Rounding the corner onto Grand Concourse, Daniel saw the other Tundra ahead, parked at an angle in front of a large but low-slung South Bronx brownstone, with everyone piled behind the truck, looking towards one of the brownstones. It wasn't hard, either, to figure out which brownstone they were looking at either - one of them had lots of thick smoke coming out from it, accentuated by the occasional flash of whitish and orangey-yellow flames coming from the building. Tegan had to do it, Daniel grimaced, she just had to fire her smokey-flame special at the building, didn't she? referring to the combination of tear gas and white phosphorous that made the aforementioned special.
As the Tundra slid to a stop near the other vehicle, Daniel bounded out, trying hard to hide his anger at his colleague's rashness, thinking in his mind, I'll talk to her about it when we get back to Rikers. Dashing over, he knelt down behind the other Tundra and asked laconically, "I see you found whoever it was you saw earlier, Tegan."
"Yeah, I did," she replied, only to be cut off by Daniel as he added, "I said flush them out from wherever they were, not burn them out!" ducking as a window shattered in the building. Looking up for a moment, he saw someone frantically waving behind a gated entry. Getting up, he said, I'm gonna' run over and see if I can get to them; wait here....and Tegan? Whatever you do, don't go firing any more specials' into the building, okay?" The sarcasm could be seen - and felt - in his words as Daniel began to sprint over to the entry, hoping to spring at least one person free from whatever they were behind.
