Richard made his way back to the cabin after having gone hunting with his brother earlier that morning, unfortunately he returned alone and with no catch. The woods were empty of wildlife; no doubt the walkers had either scared them off or eaten them. It was only going to get tougher from now on and how they were going to survive was beyond him, they didn`t have that much food left, perhaps only for two or three days more. Aiden had offered to steal from a group of strangers nearby, but he couldn`t allow that, despite how necessary it was. Either way, he might need to sooner or later. His son had to eat; no way would he let him starve.
Looking up, Richard could see dark clouds were gathering in the horizon and the sunlight was slowly disappearing behind them. It wouldn`t be long now before it started to rain, hopefully he would get to cover before then. He had to speak with Aurora about what to do next, they needed a plan. For months now they had roamed the area from place to place, trying to survive. It would be best if they had someplace safe to settle down, and with winter on its way they had to decide whether to go north or south.
Stepping out into the clearing where the cabin stood on top of a hill, Richard got surprised to see his son Sean running over to greet him. He kneeled down; reaching out his arms to hug the lad and in each other they found comfort. It was obvious he was missed, the boy was always afraid that something would happen once he left, even though Aurora was there to watch over him. “I`m so glad you`re back dad! But…where is uncle?” Sean said happy, then turned afraid. “Happy to see you too son, and don`t worry, Aiden is alright, he`ll be back soon.” Richard answered, not mentioning the fight they have had, nor that Aiden left in frustration. He stood up and ruffed the boy`s head just to play with him, then moved forward to look for Aurora, hoping everything had been alright while they were gone, Sean followed.
