Madeleine “Maddy” Snow
Age: 34 (When Dakota was 9)
Occupation: Kindergarten teacher
Home: San Francisco, CA
Spouse: Jack Snow
Children: Dakota Snow (Daughter)
Parents: Peter Vinteroy Jr. (Father), Ellen Vinteroy (Mother)
Siblings: Anna Vinteroy, Elsa Vinteroy
Dakota's mother, Maddy, met Dakota's father at San Francisco State University. They dated all while in school, but chose not to get married until both of them had gotten their degrees. She took her Bachelor of Science in biology and added a few semesters in early childhood education to go with it. Maddy always felt her career as a kindergarten teacher was second in importance only to caring for her own child. A loving mother and wife, she prided herself on the differences she could make not only in her own family, but in the lives of her students too. All through school she was quite the athlete, even taking a basketball scholarship to get into San Francisco State. It went well with her love of the natural world that her husband had helped pass on to Dakota. Hiking, biking or any excuse to get away from the city hustle and bustle was usually her idea. Also more often than not, she was the glue that held her small family together.
The general history of the Vinteroy (maiden name) family in America dates back to the late 19th century. Part of a small wave of immigrants, they came from Estonia and settled in San Francisco in 1894. They got by without much note, that is until Aleksander Vinteroy moved to Reno, Nevada in 1927 and established a plumbing business that would make the family a household name in the Reno/Tahoe area straight through to the outbreak. His son Peter Vinteroy, Sr and grandson Peter Vinteroy, Jr would each grow the business many times over, and expanded into the eastern Sierras. Peter Vinteroy, Jr. had three daughters with his wife, Ellen: twins, Anna and Elsa and youngest, Madeleine. Elsa had a head for business, and gladly took over for her dad, and Anna's degree in marketing helped her turn a cartoon of their great-grandfather into a regional pop icon. Maddy was the only one not so keen on joining the company. She moved back and stayed with her cousins in San Francisco when she went off to university.
