Ash tackled the biker known as Jeff to the ground and proceeded to start punching him. Holding the man down he unloaded a year of anger held back against the undead world. Every strike opened another place for blood to flow freely from. Voices screamed at him to stop but he ignored them. Feeling arms pull him back Ash hadn't come back to reality just yet. Giant arms wrapped around him Ash slowly came back seeing Mark holding him back. Ash started to cry thinking the one thing he had in the world was gone. That was until he saw her. Dakota coming out of the gas station. Embracing her he watched as Jeff stood up. An evil grin spread across his blood soaked face as Dakota ran into the truck. Ash drew his revolver and was getting ready to use his last bullet when a hole appeared in the mans shoulder. Ash's gun never fired. Looking at the truck he saw Dakota with her hunting rifle. She fired again but this time Jeff fired twice. Anthony collapsed and Ash felt something.
It wasn't pain from the bullet. It was something else. Guilt that he'd leave Dakota in such a terrible world.
Gasping for air Ash was woken up by a wolf licking his face. That wasn't a wolf. It's a husky. "Who...What's going on?" Ash asked and looked around. Seeing the dirt still on his legs and left arm he heard someone talking. The voices sounded familiar. He tried to yell but instead he coughed up blood. Spitting three times he placed his head back. He heard a ringing. It was slowly getting louder. Trying to dig himself out he saw the dog help out in him pulling his arm out. The ringing kept growing until it got unbearably loud.
Grabbing his head the noise hurt his ears and head. It felt like his brain was going to explode. After what felt like hours the pain faded away. Laying on the ground for longer than he should have he slowly extracked the last of himself from the grave. Crawling out he laid on the cold grass closing his eyes. His chest hurt every time he took a breath and he was thirsty. The dog whined and laid down beside Ash. Placing a hand on the dogs head helps reassure it he was fine. He started to chuckle soon started to laugh until he started to cough violently. He spit out more blood and slowly climbed up to his feet. He had no weapons, His clothes were dirty, he didn't know where he was, and everything hurt. Ash checked his holster and found his magnum still in its holster. Saying a quiet thank you he pulled the magnum free and entered the church. At least one thing was going his way.
They entered the church Ash raised his Magnum scanning for walkers. The dog sniffed the air for a few minutes then turned to Ash and wagged his tail. Lowering his gun they walked around the church checking rooms until he found the kitchen. He quickly made his way to the fridge threw the door open. Seeing a pack of water he ripped it open pulled out three bottles. Collapsing to his knee's he dropped two bottles and practicly tore the lid off before he took a drink. The water felt amazing on his dry throat. He sat against the cabinets as he finished the bottle in almost one gulp. Looking to his new companion who sat staring at him Ash chuckled and searched for a bowl. Finding a mixing bowl he placed it down for the dog and poured half a bottle into it. The dog stared at him until he put the bowl down. The dog drank from the bowl as Ash sat down again next to the dog.
He pet the dog as it drank. After it finished it laid down placing its head on Ash's lap. "Whats your name?" Ash asked his voice still ragged. Checking the collar he found a tag. "Shadow" "Nice to meet you Shadow. I'm Ash." Shadow's ears perked at his name being said. Ash pet the dogs head staring at the wall. The wind could be heard outside and nothing else. Ash thought about taking a nap until a secret door opened from beside what looked the pantry. A reverand came out bleeding. He was clearly bitten and disoriented. Ash and the man made eye contact. The reverand stared at Ash but he was focused on something on his forehead. Ash raised his gun and fired.
The reverands left eye exploded as the high calibur round penetrated his head. Blood and brains covered the kitchen wall as Shadow jumped at the loud noise in the tight area. Ash's ears started to ring and his headache quickly returned. Grabbing his head Ash rolled around on the ground trying his hardest not to scream as the pain was much more intense than it was before. After it faded her looked and saw Shadow was laying down beside Ash staring at him. "I'm sorry buddy." Ash pet the dogs head as Shadows tail started wagging glad Ash was ok.
Ash climbed a flight of stairs and found a bathroom. After making sure it was clear he finally got a look at himself in the mirror. Seeing the hole in his head the ringing in his ears returned as did the pain. Ash collapsed and his world faded to black.
