to be good enough. He then decided to take a break from dating, and focus on his friendship. Seems Jonah was thinking the same way, he couldn’t find a decent girlfriend either. Sean many times joked about them hooking up, always joking. But deep down, buried away, he always wondered if he should experiment with a guy.
Years passed and their feelings grew stronger, they became even greater friends, supporting each other, laughing together, etc… . At the age of 22 Sean dropped out when he found a job at a smoothie bar, which he liked and decided to finish that year of school and then work there. He kept the apartment and still shared it with Jonah. Since they were both working now, they always met for lunch and even went out during the free evenings. But neither of them found a suitable partner or one night stand and they always ended up, coming back home alone, just the two of them.In his spare time he was a stripper in bars, Jonah knew, Sean his family didn’t. He didn’t do it for the money, but because he liked the attention, the money was just a nice extra. Of course he never slept with customers, he would dance/strip and then go home. The money he got from it, was used for his tattoos and presents for his family and Jonah.
That same year on Sean his birthday, he asked a week off, cause Jonah his birthday was the next day. He took care of everything and even made a few calls so that Jonah would also get the week off, without him knowing of course. As surprise he planned a trip to San Francisco, just some time to relax, a best friend moment, is what he called it.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
Jonah was thrilled with the surprise and after stopped by Sean his parents, brother and sister, they were off to San Francisco. That’s they day when everything changed. They arrived at the hotel, Sean made sure to have separate rooms, he wouldn’t mind sleeping next to his buddy, but he liked his space. He was still on his own, unpacking his bags in the hotel room, when he heard the chaos on the street. When looking out of the window, he saw people running, someone on the floor that looked hurt, crawled further, but was bitten by someone else next to her. Sean couldn’t believe his eyes. All of the sudden he heard a gunshot, the events of his childhood came back. The dead of his parents, the shots, the mask, everything. He stepped away from the window, fell to his knees and crawled in a corner.
He was so scared, close to even hyperventilating. He then heard a knock on the door and feared it was the man, the man with the clown mask. He heard the door open and with big eyes he looked up, he sighed as he noticed it was Jonah. He immediately asked Sean what was wrong and he shared the whole story. It was strange he never told Jonah, but it was hard to talk about. That night, the spend at the hotel, in the same bed, since Sean was so scared. Still neither of them had a clue what was happening outside, since the hotel locked their doors, when the chaos happened.
That morning they woke up and the streets were deserted, some placed were burning and it was strange to see these things. After getting changed from pajamas to clothes, they packed their stuff, since Sean wanted to go back home, check on his foster parents and sister. Jonah, knew how important they were and agreed. The hotel seemed to be deserted too and the people that were left, were in panic. Sean had to know what was going on, he finally stopped someone and asked an explanation. The guy told him a about the dead that came back to life and only a headshot could kill them. Neither Sean or Jonah could believe it was true, until they met a walker at the entrance of the hotel. They both ran back inside, but the creature followed, Sean pulled a samurai sword from the wall, it was a decoration, but at the same time a real sword. He rushed foreward and chopped of the head, because of his troubled past, he wouldn’t hold back to kill someone that is threatening his own life, or that of his friends.
He kept the sword and they went on their way, both still a bit shaken from what just happened. The guy at the hotel told them to search for weapons, food and water. So as they tried to find a way back to Sean his parents they stopped at deserted shops and took what they could. Sean found a handgun with scope in one and a lot of ammo. He never had to use a gun, so he was scared and put it in his backpack. He also found a poke, which was used to slam the shop window, he took that and then they left. Since it was pretty early in the apocalypse, they also found some canned food, water and medication in other shops.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
Weeks passed and Sean slowly had to admit, he was never getting back to his parents. Thank god he still had Jonah, the poor guy had to drag him through this new shit world. Sean couldn’t get over the loss of his family. But a year later the cards were different, Sean had became strong, he trained his shooting and was pretty good with his sword. But there wasn’t a day that passed without him looking at the picture from his family, he would never give up hope.
Plus there was something else that made him feel guilty, in that year, at the start of the apocalypse, they were taken by a group, they wanted to make slaves from them. Sean always had a big mouth and because of that he pissed the boss off, since he wanted to go to his family, so he didn’t want to stay. What happened then was horrific, the guy cut off Jonah his tongue as his punishment. Sean was once more traumatized and he felt horrible. After taking Jonah in his arms and crying over him, they pulled him away, to take care of the ‘wound’. Sean was alone in some sort of cell, waiting, hoping Jonah was ok. He couldn’t stop crying.
Some days later they were finally reunited, it seemed Jonah forgave him, but he still felt guilty. To make up Sean planned their escape and they succeeded. He killed some guys while escaping, but he didn’t feel sorry for them, he saw it as revenge for Jonah.
Now another year later the two are still together, trying to build a settlement, a safe haven for survivors, safe from people like that asshole that cuts Jonah his tongue. Still Sean feels guilty and still he misses his family, but he stayed strong.
