Once on the road Amber steadied the HUmvee, weaving through dead cars every so often. She had driven this stretch of road enough over the two months that it was almsot like a second instinct. She looked back at Bethany and Paul, tyler riding in shotgun beside her.
"Alright so once there we'll split into pairs. Stay close to your pair, be smart. There's two stores we need to clear, a pharmacy, and has station. I'm expecting both to be dry, but we need to check. Once you clear your store, move to the grocery store across the street. It was a small independant one, that's the meeting place. If we both teams aren't there by start of sundown then something has gone wrong and you need to decide if you leave them, or go to their rescue. If both teams are there on schedule then we clear the final store together."
She looked around. "I'll go with Tyler and cover the pharmacy. The gas station has Meds in a back room as well, but it's locked off. Does this work with everyone?" She wasn't really caring for an answer, that's what was happening. Tyler and her worked better as a team, they could clear out the riskier operation quicker. Considering Max, Abby, and Charles had already cleared the gas station, there should only be odds and ends.
She turned back around focussing on the road. She drove a little faster. By the time they got to the Main Street of the small town it was about mid afternoon. The sun was high in the sky, but the cold breeze still blew. Amber turned off the Humvee and climbed up.
she pulled her windbreaker tight. It bunched up over her tactical vest. She pulled her hair back, tieing it in a tight pony tail. She pulled on a pair of gloves, and a makeshift arm guard out of a child's soccer kneeguard. Finally she grabbed her pistol, in it's holster, and tucked it along her belt. Then she tucked a knife in her boot and belt, short and long. Grabbing her SCAR Rifel she closed the door and waited for the others.
She looked over at Tyler, the redneck with two straps of bullets across his chest. He had a revolver on his belt, and a knife no doubt in his boot. He carried his double barrel and smiled toward her. Amber returned the smile as she waited for Paul and Bethany to get readied up.
when they were she nodded to them. "Alright let's move," she said turning toward the pharmacy. They banged on the window, trying to alert any sinner to the front. When none came the shattered the door window and stepped in, leaving Paul and Bethany alone.
