Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
William was born and raised in Sheffield, England. He had one older brother and a younger sister, both he came to love dearly as the years went by. His father worked as policeman and his mother a nurse, a match made after a shootout incident seven years before William`s birth. Growing up, William loved the outdoors and he had many friends his age, in which he early showed leadership capabilities.
At school he joined the football team and it became his passion, including boxing. His favorite team of all time was Manchester United and with his father and siblings he went to see their matches. Later in life, as he reached his teens, he learned about falling in love, through his numerous girlfriends, whether it was he breaking up with them, or they breaking up with him. William became a tough guy, one who was often looked up to by others and when school ended, he went to college, earning a degree good enough for a military career.
Training to become an officer in the army, he eventually rose to the rank of captain over several years and as he felt compelled to join the soldiers at war, he left to join the fight in Afghanistan. With a wife and child waiting for him at home, he stayed overseas for four years, earning honorary medals for his bravery in combat and skills of leadership. Once he came home he was granted the rank of Major.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
The disease came to England from abroad, whether it was from planes or ships none knew, but it spread like a wildfire. When the people discovered its deadly effects, it was already too late as it had infected thousands. One by one they died and rose again, claiming more victims. William was stationed at the base when he was called to duty, and without question he left with those he commanded. With orders to clean up the mess in London, they rolled in with tanks at their disposal, aiding civilians through the chaos.
William had no chance to speak with his wife and child during his mission, but hoped they were alright, despite the circumstances. When the fight against the undead failed, all priority fell on getting those most important to safety.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
Refugee camps were set up all over the country on strategic locations and William was given charge of one. For months he managed to keep everybody safe, even though many deserted to go look for their own. Politicians and nobles kept bothering him within the walls, but he was a fair man and treated everyone like equals. His rule however was not to last, eventually the camp got overrun and people had to flee.
In an organized fashion, William provided escort for those that could not fight and with a team of brave men and women willing to fight and protect, they headed out onto the road. Traveling from place to place, they made sure not overdue their stay as they picked up supplies and kept moving. Though they became less in number over the months, William remained true to his mission, always thinking of his loved ones who he hoped was still alive, somewhere out there.
