Acer listened to the man, having no idea he had just come from the group Ivy was with, but when he mentioned Colorado, he raised a brow.
"Interesting. Ever know a gal named Ivy? She came from there too." It was meant as just a passing question that was possibly never meant to be answered. He knew this world was so big now, so vast, that him crossing paths with someone else here was a small percentage of a chance.
"So, Gabriel." He looked the man up and down as he stayed in front of the house. He wasn't about to allow this 'guest' inside for food or drink until he could really tell what kind of guy he was. What would he do to keep a safe roof over his head and how far would he go to prove he was like them?
"You heard shouting and decided to come instead of running away. Are you drawn to anger or do you just like meddling in the affairs of others?" This guy looked pretty even keel, at least right now, but there must be a reason he was still alive and he wanted to know what Gabriel was doing so right. He wanted to know if he was another soldier.
Gabriel looked at Acer while he spoke, but couldn't help his eyes from straying away slightly. They'd managed to make a stronghold of this manor, a very secure one it seemed. It wouldn't be bad idea to stay here if he could convince the boss man. Acer seemed interested when he mentioned Colorado, Acer talked about a girl named Ivy coming from there. The name was definitely familiar to him, but he couldn't put a finger on it. She must've been with him in Dolph's group, but he didn't really talk to many people, just BB, Dolph and a few guards. This didn't seem to be a burning question though, as he quickly moved on to other things.
When Acer asked him about why he came to the manor, he didn't really know what to answer. Maybe it was just the idea of seeing and hearing human beings, maybe it was because there was a chance of other people like him, he wasn't too sure. He decided to just go with the options Acer had said to him. "A bit of both I suppose" he said with a grin.

Acer looked at him for a long moment before deciding the man could come in. Recently two left, three including Dan, who said he would be back. The two that left were already being hunted, like rats for stealing from the group. He looked towards one of the guards at the gate, nodding for him to lock up and come in. "Alright, you can come in, grab something to drink, maybe to eat."
He started towards the door as he motioned for the guard to follow behind Gabriel and keep a close eye on the man. He needed to go check on Anthony, Jackson and Ivy.
"But you remember whose roof you're under. You remember the gratitude when you go to sleep at night with a full belly."
He came in the front entrance as the sun was shining high above and led them into the shade of the house. He could have water or liquor, whatever he wanted. There were lots of jobs to be done around here and many people that needed to do them. If Gabriel wanted to stay here, he would have only one job. Get the blonde from the new group Jackson spoke about.
He moved down the hallway as Gabriel was led towards the re-cooked alligator from the night before. There wasn't much left and they would have to catch more food. A few rats were already being skinned for dinner tonight and the smell of burning wood could be smelled throughout the house. He went to the room where he saw Ivy standing and he wrapped a hand around her backside as he looked at the pummeled form of Anthony laying on the floor.
"Wake him up Jackson. I've got questions that need to be answered."

Jackson turned at the sound of Acer's voice, his eyes finally beginning to relax. "Hey, hey, man. So, I don't know if he's going to, ah, be too talkative. I got a little excited with him. Just a sec," with that, Jackson got to one knee and started slapping Anthony on the cheek--nothing too hard, just enough to hopefully wake him up. "Hey man, so I need you awake now...turns out boss man wants a word. C'mon, man..." Jackson was now slapping a bit harder, hoping to at least get some movement out of Anthony. Finally, Anthony groaned and rolled to the side.
"There we are! He's all yours!"

Acer looked down at the bloody mess that was the kidnapping victim. Anthony was drugged and probably pretty out of it, which would make it easier to extract any information out of him. At least he wasn't dead. Any leverage he wanted would be gone with the other group. As he kneeled down, he grabbed Anthony by the wet, bloody shirt and pulled him up into a seated position.
"Wow Jackson, you really gave it to him. Poor guy. He's going to be hurting for weeks I'd suspect."
But that was that and he wanted to give Anthony the benefit of the doubt that he would cooperate.
"So now you're in my house and you're going to give me things I want, understand?" Anthony's eyes rolled a little now out of anything but the drug-fueled, violently bloody and broken haze he was in.
"Your group. I want to know more. Why are they here and who is in charge of it?" Anyone could have told Jackson they were in charge but he wanted to really know who the leader was over there. Now that Colette was starting to interfere and look for potential allies, he needed to start working from the inside out.
"You fail to answer and instead of Jackson here singing you lullabyes, it's going to be Ivy and I think she has a thing for knives and fire."
Jackson stood a few feet behind Acer, his arms folded across his chest. He knew all along Acer would appreciate having a hostage, rather than just Jackson's word. Now Anthony could give more accountable information about who was in charge, the group dynamic. Jackson had done well, and he was pleased. Still, what happened to Paulie wasn't Anthony's fault. It was Colette's group. Maybe Colette hasn't done it, maybe Arcade. It couldn't have been Clayton. Blood made the man squeamish. It didn't matter, Jackson would have his revenge on all of them soon, including Leigh, who was probably the one that blew Paulie's cover.
Just then, Jackson felt like adding insult to injury. "Oh, Acer, by the way...remember that family? Y'know, man, woman, daughter? Few blocks down the road? That's right where their place is located, by the way, but yeah, yesterday our friend Anthony blew them all away! Man woman and child. For their supplies! Little defenseless girl, dead."

Ivy smiled as she felt a hand touching her. That couldn’t only mean, that Acer just got into the room, besides if it wasn’t Acer, whoever did it would have just lost their hand. She looked next to her and smiled even more as she saw Acer. Then she just kept quiet as Jackson and Acer talked.
While waiting, for Jackson to get Anthony awake, she turned a bit to Acer his side and rested her hand on his chest, softly rubbing it. Ivy chuckled a bit as Acer warned Anthony what would happened as he gave the wrong answer. “Well you are right about the fire part, knives are getting old though.” She replied with her false smile.
Ivy then heard how Jackson said Anthony killed a family, even a little girl. Ivy placed her free hand in front of her mouth, part of her was joking but the other part was a bit shocked. Yes Ivy was a cold bitch, but kids is a whole different level. “You deserve a lot more pain then.” Ivy said false.
After minutes of questions and negotiation, Gabriel was allowed in. He was told to get something to drink and eat while in there. He wasn't sure, hunger was really on his mind. He'd stolen some beef jerky and other things from some survivors not too far from here. He followed Acer into the manor, as he did, the man told him to always remember who's roof he was under. He'd have to remember if he wanted to stay under it and survive it seemed. He just gave a quick nod to the man and continued to follow him.
Gabriel was led to some food and drink supplies they had a in the manor. Something had been cooked, he wasn't quite sure what it was, but got some of it anyway. He also grabbed a bottle of water and followed Acer again, eating and drinking as he did.
Acer led him into a room where there were a few other people. The one that grabbed his attention was the one on the floor. He was covered in blood and was in extremely bad shape. But there was something else about him, under all of the blood, he recognised that face from somewhere, but he couldn't quite remember. He also noticed a man near him obeying Acer. It looked as though he'd been beating the living hell outta this guy, Gabe did wonder what this guy did so wrong. Finally, there was another face he remembered, a face of girl. It must've been Ivy from Dolph's group not too long ago. It looked as though many members had scattered far and wide as that old group broke up. "So... " he said, looking between everyone. "What did this guy do?".
Acer looked over his shoulder to Gabriel with the new information Jackson had just given him churning in his mind. This was a godsend. Information like that was like precious metal that could be used against him. Now he had the upper hand over Anthony and he was going to use every last drop of that information.
"He killed a family. Innocent people who were just trying to stay alive. Can you believe that, Gabriel?"
His face was in shock as his eyes were wide with horror, but it was all a complete facade. Turning back to Anthony he grinned but it was not a sincere smile. It was one filled with mockery and wicked intent. He pulled Anthony closer as he heard the ragged, choked breath from the gurgling blood in his throat.
"Start answering questions and I'll be lenient. Be honest and I may let you go. Then again, a guy who can kill an innocent family for his own gain is my kind of man."
Everything was hazy, and the pain was nearly unbearable. Anthony's nose was broken, no question. He dreaded to know what it looked like. He tried moving his legs, and was slightly relieved to know that his knees hadn't been broken. That was a plus, but it didn't feel like one amidst all the pain throughout his body. Two new men entered the room, the first one, a blonde man, grabbed Anthony and set him against the wall. With each passing second, Anthony was growing more coherent--and more aware of the pain and the dangerous situation he was in. How far was he from Remy's? How long had it been since he was abducted? His sense of time was lost completely.
Finally, the blonde man, Acer, asked Anthony about leadership. Anthony wasn't about to give him any satisfaction. He wasn't about to betray the people that had kept him alive. It was then that Jackson spoke up, telling Acer about what Anthony had done. He shook his head as Acer recounted the deed to the other man--Gabriel, and the other woman spoke up.
Gabriel. Gabriel. Anthony's eyes widened, and immediately his memory kicked in. Gabriel, from Adolphus' group--that other woman...Ivy. They'd both traveled with Adolphus, they'd both been there in Oklahoma, and they must have followed their group here. "You...followed us..." Anthony got out finally, his eyes darting from Gabriel to Ivy.
His attention was quickly reverted back to Acer, as he instructed Anthony to talk, saying that he was "his kind of man" for what he'd done, and suddenly Acer sounded similar to the hallucination of Adolphus. "It was...a mistake. I didn't mean to hurt anybody, didn't mean to kill anybody, and I'll atone for what I've done," Anthony's voice was dripping with disdain as he spoke, his eyes focused on Acer's. "I've dealt with men like you. Men like you have tried to kill me. And they're all dead now." Anthony knew deep down he was in no place to be talking like this. He had nothing to do with the deaths of the Reverend or Jeff, and he only killed Adolphus out of luck, Luca saving his life. "I don't owe you answers."

Acer heard Anthony as he spoke about Ivy and Gabriel following..us...meaning Anthony's group. If he was already being hunted that meant he was already a wanted man and that made things all the more fun. He let go of Anthony's shirt and stood up. He had no tolerance for people who wasted his time and when Anthony said he owed him nothing he shook his head and stepped back. He turned his back for a moment, taking a few paces in the dark room before turning back around and lurching a heavy, booted foot for Anthony's ribs.
"You underestimate me, Tony. May I call you Tony? It doesn't matter because I'll call you whatever the fuck I want."
He looked between Jackson, Gabriel and Ivy as his expression changed to that of a very, feral animal. His eyes shifted as his mind went into a very dark recess and he watched as Tony went back to the floor.
"You will atone for what you've done. You'll tell me what you know or we will go and take everything from them. Jackson was inside, remember? He can tell me their names, how many were there and where their weaknesses are. I will watch your friends scream as I take your world away. Do you want that Anthony? Do you?"
Anthony grunted and rolled to the side as Acer's boot made contact with his ribs. He'd kicked him in the same place Jackson had struck a few times, making the pain infinitely worse. As he writhed on the floor, Acer was speaking still, threatening Anthony if he did not cooperate. It was true, Jackson knew most of the group, and if Anthony didn't cooperate, he'd make it worse on them. Anthony finally struggled back to his sitting position and took a deep breath.
"You win," Anthony nodded quickly, his eyes closed. "You win." Anthony knew Acer could get all this information from Jackson, and there had to be some reason he was keeping Anthony alive. The best bet may be to cooperate--to a point, at least. "We don't have...a solid leadership. Remy got us this far, Dallas keeps people...composed, contained. And Luca...Luca's the enforcer, if that makes sense..." Anthony winced, the pain surging once again. Behind Acer, he saw Jackson nodding, as if affirming what he was saying.
"Sounds about right, based on my observation," Jackson added with no emotion whatsoever.

Ivy watched how Acer acted that he actually cared about the family, she knew it wasn’t real. She didn’t like the idea of little girls getting killed, but then again she also loved the false side of Acer. She looked at him and tried her best to stay serious, what she really wanted was to show her false smile to show how much she liked that side of him. Then she shook her head and remembered Acer said the name Gabriël, when she turned around she couldn’t believe her eyes. It was Gabriel from Dolph his group, how did he made it out of the battle. “Well well, if it isn’t Gabriël, didn’t knew anyone else made it out.” She said as she looked at him. They hadn’t talked a lot back then, so they only knew each other vaguely.
She then watched as Acer talked to Anthony. Ivy only smiled as Anthony replied. She liked how he panicked when he recognized Gabriël and herself. “Oh no, did we?” Ivy said as she made pretended to be shocked placing a hand in front of her mouth. Ivy did followed the group, she would have her revenge, finding Gabriël wasn’t part of that plan though, but she was sort of happy to see a familiar face. “You think you figured it out, well you are wrong, you know nothing Anthony, not even close.” She said as she grinned. Then she kept quiet and let him reply to Acer. She was surprised it seemed like Anthony still had some fighting spirit, she decided to stay quiet though, Acer would tone him down, she knew that for sure.
She clapped her hands as Acer kicked him in the ribs. “Go get him, tiger.” She said with a smile. Then she just watched, mere seconds later he looked back at Ivy and the others. Ivy was surprised to see his animal side, but one the other side she was happy he let the beast out. As they all waited for Anthony to reply it was very quiet, but it changed was Tony finally talked. It seemed like Acer finally broke him, he told them the info they wanted to hear. “Good job.” Ivy said grinning, while her false eyes looked at Acer.
It was the hunger for power that drove Acer. If he was just some bar owner, he could have gone into politics, he was pretty certain of that. But he hated the waxing of hands, the exchange of favors for other favors and the networking of assholes that came with being a political figure. It was bad enough being a business owner and having to do that as he moved through the local web of city leaders to keep his liquor license.
But right now, he felt powerful as Anthony finally broke down and gave him a few answers.
"So, the navigator, the negotiator and the enforcer. I see." He liked the word enforcer. Maybe he would figure out a few of those in his own network of criminals that kept a tight lock down on this mansion. He went back to Anthony and helped him back up, gently patting his cheek.
"Jackson, get Tony here some water. See if you can find Dan. He should have been back by now. This poor bastard needs some band-aids."
He got up and turned back to Ivy and Gabriel. Ivy had already proven herself to be a useful ally as she carved up the sick and dying man under Dan's care. Now it was Gabriel's turn.
"I want you to go and find the navigator. From what Jackson said, she's a skinny, young blonde. Go to the group. Jackson or Rollin Jones can take you. See if she is willing to come and just talk to me. If she says no, force her to. I don't care how, but just do it. Prove to me that you're worthy of staying here. Be back by sundown with her or don't come back at all."
He had a lot of tendrils that were reaching out to this new group and he wanted to gauge how tough they were exactly. Would they fight back like Colette did to prove they aren't worth the time to mess with or were they weak and disorganized? He wanted to see how far he could push this.
"Ivy, you find the negotiator, Dallas. Use your wiles to see what kind of information you can get from him. Do they have plans to stay or move on. See if he's willing to trade supplies. See what they have to offer. If he asks what we have, tell him weapons and ammo."
Which certainly they did have, but he wasn't at all about to let any of that go. He would take what he wanted from these people when he wanted. But he wasn't about to risk the collapse of his empire to do it.
"Me and Tony here are going to talk a little longer."
He went back to Anthony and leaned against the wall across from him, crossing his arms over his chest. "Tell me about this enforcer, Luca. You have to be tough to be like that. What have you seen him do that makes you call him that?"
Gabriel just watched as the familiar faced man was interrogated by Acer. Acer mentioned that the man had killed an innocent family that were only trying to stay alive. Jesus christ, Gabriel hadn't even murdered an innocent family so far, sure, he'd steal from them, mug them, but that didn't mean certain death. He had overheard him being called a few names like Anthony and Tony. The names weren't familiar, but atleast he knew the name of the man. He then accused him and Ivy of following 'us'. Gabe then remembered, this guy was from Bear Lake. He stayed there until it was lit up in flames by Dolph and his guys. Gabe didn't say much, just looked at the man.
It was then when Ivy greeted him, saying she wasn't sure if he was alive or not. "Hello, Ivy" he said with a grin. "Well, I'm alive and well. The same can't be said for most of them back there". After some more Anthony torture and beating, he finally gave Acer some answers. He named a few key members of the group they were hunting, Gabe wasn't quite sure who it was. It could've been Anthony's group, maybe they'd gotten even more bounties on their heads.
Acer them told Gabe to go and find the navigator. He gave a vague description of the women, but Gabriel had a pretty good idea of what she looked like. He had only been there a few minutes and had already gotten a job, Acer must've liked him. He gave a nod to Acer and turned around to be on his way, but before he could leave, he remembered that he only had his machete with him. If these people were to shoot him, he'd want to put up a pretty good fight. He then turned back to Acer. "Do you by any chance have a firearm I could use... " he said, showing him he only had a machete. "Just in case... ".

Ivy glared at Gabriël. “Glad you are alive, it’s not funny that the others are dead, so don’t joke about it.” She said stern. Ivy really didn’t care about most of them, but Dolph he took her in, gave her a place to train, a home, so no bad words would be spoken about him. “On second thought, joke about the others all you want, just leave the big boss out of it.” Ivy said with a wink.
Ivy listened as Acer spoke, talking about the navigator, the negotiator and the enforcer. She chuckled as Acer helped Tony on his feet and asked some water. “With or without poison?” Ivy added. She then watched as Acer turned to them and started talking to Gabriël, tasking him with finding Remy.
Then she looked at him with her false smile as she got tasked with finding the negotiator Dallas. She nodded and smiled. “Oh I will use all that I have.” She said as she bit her lip and gave Acer a puppy eyes look, well it was a false puppy though. “Or do you think he will like it rough.” She said stepping closer to Acer and licking his cheek. Then she stepped back. “But I’ll be sure I get those things done, wish me luck tiger.” She said as she winked at him.
She nodded as Acer said he was going to continue his talk with Tony. “Have fun.” Ivy said walking out and closing the door behind her. The next step was getting the right outfit and some weapons. So she walked upstairs and made her way to the room, where she left her stuff.
Despite being given to him by the man that just bloodied him a few moments prior, Anthony gulped down the water that Jackson handed it him. It tasted surprisingly fresh--better than what they had on the road. Acer was delegating responsibilities, sending his people, Adolphus' Gabriel and Ivy, after Remy and Dallas, respectively. No doubt Acer had quite a few other men, too, to do his bidding. Hell, maybe some where already there, back at Remy's apartment. Anthony hoped Luca and Dallas could handle whatever Acer threw their way, but he was skeptical.
Acer, after assigning tasks to Ivy and Gabriel, stood against the wall opposite Anthony, inquiring about Luca. No doubt the term "enforcer" Anthony had used to describe the man's position had caught his attention. Anthony was hesitant to provide any additional information regarding the group, but staying alive was a priority, and he could do more good alive than dead. "He was a cop...from Miami..." Anthony trailed off for a moment, deciding on how to characterize the man he'd traveled across the country and back with. "Gotten us out of tight spots. Good shot, but he was always an asset, not an ally. We had other guys to keep him in line." Anthony recalled how Logan had kept Luca contained as they traveled across the U.S. and how Randall had taken up the role at Bear Lake. Now Dallas had taken that position. "He's tough, yeah...tough, strong. He saved my life from a man like you."
Many chords had been struck as Anthony continued to talk. As much as he was unwilling to admit, he was laying out everything that Acer wanted to hear about this enforcer. Anthony was believing many things also that just weren't true.
"A cop. I like that. Always good to have in your pocket." Which was a place he was considering putting this cop Anthony spoke of.
What hit next was Anthony's words that he was an asset and not an ally. That meant he wasn't a friend. He was just there. Maybe he was just getting on with this people until he could find a real place to go. Other people were there to keep him in line, but what if those people were no longer there. "Those people that keep him in line, are they still there? Does he have any friends at your camp or is he just muscle for you?"
He waited for Anthony to finish the last of his water before he continued on. Luca was tough and strong and had saved Anthony's life before. But where Anthony was mistaken was that his life was not on the line.
"Well, fortunately for you, you're not going to die, Tony. No one said anything about killing you, now did they? Nah, Jackson..he's...he's a little rough. But sometimes you have to give people things to play with right? Like this enforcer. This cop of yours."
He took a few steps forward and smiled. The shadows of the room, against the natural light probably worsened that grin on his face.
"He'll come for you then? Because I really want to meet him. You're not the kind of guy who would survive here, Tony. But you're the kind of guy who can get me what I want from the outside." It wasn't a question. It was a demand. "Or all the people you care about will disappear. Those people at your camp."
