Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse: Originally born in the Fulham neighborhood of London, England, Alexandra and her parents were on vacation in the U.S. when they were involved in a car crash; while Alexandra lived, her parents didn't and her relatives in Southern California adopted her. Growing up within sight of the Pacific, she was a surfer girl, taking every chance she could to head down to the beach and surf the waves at every opportunity. After graduating high school, she decided to enlist in the Army as a way to help pay for future schooling; during her time in service, she was deployed to the Khost region of Afghanistan with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, when she later earned a Bronze Star for her actions during a Taliban ambush in the nearby Khost Hills. After leaving the Army in 2009, she returned to L.A. and joined the L.A. County Fire Department as an EMT, working in the South L.A. region, specifically Station 57 at South Gate, Ca.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?: Like most public safety personnel in the region, Outbreak Day began like most of the days prior - long shifts of terror having to deal with a steadily falling-apart society. On Outbreak Day, her ambulance crew was called out to assist medical personnel at MLK-Drew when the decision was made to abandon the hospital; once that happened, Alex and her ambulance crew made her way as best they could over to the nearby 77th Street station, where like everyone else there, they holed up and waited out the growing catastrophe.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse: Over the months that followed, surviving LACFD ambulance crews, hearing the radio transmissions from Alex's ambulance crew, made their way to the station, forming the core of what eventually became the station's Medical Center; at present, Alexandra is the senior medic and guards her fellow medics like a mother hen, training them as best as possible, while also trying to keep her wits about her as they try to rebuild some semblance of civilization in the urban wasteland of L.A.
